I imagine it could face the threat in the near future, but that isn't certain. We don't actually know the answer to this specifically; as it's kept behind closed doors. China is funding the Chinese version, not the company of Digital Extremes. The only money DE would get from them is their portion of any sales related to the Chinese version of Warframe.
