Stalker: The Room

We were trapped in a room at the end of an Orokin Sabotage mission . Stalker was after my companion, but Stalker never showed up. After we got out of the portal the only doors to the exit were locked. 

No way out.

 

He eventually came up with the idea of using a  Spectre to kill himself (Nightmare Mode) and the Stalker left because he was downed, unlocking the doors.

Is this supposed to happen?

Yes it is the stalker locks the room he is in to prevent escape, unless he or the stalked is downed then doors will stay locked. If you're a room away from him its possible to unlock the doors via the terminals.

The Void Portal room has no terminals.

And OP, next time, ensure you guys are in a room with at least ONE terminal to unlock the doors.

For future: Be near a terminal to unlock doors when Stalker shows up.

Odd,usually he spawns in the room where his target is. Did he spawn in the other tileset and you guys jumped through the portal? If so then that's the reason he can't go through the portal so he was stuck in the room and when the portal was destroyed he is technically still alive in another part of the map. So that's why you were stuck there he was still alive and trying to reach you.
