Why The Nerf Hate?

I just don't understand why people seem to hate nerfs so much.

You ever been shot in the eye with a nerf? Hurts.

Isn't it ironic? It's a brand centered around making dangerous things "safe" for children. A modern day travesty. They even promote gun use at an early age.

Because then we would have to settle for Banshee Sound Quake as a standard for Ults(nothing compared to how it was) compared to the newer Ults(looking at you Rhino and Nova).

Because most of the time the people calling for nerfs aren't doing it because the item they want nerfed is actually overpowered, it's because it out competes their pet frame/weapon in a single situation they tested it in.

And then there's how a lot of the people who call for nerfs have no idea what makes a weapon or frame OP to begin with.

People like to be as powerful as they can be, Ex: Kunai, although they are the best secondary or at least one of and have very good dps people want other weapons to become god tier like them. They just don't see how it takes more work that way, and how it rules out other content if it is simply the best in all categories. Some might say its PvE which then comes back to weapon variation, whats the point if all you see is that one weapon.

Nerfs are needed, but only for so much needed things, If anything nerf one aspect and buff another to balance out change which most seem to not enjoy.

Maybe because it most of the time makes something much less useful than it was. Imagine a world where Kuani were realistic and did 20-10 damage as bullets and lasers should be strong than a hunk of metal called the Kuani.

Ever play planetside 2?  Seesawing just doesn't work, it's unmanageable and creates a balance cluster F***.  It's more sensible to just bring other things up to speed and then balance on the opposition side until its all equal.  The only problem is that this can lead to an arms race but that can be addressed via a single balance overhaul pass with minor tweaks after bc you can't just cut 20% off of everything's damage and expect it to all work the same way :D

Why the hating on nerfs? Because players don't like their favourite toys to be reduced in OP-ness, as they can't see overall its better for the game even if it hurts them in the short term. Typical human nature at it's best.

Generally Nerfs tend to come about due to either Fan input, Developer's wanting to mix things up and well a Balance oversight.

The Weapons and skills for example honestly need a universal buffing -melee especially- to coincide with the enemy buffs cause generally you get stuck with the Highest DPS weapons not cause they are effective but because their the only thing that can reasonable dent higher level enemies. t3 Void tower defense is pretty much don't bother unless you have X, Y Z frame with the following weapons/mods.

In Competitive circles... Nerfing can be seen as a form of established elitism. especially if the Devs seem to favor a specific group of players/ a character over the others

That's a big issue in Grand chase where it seems if your not A Seig, Lire or Jin main your character is going to get screwed over.... especially since various characters who find effective ways to counter them seem to get nerfed shortly after wards...-it's especially noticeable during PVP season-

Nerfs tend to be viewed as either Punishment for finding something effective or a blantant attempt to make players change their style or is shutting them out.

Now Game Theory pretty much shows that a good chunk of players are going to go for the "Broken stuff" cause that lets them enjoy higher end content... even if they dislike that particular setup or equipment.

Warframe for the most part isn't that bad though/
