Jeez, this is spooky.

Geordie got to his feet, not sure how to proceed. Or if to proceed. He stared at the door for a while, wondering how risky it would be to continue to investigate. Generally locked metal doors aren't meant to be friendly...

He found himself wanting to turn back just as much as he wanted to find the source of the music, effectively freezing him in place.

As he stood there, absolutely nothing happened. The music kept playing, the door remained locked, and the seconds passed into minutes.

The two followed silently, keeping pace. The Ivara's Operator stuck to the back of the group, sometimes slowing down or stopping for a moment. The movement in her cloak showed her head was indeed moving around. She was clearly observing everything around her, as opposed to the Rhino's Operator, who was focused on following the group.

(I'll give a better description of them once the other characters can actually see their faces.)

Celeste walks off to the same side of the building she jumped up from, flipping herself off and back into the room below.

"How'd it go up there? Jane asks while flipping around, weapons at the ready.

Jane gives a noncommittal shrug. "Your guess is as good as mine. No tasings in the immediate future at least."

"What now though? Are we still tagging with Ebony?"

"Looks like, though apparently we've got hitchhikers too, so we'll have to keep an ear to the ground."

"I just hope the next place will have actual amenities this time." Jane complains, heading towards the open window.

"This time, I'm totally in agreement." Celeste replies, before leaping back out of the window and leaping onto the wet, slick ground with Jane hot on her heels. Sheathing their weapons visibly the pair proceed to tail the two Tenno in the lead, the sounds from Ebony and Sarah's footsteps working as a better guide than any flashlight possibly could in the dark and stormy night.

"Hey," Sarah calls out, snapping her fingers as if remembering something important, "You two are related to Mia and Aria, right? Did they ever mention to you whatever happened to my scythe? Been trying to hunt the thing down since pluto, but I haven't had any luck."

She spun around as she spoke, walking backwards so she's facing Jane and Celeste's general location (I dunno if they're hidden right now. If they aren't, assume she's looking at them.)

After a while of just standing and listening, he swore quietly and turned away. I have to meet up with Cyrus. Can't risk getting beat up over a dumb song. Best I can do is come back later and hope it's still going.

He shook his head and turned, quietly making his way back down the stairs and out of the building.

"Very well. Stay out of trouble." The guard said, and with that the gates to the refugee district opened.

______________

((I thought that was funny.))

"...Right," the guard with the severed head in his hands said, shooting Acambria a glance as he entered the city.

"Who the hell is this guy?" the guards were all doubtlessly thinking.

Svytoj entered the district, surveying the region and its occupants to assess its current state.

Acambria strutted into Perennial's  Central district, feeling the wind of the city rush over him.
"God I love this place. Reminds me of home." he said to himself. "Only a bit colder." he continued, looking over at the Wyrm.

It was a slum, full of particularly weary-looking refugees. There was still an incessant amount of anti-tenno propaganda, but this far from the center of power, the posters were old and faded, as if they hadn't been replaced in a very long time. Perhaps they simply didn't care what the people here thought, as they considered them temporary residents at best.

In the distance, just barely, a faint song could be heard. It was played with instruments used during the orokin era, and had no distinct ending or beginning, simply continuing onwards. The tune was melancholy in nature, and seemed to fit with Svytoj's current surroundings.

"Worth a shot." Chegar said over the link. "The bards always know something."
Good point. Svytoj thought, walking in the direction of the music.

Fortunately, the music provided an easy to follow trail in what otherwise would be an innavigable maze. Throughout the entirety of Svytoj's walk towards the source, the music never once ceased, always continuing. Eventually, Svytoj arrived upon a large, uninhabited complex meant to house eventual refugees. The music had grown much louder, now that he was outside the building it was being played in, and could easily be heard over the rain.

The smoke drifted lazily into the air as the rain pattered around him. A sharp wind was blowing, but Acambria probably wouldn't feel anything through his armor. The city beckoned - where would he go now?

Inside each of the tenement buildings was a stairwell that lead to the surface, though there was also a fire ladder that could be accessed from the outside.

Cyrus leapt from the ground using his powerful exoskeleton to boost himself up to halfway up one of the fire ladders. He quickly climbed his way to the top, the rain pattering against his Corpus visor until he reached the top of the ladder, where he surveyed the surroundings.

"Void sig: organic, Humanoid."
Tenno?
"Or Hierarchy. Be careful."
Will do. Svytoj proceeded towards the source near the building.

For what had sounded like a massive firefight, there was a surprising lack of bodies. In the dim lighting, it was hard to make much out, but that much was clear. There was also a distinct lack of participants. Whoever had been fighting had already left.

Still, a more thorough search might yield more. Unless Cyrus felt that he could track down the combatants in this weather.

Trawlers were still coming in for the night - even at this hour. Given the fact that it was constantly raining, perhaps day and night didn't really apply here. On one that had recently docked, men stumbled blearily onto shore as a fresh team took over, getting ready to offload their cargo. More than a few shot Acambria an odd glance.

"Well, we're heading to our main place of operations now, so fortunately that should be sooner rather than later. I myself am looking forward to getting out of this damn rain." Sarah said as they pressed on through the district.

Along the way, perhaps the most mangy and beat up Kavat Celeste or Jain had ever seen crawled out of one of the nearby alleyways, carrying a small rodent in its mouth. It walked over to Sarah, rubbing itself against her leg as it presented its catch to its human. Ebony looked mildly disgusted, though Sarah broke into a smile, kneeling down and scratching the filthy animal under its chin as she accepted his 'present'. It purred and leaned into the scratches, its eyes closing in enjoyment.

"I still can't believe that you actually touch that animal." Ebony remarked, standing several feet away from the kavat.

"What's wrong with Scratcher?" Sarah asked, "Besides, you were the one always saying we should get a pet."

"That's not a pet, that's a rabid animal with more scars than you and covered in more filth than the floor of a grineer warship." Ebony said flatly. The kavat turned to glare at Ebony with its one good eye. "Oh, and it also happens to hate everything that isn't you."

"That's just his way of playing." Sarah replied adamantly, rising to her feet and continuing on. The kavat followed behind, eyeing the newcomers suspiciously.

Ebony just shook her head in defeat and continued walking.

((Yes, Sarah named her cat Scratcher, probably the most uncreative cat name of all time.))

Cyrus sat down on the building's roof, his arms resting over his knees, with the Burston lying next to him. He sighed, gazing at the lights of the wealthier districts as they blurred through the rain.

"This is one weird city," Cyrus huffed to himself. The rain kept pattering down on him, although he remained dry thanks to his suit. The silence was interrupted only by the soft panging of droplets on his helmet.
After a moment of resting at the top of the ladder, Cyrus grabbed his gun again and vaulted off the roof, using his exoskeleton to absorb the shock of landing. He might as well snoop the courtyard area for signs of struggle.

I'm not seeing anything, Chegar. Svytoj replied, still approaching the building. no void sigs anyway: I'm picking up a good amount of EMF emissions.
"I saw that, too." Chegar replied. "I had to look pretty hard at it to even see the void signature. follow the EMF, and you should find the target."
Svytoj looked around a bit, trying to get a fix on the magnetic readings.
That's when his eyes fell on Geordie.
Gotcha.

There were clear signs of a large group of people having been here recently, though they had likely fled once the shooting broke out. A small elevated platform had been erected for somebody in the center of the crowd to speak.

A few stray rounds had embedded themselves in the street, though there was something unusual about them. They had punched through several inches of sheer concrete before coming to a stop. Furthermore, the bullets had a slight... luminescence... about them.
