Getting Abandoned in Defense Missions

Several times now, I’ve been in a public defense mission and have 1-2 people choose to keep fighting with one person choosing to extract, then at the last second everyone but me jumps to extract and abandons me in the mission.  Most of the time when I do defense on public, I’m not running a solo frame and I’m forced to fail the mission and lose my XP and rewards. 

It makes sense for people in the middle to decide to leave at the last second, but it’s unfair and rude to allow players to indicate they are staying just to leave fellow Tenno at the last second to fail a mission.

All I can recommend is to stay ready to switch to extract when one person leaves. Many people don't consider the spawn rates high enough with just 3 players left and leave when the one player doesn't switch back. Those who'd play with 3, but not with two players then follow suit and leave as well.

Would be really nice if we could have control over spawn rates so we can keep the spawn rates for 4 players even when there aren't 4 players present.

DE could "easily" fix this by adding 3-5 more secs if someone changes at the last sec (only added once to avoid people trolling with infinite countdown). Until they do so however, I would suggest you extract when the 1st person does so, better than getting left alone and forced to fail

I am on regularly currently getting back into the game. If you want message me I’m on the eastern side of the US. I regularly run with my dad and brother and just drag a random through missions. My gt is same as user, would be glad to help with any grinding.

 

Edit: just realized I might look like some kid because I said my dad plays warframe with me, I’m not, just felt like I needed to clerify.

Which frames do you use? Pretty sure most defense missions are soloable with all frames. (the first 30-40 waves you would reach with a pug team that is)

Also you won't lose xp even if you leave/fail the mission.

I usually just ignore people who troll by leaving at the last seconds...

While I totally get where you're coming from, I feel like you can easily make that decision at 10 seconds left instead of 1.

The most recent time I was a range Limbo.  I could have solo'd it with a duration Limbo, but a 10 sec cataclysm wasn't exactly helpful and I wasn't loaded out for solo'ing.  When I extracted, I did lose the XP and relic I had earned in the first 5 waves.    

Most of the time I am fine ignoring trolls - I've had plenty of people do crappy things to me in game.  But this has happened multiple times, and it's just rude and detrimental to the player left behind.  I shouldn't have to lose the work I did do because someone wants to troll me by leaving at the last second.  I would have been happy to leave as well had I known they wanted to.

I'm sorry you've been repeatedly trolled in such a fashion. My only advice (based on the current way extractions are handled) is to choose to extract as soon as you see 1 player do it. It's not the most ideal way of handling the situation, but until DE introduces some sort of delay to the timer counter when someone changes their choice, I don't see any other alternative (if you're choosing to PuG, of course).

Range-Power Strength Catabomb Limbo?

If you were at around the 10 waves mark, Cataclysm can still nuke efficiently enough at Hydron levels but it's really not a good build, some other frames are better at nuking like Discharge Volt or Spore Saryn.

Limbo works best with a high range-high duration build and the Rift Torrent augment.

I think you're missing the point of the post.  I'm an MR24 - I have WFs/builds to come in and wreck Hydron.  The point of this post was players are getting trolled/abandoned in defense missions and either fail (thus losing any bonus XP) or are forced to abort (losing all XP and rewards).  It's unfair and rude, especially for people who aren't MR24 with a Range Saryn or Resonating Banshee and are just trying to grind for their XP.

I'll be fine, but small QOL changes, like adding a couple seconds when people change at the last minute would be really helpful.  In the meantime, as suggested, I'm never staying in a mission after any player says they're leaving.

You see this fairly frequently. 

Three things:

1) Don't go into a defense if you can't solo at least one round. In other words, bring the A-game and plan for the worst. Don't level stuff, or at least not all your stuff. Make sure you are capable. Yes, it probably means you'll be bringing CC 'frames and/or at least one good AoE weapon. 

2) Keep an eye on the guy hosting the mission. He's the one with the "1" near his name. If he extracts, you extract. No exceptions. This is more to avoid a host transfer and its attendant risks, but it's an indicator that it's probably a good time to leave. 

3) Riffs off of "2" above. If your team starts acting squirrely on the continue screen, just extract. It's not worth the hassle and there's always another mission.

Also helpful for those situations: Specters. Most of my frames aren't an issue to level anymore with higher MR, and the spawn rate does drop once you're solo, but depending on where you are specters can be very helpful in keeping you up without much issue. Odds are that you have quite a few blueprints for them just sitting around, so put them to use an and keep them in your gear wheel for emergencies.
