  1. *sigh*

The last time DE released numbers was (I think) about a year ago, and at that time approximately 1.3% of WF players were playing Conclave. It's a bolt-on, and the overwhelming majority of players have concluded it isn't something they want to participate in. So unless the OP is trolling the Trumpster, PVP/Conclave has never been great.

Most of the time, when these threads bubble up from the depths, it seems whatever the supposed-purpose of them was, IMHO they end up degenerating into something like "PVP could/would be great if more of you people played it."

Not every game needs a social space. WF's barely co-op anymore; let's not pretend it's ever going to have a great, well-implemented PVP mode, and just....move on. It might be great some day....but I might be President some day, too.

  2. Two thoughts occur to me (and I'm certainly not the first to notice them.)

One, the game has always had a large grind aspect to it, and most new players seem to want to ignore the game itself (little to no killing/exploring, only speed-running for the Sparklie), seeing only the grind and ways to minimize it, and thus they focus on "efficiency". IMHO, they miss the forest for the trees. If you aren't playing the game to play the game.....what are you going to use the Sparklies for?

Second, wait times exist to encourage Plat sales, and until somebody comes up with a better system of encouraging Plat sales, you should prolly just assume the wait times will continue as they have for the last five years. (Of course you and I don't want to wait - that's why wait times are in the game!)

  3. It might have made more difference to you if you had been around back when each planet had their own relay, we Tenno had an event where we had to defend them, not everyone took it seriously, and all but three were destroyed - permanently. Kinda shocked folks. So yeah, some of us would like to see them rebuilt because we let them fall.

  4. Mine was back when they first introduced him, so nobody had ever encountered him (and of course, DE kept mum for the first couple of months). He was just a complete unknown. The lights flickered, a voice spoke out of nowhere, he APPEARED, one-shotted me, and was gone. Shocked the crap out of me ~ "WHAT the HELL was THAT!!!????"

  5. I actually got my BP while the third part was still building. You can look on the map for the white circle (only at night, of course) or you can look for the ghostly apparition, from your favorite high spot for good visibility. As I recall, looking from the Cetus tunnel, the second and third circles were to the NW, i.e. in front, off to your left, up in the hills.

  6. Because the same handful of big clans conquered everything, and just traded the Rails back and forth between them. It should have been obvious to DE from the start that it would end up that way. But eventually they saw what was happening, and suspended the conflict.

Left some nice nodes behind, tho... Hope that part stays.

  7. FYI, I found this on someone's post from last year, who apparently had this very same issue:

Go to Steam>steamapps folder and look for appmanifest_230410.acf, open it with notepad search and edit StateFlags from 1036 change to 4, then save.

Also, to add to that delete the folder 230410 inside Steamapps>downloading.

I tried this, but rundll.exe apparently uses keeps this in use, and won't allow me to change anything about it while it's in use. (Not sure why it's in use...) So no joy there, either.

Verify the cache from the warframe launcher not from steam. Run warframe wait for the launcher to start go to option and hit verify.

No longer have that option; as I mentioned, WF is now almost entirely deleted (or so Steam claims), except for the file "appmanifest_230410.acf", which is locked by the "rundll.exe" system prog: the file can't be deleted, and is also preventing re-installation of the game. I'm stuck.

Are you an admin on your computer? If not, then i could see why there are a number of issues arising.

Also where is your steam installed to on your remote drive? Best practice is to have steam NOT in /Program Files or /Program Files (x86). Having Steam and any Steam Libraries in those two locations can cause a bunch of issues exactly like your describing.

Common practice is to have steam installed on the C:/Users/{user logged in}/Desktop/Steam and then have a library on the main directory of the hardrive or even in another folder on that drive (such as D:/Games/SteamLibrary). Doing this would, i think, also not needing to run Steam as Admin, though I'm not sure as I've always done /Desktop install method.

For example, my steam warframe install is here D:\SteamLibrary\SteamApps\common\Warframe
    and my standalone is D:\GAMES\WARFRAME

I'm always an admin - I like being the one in charge. I don't recall Steam giving me the option of choosing an install location. My remote drive Steam library is right off the main directory, under F:/SteamLibrary/... My Steam client install is under C:/Program FIles (x86)/Steam/... but this is also where it installed (I believe) on my old system, and I've got well over a hundred Steam games in my library and that install never even farted loudly. I see no cause why the same installation on this new system would cause game-crashing errors - am I missing something? My standalone WF client is on my old system, but on the new system I DLed the Steam version of WF so I could purchase TennoGen items, which you (mostly) can't using the standalone client.

linking the client outside of steam doesn't put it on steam. therefore steam cannot verify data because it is not in steams folders. Try downloading the client via steam. or unlink from steam and verify through your client.

one note- you can download the client on steam, and keep the offsteam client as well. you cannot log into both at the same time on one computer, how ever you can have the option of logging into either if you wish.

I did previously verify the Steam DL via the WF launcher tool, but it didn't solve the problem, which at that time was just the pop-up windows. I tried using the Steam client to repair any damaged files from the Steam DL, but when I got to the window the Steam help page described, the text was just that - text. My client didn't show it as a clickable button, (as the help page described it) which made me wonder if the help page had simply gone out of date with a more recently-updated Steam client. In any event, the option to Repair Files was unavailable to me via Steam.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys. But right now I need to know how/why this particular file is considered "locked" by Windows, and thus preventing me from either deleting it, or installing over/around it.

  9. I recently switched from playing WF thru the standalone client to linking my account through my existing Steam. I immediately began seeing system pop-ups during gameplay, with a warning that roughly said (IIRC) 'another program is trying to access the cache, and WF couldn't update the cache'. I could click past it, so I didn't pay it much attention, although I'd never seen this warning prior to linking to Steam.

Yesterday, WF began hanging during the "Searching for New Content" screen, and the game became unplayable. I looked to Steam for help, and their help page suggested verifying the game files. The button they described wasn't a button for me, just unclickable text. I didn't know whether that meant the suggestion was out of date with the current Steam client, or if my Steam install had somehow become pooched. (When the pop-up windows first started happening I verified the game cache through the WF launcher tools.) So I figured the best thing to do at this point was simply tear the whole thing down and just delete & re-install the game.

While doing that I got a message that a file was being used by a Windows system file (a .dll file) and for that reason was locked and could not be deleted. The same problem file is also preventing me from re-installing the game, and can't be manually deleted for the same reason. I've never run into this issue before, with WF or any other game delete/install. So I'm effectively prevented from playing WF right now. Any suggestions?

In case it matters, my computer is about 2 weeks old, my OS is on my SSD "C" drive, and all Steam DLs including WF are on a stand-alone mechanical remote drive.

what i was referring to was see above

read the FAQ on why Cross plat form wont happen

Yes, it is interesting what they said there. What's also interesting is what they didn't address there. I don't know how long you've been playing WF, but I was here when this issue first arose when DE ported WF over to PS. Suffice it to say, there's more to it than just what DE said -for the record- in that FAQ.

  11. Having the same issue. Just recently switched over from the standalone client to running through Steam, and right about that same time I started having issues with WF. The launcher hanging on "Searching for New Content" is one, and getting a pop-up "Unable to update cache..." window during games is another. Don't be a PITA, Steam...

Crossplay is possible, however, DE cant be bothered witholding updates for PC until consoles get it at the same time, which will take quite a bit due to the cert process. And also DE would have to work extra hard to make sure the updates are not as buggy as usual so they can pass the Cert process too.

I'm sure half the PC crowd would hate it if they were getting updates later thanks to consoles just because of crossplay.

Did you really pay attention to the tone of your reply? ",,DE can't be bothered withholding updates..." and "...the PC crowd would hate if if they were getting updates later thanks to consoles..."

Of COURSE PC players would hate waiting longer for updates - what benefit would they get in return for waiting longer? Sure, there are PC players who would like to have crossplay with consoles. But I'm guessing -and this is just my humble opinion- that the majority of the support for crossplay comes from console players, because they stand to gain the most from it. Don't look down your nose at players and devs just because they don't see things the same as you. Folk who don't agree with your POV aren't 'wrong'. Reasonable minds can differ.

  13. Not disagreeing with you, OP, in principal. But while WF used to be co-op, any more IMHO most missions are nothing more than 4 players Soloing together - there's very little in the way of co-op, like you describe. I think in WOW because of the culture of the game it's understood that you need a certain mix of roles in order to be successful. But in WF nowadays, everybody seems willing to kite the missions, kill only when they have to, grab the Sparklie reward and get the hell outta Dodge. Players leave teammates behind at elevators all the time, and some even let let teammates die rather than run back and rez them. WF is very much an "I got mine, you get yours" environment right now. So I don't know if the whole idea of forcing players who are used to running PUG missions as 'Solos-with-an-audience' (as it were), to set aside their own personal goals and work together, as they do in WOW, for the success of the mission would succeed in WF.

they say Cross play wont happen because the items materialisation is different from PC to Consoles.

There should be Cross play for PVP ONLY and PVE if it allows not Trading,so the System imbalances can be dodged

Fornite allows cross platform  and Final Fnatasy XIV

With respect, I think you're confusing technical feasibility with Will. Of course a way could be found. What's lacking is the will to do it, on the part of all parties concerned.

  15. It's possible, but NVDL (Not Very Damn Likely). Technically, the builds have to be in sync, which only happened once, when WF was first introduced to each platform. Then of course there's the politics; since XBone is built IIRC on a flavor of Windows, cross play there is presumably much easier than with PS, which IIRC is built on a flavor of Linux. Plus, Sony supposedly dislikes the idea of crossplay with it's competition as a matter of policy.

    So....prolly don't hold your breath.
