    Tenno 'Beowulf' Rifle

“A descendant of the Euston, this build has a half of its older brother’s magazine size, but makes up for this by firing higher-caliber explosive rounds… in three-round burst. It has less margin for error, but few things can survive a full burst from it completely intact.”

    Codex

    Tenno 'Beowulf' Rifle

    Lore

A descendant of the Euston rifle, used by guards during the final days of the Old War. As resources were growing somewhat scarcer towards this era, the Euston Wraith prioritizes shot-for-shot power over volume of fire. It was a common sight among Tenno, Dax, and even Grineer guards for important sites such as the grand coliseums that would one day hail the tenno as saviors.

As with its elder brother, the Beowulf is composed of two components:

    ‘Beowulf’ rifle

A fast-firing three-round auto-burst rifle chambered for explosive micromissiles, accurately described as “the poor man’s Catafalque.”

While its magazine capacity is small by Origin System standards, it makes up for this by firing really, really big bullets. Each semi-armor piercing round was designed to punch through the same hole in Sentient armor and explode, dealing massive damage.

In addition, zooming in with this weapon will (similar to the Naga revolver) overcharge the next shot fired. Aiming for 1 second with this weapon will increase the damage, headshot multiplier, and blast radius of the next shot fired. As this charge function is automated, you can just let loose immediate followup shots.

Measured, paced shots towards enemy heads will result in each round landing in roughly the same place.

Firing more than two successive bursts… yeah, maybe don’t do that. At  that point, the vertical recoil will grow extremely hard to manage, and it will start bucking from left to right.

While it’s capable of half the bursts of the Catafalque, even its explosions have far better antiarmor performance, as its explosions hurl waves of prefragmented nano-shrapnel. Its rounds are equipped with dense penetrators, which stab into flesh and armor like a Tenno rapier.

    ‘Equis’ Launcher

It functions identically to the Euston’s, being able to rebuild ammo on the fly… but unlike the Euston’s Equis launcher, which can hold three grenades, the Beowulf’s fires a rather… unique rocket projectile.

As such, it doesn’t arc like the Euston’s launcher. It has an effect not dissimilar too Nightwatch Napalm, creating small pockets of fire within a sphere around the impact area. The fire will deal 30% of the weapon's modified base damage as Heat damage with 68% chance to proc over 6 seconds…

Except on impact, it has a cluster bomb-like effect, splitting into three napalm spheres.  This made it an extremely valuable tool up through the infested outbreaks common till the midpoint of the Age of Despots.

To cut down on logistical issues and prevent Tenno from being covered in ammo, the Beowulf uses an onboard manufactory to create munitions for its underbarrel launcher. This unfortunately means it can’t fire as a shotgun, and also means it can’t be manually reloaded. Because of reasons, firing the launcher also consumes one ammo unit from the primary magazine. I have no idea how this works but that’s beside the point.

It takes 5 seconds per round to regenerate the ammunition in the Beowulf’s launcher’s mag. The grenade launcher is a separate fire mode in the vein of the Argonak or Stradavar’s select-fire, not something activated by just tapping the alt fire button.

    Artist notes:

The stats come after this because SWEET LAWD THAT’S A LOT OF CRUNCH

Anyway, I actually shooped this together back in March but never got around to it! I was in Zion National Park (that was a good time) and that made me think about the Survivalist’s Rifle and the Euston Rifle I drew awhile back. I wanted to make something that felt like the Survivalist Rifle to the Euston’s M16 series.

(I use M16 sort of generally here - the Euston is heavily based on the original wooden furniture AR-10s, but it has a grenade launcher so that evokes images of the original M16)

So as a result, it has about a third of the trigger pulls of the rifle it’s built from, (Giving it 12 felt more fun) and fires much bigger bullets.

Making it burstfire was just a way of making it stand out a little more. Making it auto-burst and having it charge while aimed (the 30-30 from Apex Legends was a big influence there) was just a Shower Thought, cause I figured it’d be funny. The DMR-like behavior is a result of the AM-16 Gruppa from Aliens Fireteam.

This is really meant to feel like a generalist sort of firearm. You can use it as an assault rifle, (sort of, given that it gets uncontrollable after two successive bursts) a DMR, a launcher, and you can get this great feeling like you’re causing everything to explode as you hold this.

    Kraton 'Iocusta' Twin Machine Pistols

“These machine pistols, invented by the long-dead Kraton of Iapetus, conceal their surprising deadliness behind their small size. Each pistol can be individually charged by tapping the altfire key, which can allow you to fire away with one pistol as the other automatically charges up a devastating burst of homing shots… or firing them both to target six enemies in two devastating bursts.”
    --Codex

    kraton__iocusta__twin_machine_pistols_byMechanics

Shots on enemies build up data - this works similar to how Incarnon weapons build up charge that can be expended at any time. Data can be expended by tapping the altfire key. This activates the homing attack, which is represented as an auto-charge effect similar to the Tenora’s altfire. You can hold enough of it attack three enemies per charged attack - or six, if you altfire both pistols in quick succession.

As it charges up, this is represented by 1-3 red lines curving out from the device under the barrel, tracking to nearby enemies (depending on how much data you have)

    Lore

Dual machine pistols from the Age of Despots, invented by the long-dead Kraton of Iapetus. Each pistol automatically cycles three-round bursts from 45-round magazines, (for a total of 90 shots or 30 bursts) and is capable of charging up a homing attack not dissimilar to that of the Sepulcrum or Tenet Diplos.

The Kraton were undisputed masters of nanotechnology and “smart” technology, rivaling - if not beating - the ancient Esha that once fought the Orokin. The ‘Iocusta’ exemplifies these strengths through both its auto-aim capacity… and its nanite munitions.

Each round it fires is composed of nano-substrate that transmits information back to the pistol, allowing it to collect data on weakpoints and target placement for more damaging attacks.

The applications for this are numerous. A user can be plinking away with one pistol at half the fire rate as its counterpart is charging itself for a homing attack. As this happens, the uncharged pistol fires with an increased delay between bursts (with slightly increased damage). Or, perhaps, they can charge both at once, for a devastating burst of six homing shots.

One wonders just how dangerous a member of the Kraton would have been, armed with these weapons.

Dr. Kanageyan here - evidently, the Nanocaust was not taken from the Esha, it was made by the Kraton. We’re gonna have to edit the Codex on that one.

The people of the Kraton experimented with humanity, not breaking past its boundaries in the same way as the Orokin or the Celian Continuity, but pushing against these limits all the same. Each member of the Kraton grew up with advanced implants that grew with their body, allowing them to vote on any decision their society put forth and view the polls on any issue. Each of them also had the ability to share sensory information, such as sight, touch, and sound.

It made their sexual behavior really void-damn weird. ~Dr. Kanageyan

While it wasn’t exactly a hive mind, it nonetheless earned them the nickname of ‘Hivers’ from their neighbors on Enceladus and Titan.

While this had wide societal implications, it made the Grineer campaign against them an utter nightmare. Anyone who saw them could - and most likely was - relaying information to strategists the Kraton had elected into military positions. Any of them could be the designator for artillery strikes or bombardments from the Kraton’s primitive (but no less deadly) air force.

The Grineer eventually killed them through orbital bombardment and sheer weight of numbers, before importing in slaves and Grineer laborers from their inner planet holdings. Iapetus was later used mostly as a food production planet by the Grineer - and, with the massive amount of workers, this necessitated the creation of the Iapetan Shieldwall, a network of fortresses spanning Iapetus’ equatorial mountain range.

As a result of this devastation, few relics of Kraton engineering survive to the present day of the Origin System. This makes relics such as the Nanocaust and ‘Iocusta’ unspeakably rare…

    Artist notes

So, for anyone who knows the lore I sprinkle in, this is a retcon. And I’m sorry for that. Originally, the Nanocaust rifle was made by unknowns, and it was just found somewhere at the furthest reaches of the Solar System.

    …And now it’s from Iapetus.

So why did I do this? Well, it’s… honestly hard for me to come up with new aesthetics. Most of what I do there is bash together extant stuff (this is sort of a hybrid of the Reactive Flatline skin and several things from Destiny 2, it’d take too long to list) and making something with this many hexagons a reference to smartguns from Cyberpunk just… made sense somehow.

I just really wanted to homage smart pistols from CP2077, as I have been in a… Mood… due to Edgerunners. Edgerunners is hella tight. I think I should draw Rebecca soon. I will probably ponify her at some point. Where was I? Oh, right! My undiagnosed ADHD.

I don’t know what I’ll do next with Iapetans. Perhaps a whip made of nanomachines (SON)? I’m not going to make energy weaponry for them, I want to focus mostly on nanite-based weapons.

Perhaps a launcher. That would be neat.

Really like the aesthetics of this one, just like the Nanocaust. Also first the Cerbera now Iocusta you're really knocking it out of the park with these dual pistols lately!

Thanks so much... and I'd like to say you hit the nail right on the head.

Snipers in Warframe are... pretty neglected. Unless I'm just screwing around in PoE or wherev, I see no reason to bring one on most missions cause I need something that's good against crowds either through sheer volume of fire (my Soma Prime has a RoF of 1395 RPM. That's faster than an M249 with twice the boolets) or damage (most of the revolvers I use) and/or AoE (Sepulcrum).

    ...Snipers don't have these advantages.

Anyway, I figured that the best-case scenario for this thing being more used was to push it more into battle rifle territory.

True, one arcane that makes snipers a lot more usable is arcane momentum which increases sniper reload speed on a crit which helps by decreasing downtime. But even that can only do soo much.

Tenno 'Harken' Sniper Rifle (the RE-STATTING)
"Seek the weakest points of your enemies with the Harken, or use it to create new ones.”
    --Codex

    Special traits:
Penetrator Rounds: creates weakpoints on hit. Shooting these weakpoints deals bonus damage*.
Brainstormer: Headshot kills cause enemies to explode.
Smart Scope: Highlights enemies while scoped in. Comes with backup 1x zoom for use at short-medium range.

    dcnq0hs-32fb7010-4e96-45f1-94eb-8cff3c71

    LORE

Sniper rifles are designed with the principle of ‘one shot, one kill’ in mind. The Harken is a bullpup bolt-action designed for targets that’ll take more than one shot from a sniper. According to Martialis Armory, who pioneered the design, the Harken was designed for use against Sentients in particular, built to crack their armor from afar for Tenno and Grineer fighters.

Hits from this weapon create weakpoints at the point of impact, not dissimilar to those created by Banshee. Firing on these weak points deals bonus damage. In addition, data on these weak points (and enemies) is relayed to allied Tenno through the use of its smart scope.

This scope has so many functions that the gun earned the nickname of a scope with a gun attached. It highlights enemies for nearby Tenno, and does so many calculations that Ten, Dax, and Zero-techs alike also joked that it had its own brain, and openly wondered if each rifle had its own cephalon. While the last part was untrue, the first part was… probably untrue. Hopefully.

It’s fed from a 12-round magazine in the stock, loaded in a manner not dissimilar to a conventional bullpup.

Despite its more anti-materiel rifle mechanics, the Harken can work surprisingly well as a battle rifle. It has controllable hip fire and backup holo-dot sights installed atop the smart scope, allowing Tenno to use it in a manner similar to the Latron rifle.

This was unintentional, but as it kept the rifle used more often than other Tenno sniper rifles, the designers at Martialis kept shtum on it.

Just as they kept shtum on the rifle’s… less salubrious uses. In addition to use against Sentient armor, it was often used against “heavy” armor utilized by anti-Orokin insurrectionists. Particularly, it was used against the Iapetan Corpus-funded rebels that would eventually become the Kraton of Iapetus.

According to these early rebels, the rifle’s bullets were primarily composed of nanomachine colonies, which spread through armor plating and flesh like root systems of trees and violently self-destructed upon bullet impacts. To the credit of the Orokin, it didn’t use technocyte to do this.

Many members of the Kraton** would later reverse-engineer the nanites, or pass on the nanomachines to their sons.

    Artist Notes:

Consider this a filler episode of a sort before the next gun gets released. This is a bit of a weird thing for me considering I’m not revamping the artwork… much. But, well, it was pretty good at the time, and I don’t think I need to change that much. It was good enough to get a hundred faves at the time, and this art doesn’t deserve a revamp as frighteningly badly as the old Estampida did.

The same things said about the last one still apply. The scope is still inspired by Trackingpoint, and this is still inspired by the Thorneycroft Carbine and Edrio and Benthic's rifles from Star Wars. Though admittedly, I went a little more in-depth on the scope.

This is, much like the Dzida from awhile back, meant to be a sniper rifle you can feel like you'd take into general missions. Sniper rifles in WF occupy a tinier niche than one of those buildings at Wizarding World Orlando that are so tiny that they're inaccessible to people in wheelchairs. By their nature, they're great at taking out individual enemies... which isn't very useful with the number of enemies WF throws at you. This tends to catch us with our pants down when we're pitted up against rare enemies that genuinely do need sniper-level damage to hit. So this verges into battle rifle territory by having 12 rounds (that's plenty of margin of error, right? If I give it twenty, then it'll feel more like a FAL from Black Ops) and having a regular old 1x zoom mode that lets you scope out, get a less cramped view and some decent shots at this game's typical engagement range.

The explosion is meant to help with that by rewarding good shooting above all.

    OTHER NOTES:
Also, on an unrelated note, I'm gonna be fiddling around with the Euston and Avakan's headshot multipliers - change the Euston's to 3.75x and the Avakan's to 3.3x. The Avakan already has pretty high damage for an assault rifle, I don't need to give it that much damage. Also, the Haoma's fire rate has been buffed to 11.25 to make it less controllable.

(This is sort of a joke but not really - the Haoma was always intended to be a sort of headshot/bullethose hybrid, and making it a little less controllable helps balance it more.)

*Note: This isn't going on any other weaponry. It's too breakable.
    **SOON (tm)

I vaguely remember this one from a while ago, glad you decided to revamp it. I do like the idea of a sniper meant for more general use and the fact that it creates weakpoints on where it hits which gives it the ability to help teammates do more damage. Though that is a rare occurrence(eidolons and now acolytes) those time also happen to be when snipers shine as well.

    • The next gun is gonna be called the TRANSFUSIL! It's... it shouldn't be that hard to guess what it does.
      • If this doesn't work, I have an emergency backup sketch I can use to throw an updort together. I'm not a hundred percent sure what to do with said emergency backup, but I'm at least 70% sure. That's good, right?
    • In addition, I've made a sketch of a redo of the Estampida. I've used that thing as the gold standard for powerful pistols on this thread, which is ironic considering that its art has not aged well at all. It should look a bit uncannier, a bit neater. After that, I may redo either the Bruin or Naga. Haven't decided yet.
    • It really is a bit unfair that the Depezador got as many redraws as it did, so this'll be a good opportunity to bring in new views.
    • Remember that mushroom-themed frame I mentioned awhile ago? Well, I'm still working on them a bit! I'll post updates on the next frame soon enough. She'll be female, of course, all the frames I've made here have been male. The biggest stumbling block I've had with coming up with frames is that it all comes down to crowd control. And while that's not bad, I don't like feeling like I'm doing the same thing super often.

Since that's all I have about a week after the last gun, I'm gonna do another lore updort:

Sounds fun, looking foreword to see what you do with a mushroom themed frame and the lore yo wrote about the age of despots is interesting.

    Appearance

      Reveal hidden contents

Though bearing significant resemblance to Rude Zuud’s “makeshift” firearms, the sievert is not without its own corporate modifications, perhaps to conceal some of its derived nature. The barrel appears to be a hybridization of a grey gaze and tombfinger, with the general tombfinger layout augmented by the top metal railing of the gaze. This railing slots into the bottom of each pistol’s barrel, combining the two weapons together into a bulky-but-comfortable singular format. The receptacle for the grey and square particle cell resides at the very back of the barrel, and consists of a metal skeletal assistance rail that sticks partially out of the top of the weapon. The cell is placed into a rib-cage like container that sits flush with the weapon near the uppermost point (or lowermost point, depending on weapon positioning) and then sinks deep into the weapon towards the central charge plugs. The cell has a male charge point on it’s thin front side and a female charging port on its thin back side, each of which is plugged into by the internal plugs once the cell sinks into position. Like the barrel rails, the top point of each pistol “cell well” can slot into the open bottom of the other and connect the two rails into one unified whole. The trigger is a simple flat piece of metal that extends along the entirety of the back half of the trigger housing space, sinking completely into the grip with each pull. Just like the barrel and cell loader, the triggers merge together into a singular whole, yet are so finely tuned that one finger is still all that is needed for a successful trigger pull. The “projectiles” the weapon fires are heavy emissions of gamma radiation, though, in the absence of a visible effect for the shooter to “walk their fire” with, the barrel contains a heavily shielded dark purple laser diode which illuminates the target harmlessly while it is being harmed by the emissions. Stamped onto each barrel’s right side in Corpus is “FLAGSHIP PRODUCT” with a pseudo-barcode beneath it which leads to the corporate website for third party purchases. Emblazoned on the left side is “BEEKCLOUD: Lovely Machines”.

      Reveal hidden contents

For the Corpus, any foe can provide a financial advantage to an enterprising corporate component, one way or another. The Conglomerate’s continuous trade in group 13 metals and polymers with the Grineer Empire despite abhorrent diplomatic relations stand in clear testament to that fact, as is the commonly uttered mantra among the leadership “Profit numbs the feeling”. Even in the case of the “anarchic rabble” of the inhabitants of Fortuna, so ideologically opposed and so culturally close as to sting whenever civilian unrest must be put down, no stone is unturned in the quest for the next big thing. Alas, in the case of the Sievert, sometimes the possibilities for maverick projects are snagged right out from under the collective noses of an unwary ally, albeit, in the Corpus Conglomerate, “Ally” is a very fluid term. Commissioned by Anyo Corp with the refurbishing of Fortuna in the aftermath of the Narmor Crises during that brief time of cross-conglomerate unity, Beekcloud had its eyes on the future when the goodwill would inevitably fade.

For every body that was disposed of, every gaudy decoration ripped down, and every vent resecured, there was always a bug to plant in an inconspicuous locale, a data trawler to plunge into the depths of a workstation, or an aural microphone to interweave into the structure of a support. Produced and planted by cheap third-party contractors convinced to remain tight-lipped about “the new anti-narmor measures” being installed, Beekloud has effectively full coverage of the station, short of actual security’s checkpoints and workplaces. In truth, Anyo’s “dirty laundry”, whatever it may be, is entirely irrelevant to the espionage team in charge of signals intelligence for this small “pet project”. Instead, the goal is actually Anyo’s most squandered resource in their eyes, the exploitable talents of its volatile citizens. Through this vast web of surveillance, personal projects from notable residents can be analyzed, monitored, produced, and then patented whole-sale, with none of the subterranean-bound citizenry privy to the poaching of their ideas and no need for costly expenditures on things such as “commissions” or “patent payments”.

Through this system, a certain valuable someone was discovered, a defective worker going by the moniker “Rude Zuud” who had an affinity for the construction of weaponry for the local Solaris United worker resistance cells, disguised digitally as “tool maintenance transactions'”. Months of tireless monitoring (as well as recovery time for monitoring personnel, as the asset’s muttered rhetoric either struck to close to home or grated painfully against employee psyches) resulted in a cornucopia of useful data on the repurposing of basic industrial components into ruggedly lethal combat implements. With a bit of component redistribution from palm-greased suppliers and an incremental increase in worker workloads at their foundries, Beekloud’s first prototype runs have begun seeing shelves system wide. Though said sales have been far and away from Anyo Corp strongholds and Solaris safehouses, it is unclear just what might happen if either learns of the company's deceit, something made even more unstable with possible third part sales or “five-finger discounts” of derived products. For now, Beekloud is simply content with acquiring yet another lucrative income source, and will, at the very least, seek to tap this market until the proverbial well runs dry, with a bare minimum of maintenance input save for the first-time cost input needed to start an operation. So it so very often goes with the Corpus.

So it is written, and so it goes! Goddem, what was it, three months, four since I last posted an update in here? I'm surprised I have any follows left at all, much less anyone answering back after I make a posting! The struggle continues in the epic battle between "Quality" and "Regularity" in the now truly subterranean depths of the Pit! How low can we go? Who knows!

Glad to see that you're back. I really like the idea of a weapon that switches between 2 different forms  as well as the fact that is draws from 2 different ammo pools.

The lore for it is also amusing though if/when SU discovers what Beekloud is up do I think they might get a visit from some tenno who just want to talk to them.

Best guess is it'd also act like an AoE weapon but the slugs would pop on impact, spraying acid everywhere. Maybe.... toxin damage on impact, radial corrosive, mostly status-focused but with okayish crit.

That does sound fun, maybe give it an altifre mode where instead of exploding in impact the slugs stick to and gnaw at the target for some damage over time.

    Corpus 'Centra' Shotgun

“The larger counterpart of the Cerbera. This weapon was actually meant to serve as a sidearm for particularly heavyset Corpus crewmen. It replaces the top laser with magnetic rails that hurl a plasmoid towards enemies, and uses the bottom laser to guide the plasmoid.”
    --Codex

Special Traits: Brainstormer - deals guaranteed electric procs on headshots

    corpus__centra__shotgun_by_fluffywolf36_

    Lore

The larger version of the Cerbera dual pistols. It uses one of that weapon’s lasers to ionize the air to guide a plasma projectile.

And as a descendant of that series, it has a number of that weapon’s same peculiarities. Like them, it’s prone to overheating, though it always takes eight shots. At that point the gun will be forced to cool itself. Coolant is engaged through a particularly unique mechanism typical of post-Granum Schism in its oddity. Not unlike a lever-action weapon,  the weapon’s barrel assembly and receiver separate horizontally to reveal a cylinder perpendicular to the trigger guard. Then, the user flip-cocks the weapon, not unlike a one-handed levergun such as a Euphona Prime, spinning the barrel assembly around…. And snapping it back into place. This is probably the best visual reference for how it reloads.

In fact, the Centra was originally designed as a sidearm for particularly tall Corpus crewmen. While a version of the Centra upsized to this size exists, this version was designed to function as a shotgun. It was a questionable decision - one scorned by Corpus crewmen that had grown to like the Plasmor and Exergis.

But nonetheless, the Centra gained a following among Corpus troops who wanted a weapon with high stopping power and a little more range than a beam gun. Nothing so long and cumbersome as a Lanka.

The Centra is incapable of the sheer room-clearing devastation of the Plasmor… but instead, it electromagnetically launches a plasma charge, not dissimilar to the Lanka. It has greater short-range stopping power than an uncharged Lanka shot, easily overpenetrating enemies, but gradually starts dropping and decreasing in velocity and accuracy after a short distance, exploding in a cascade of electricity on impact with hard surfaces.

In addition, it can be overcharged to fire a more damaging shot that explodes on contact with anything.

While it explodes against most cover, such as Grineer ballistic shields, it has near-infinite punch-through on organic targets.

In this way, it fulfills the role of a slug shotgun in the Corpus arsenal.

There’s one rather offbeat trait it possesses, however. On headshots, it deals a guaranteed electricity proc. How and why exactly it does this is unknown, but Granum’s personal arms factories - those that manufacture equipment for his Sisters - attribute it to revolutionary Orokin and Narmer archeotech integrated into its design, similar to Tenno weapons such as the Knell, Depezador Prime, or Magnus Prime.

Sufficiently large-bodied Corpus crewmen are known to dual-wield these like sidearms.

While many Corpus prefer Amprexes, for use against Infested, the Centra is nonetheless quite popular for Infested-clearing squads. It punches through Infested, it explodes on hard surfaces, and it has more range than a Plasmor - which, for all its raw power, requires you to be real close up to your enemies.

The shotgun version of the last weapon i made. It reloads the  same way, it’s kind of like a levergun… but, not exactly, because you only flip the lever when you reload it.

The Chaperone was a minor influence on this - I liked the “stockless slug levergun” idea here.

Looks fun, I like the aesthetic, and we could use more slug shotguns as ,unless I'm mistaken, we only have the Astilla and Astilla prime. Assuming the Arca Plasmore and like don't count.

    Corpus 'Cerbera' Dual Pistols

“A recent innovation built from reverse-engineered Dziewannan firearms. Much like them, it’s fed from an easily-overheated battery… and unlike them, it can’t fire while overheated.

Unfortunately, it has a slower fire rate… and the Corpus compensated for this by giving it a Link system similar to those of many dual pistols of the Origin System. Each pistol can be individually charged by tapping the altfire key, which can allow you to fire away with one pistol as the other automatically charges a devastating shot… or, perhaps, overcharging them both to hammer into enemies with dual high-damage beams.

    They’re reloaded by flip-cocking them like lever-actions!”
    --Codex

    corpus__cerbera__dual_pistols_by_fluffyw

    Lore

The most unique dual pistols in the Origin System, in the sense that they truly feel like two individual pistols operating independently from each other. It was reverse-engineered from the Dziewannan “Dhomochevsky” pistol, and much like that pistol, it has a charged-shot function and is prone to overheating…

…but uniquely, neither pistol overheats (or charges) at exactly the same time, meaning that a user can be plinking away with one pistol at half the fire rate as its counterpart is either overheated or readying itself for a devastating high-damage beam. Or, perhaps, they can charge both at once.

(In-game, this is done by tapping the altfire key twice. It’s auto-charge so you don’t have to do anything there.)

Each pistol holds eight reach ounds, but due to various components simply not being as durable as those in the Dhomochevsky, they’re prone to overheating after firing anywhere from 5 to 9 shots, at which point the gun will be forced to cool itself. Coolant is engaged through a particularly unique mechanism typical of post-Granum Schism in its oddity.  The weapon’s barrel assembly and receiver separate horizontally to reveal a cylinder perpendicular to the trigger guard. Then, the user flip-cocks the weapon, not unlike a one-handed levergun such as a Euphona Prime, spinning the barrel assembly around…. And snapping it back into place. This is probably the best visual reference for how it reloads.

Granum’s holdings - which build the Cerbera - have so far refused to admit how this works.

While one pistol is flip-cocking, the wielder is able to keep up fairly consistent fire with its counterpart… at half the fire rate.

Because of its style, these pistols are particularly beloved among Corpus Comba troops who have enough money to burn that they can easily afford these. It’s a common sight in Corpus shield-duels at academies, in which Corpus aristos (and others who achieved admission) duel with weapons of their choice such as electro-rapiers. Usually, no real lethal wounds are made, and it ends once a participant’s shield has broken… and, hopefully, once said aristos have received scars that strike the right balance between “impressive,” ”not disfiguring,” and “handsome.”

This is helpful during inter-corpus negotiations, but not so much against Tenno - many of whom, such as Haruka Lorne, have a tendency to shoot helmets off and leave their bodies barely recognizable.

    My first dual pistol(s)!

As inspired by (of all things) the Warmaker Pistols from Darkwatch. I’ve never played Darkwatch, but one of their advantages is how you can put out two shots at once because they’re dual wielded. And in WF… dual wielding has never exactly felt like you have two pistols. If you were to extend the magazine of a certain pistol by 100%, I wouldn’t feel that different from the akimbo version.

Then again, I don’t use the single versions of dual pistols I own that much.

So this was sort of an experiment: How do I make it feel like you’re using two unique pistols? Having one reload or charge as you fire the other felt right.

Originally, this was actually concept I was gonna use for the Dhomochevsky awhile ago. Aesthetically, these are heavily based on Beyond the Grave’s pistols from Gungrave.

I love the design for these, they look futuristic and have the somewhat blocky design many corpus weapons have.  Stat wise it's also pretty interesting with it having a rechargeable battery from what I understand and since there are 2 of them you can keep shooting while the other reloads. along with an altfire for dealing with crowds. I could defintely see myself using the Cerbera if they were ever added to warframe.

On that note I really hope de decides to do a primary/secondary weapon contest at some point.

Agreed, if they Sepulcrum was full auto then it could be a warframe storm bolter but as it is? Not quite. The Catafalque dose seem alot closer.

    Entrati 'Catafalque' Double Gun

“ This weapon was created by Father Entrati and Haruka Lorne for Dax Jubal the Smiler, as a carbine version of the Sepulcrum. But, those two being who they were, it wasn’t that simple. In addition to being more balanced and portable than the Sepulcrum, it boasts in auto-burst trigger that automatically fires four-round bursts from its alternating recoiling barrels, saturating enemies with explosives.

Alt fire puts the weapon in lock-on mode. Aim to lock onto multiple targets, then fire to unleash homing missiles.

    entrati__catafalque__double_gun_by_fluff

    Lore

A blend of Tenno and Entrati stylings. The Catafalque was rediscovered by Haruka Lorne and Father Entrati, both of whom consumed considerable amounts of entheogens while using Ayatans to recover their lost memories.

It’s hard not to think they got something wrong in translation, which likely explains a lot about the behavior of this weapon.

It’s a bizarre automatic weapon taking up a possibly non-euclidean niche somewhere between an SMG, an LMG, a DMR, explosive weapons, and possibly shotguns. It automatically fires in four round bursts, (technically it fires two overlapping two-round bursts, but that’s not important) hammering into enemies with armor-piercing explosive rounds that do radial heat damage.

The Catafalque is an excellent weapon in that it can be used for any situation requiring explosives, automatic weaponry, or crowd control. Its only shortcomings are its considerable recoil after the first burst, a long reload, and somewhat low projectile velocity compared to the average bullets of the Origin System - for example, a custom Quartakk from the Kuva Fortress deals less damage, but fires higher-velocity rounds at an incredibly fast rate.

At the end of the day though - whichever day we’re talking.depending on planets or moons or even artificial cycles on asteroids - Nothing survives a four-round burst from this weapon entirely intact.

While it was originally custom designed for Dax Jubal, (one of the few Dax other than Mad Ori who enjoyed the use of firearms) it found a niche in the Orokin era as a compact, easy-to-aim weapon for use in close quarters.

In particular, it was used by various Entrati “cousins,” cadet branches, and kocho such as Uncle [REDACTED] to explore and harvest Infested Plague Stars - a catchall term for celestial bodies that have been (virtually) overtaken by technocytic growth. Not unlike the Plague Stars that fell upon the Plains of Eidolon, or the one that fell just outside the Orb Vallis near the entrance to Deck 12, creating the Draugr Strain of Infested - or the one that fell on Ceres, creating the Venenum Strain.

The most extreme example of the Origin System would be Deimos. Eris might be an example, though some Corpus facilities exist within the bounds of its frozen poles so it’s not a true example.

While these are seen as navigation hazards at best and existential threats to nearby settlements at worst, they were quite valued during Orokin times, seen as (sometimes literal) gold mines of valuable technocytic components synthesized together from organic material, metal, and machinery.

…Nobody really liked talking about where the organic material came from, as it was definitely from native flora that the Orokin had geneforged, and definitely not from people who were definitely hopefully not conscious somewhere inside the infested cutaneum.

Of course when even this was too large for use indoors, the Tenno and Archimedean personnel would be issued high-caliber sidearms such as Vasto Primes, Lex Primes, Depezador Primes, and Estampidas. Or a Euphona.

Nowadays, it is also used to clear infestations of an entirely different sort - Corpus intent on stripping inhabited moons and asteroids under the guise of trade and cultural exchange, Grineer hellbent on destroying all that isn’t Grineer, and even Sentient fragments and Corrupted servitors still intent on fighting a war that’s been lost for countless millennia.

Against all odds, a few exist within Cetus’ armory under the watchful eye of Vikra Ohgun, for use against ‘feral’ Sentients such as Eidolons or remnants of the Second Sentient War.

This weapon’s blueprint is given as a reward at the end of the quest The Heart Still Beats. This would’ve come with that, but I also have gone nearly two weeks without posting and I don’t like that sort of thing.

    Animation Notes:

The panels on the side of the magazine move to the side, and the magazine is drawn into place by various motors in the receiver.

Both barrels recoil. There’s a non-zero chance you won’t be able to see this, but it does look cool.

    Has a reciprocating charging handle

    Comparisons:

Quartakk:This still has better crit numbers and slightly faster DPS, and it’s better against single targets. At least while aimed. I really don’t care about its full-auto.

Nanocaust: That has better stats in pretty much every way… except magazine. This is auto burst though, so it has slightly better sustained damage.

    Artist Notes:

In the early days of the thread,  one of my goals was to come up with stuff that I felt would fill untouched niches. Corpus shotguns and pistols, more Tenno revolvers, battle rifles, a rocket launcher, and my ideal grenade launcher.

This… is not one of them.

Honestly? I just wanted to import in something that felt like my Double Gun from Outriders. In addition to being a primary Sepulcrum. It’s also got more status to set it apart. There’s also some minor influence from the Calus’ Promise ornament in Destiny 2, as combined with a Storm Bolter.

Incidentally, I also owe the name of this weapon to China Mieville! His description of High Cromlech mentioned various catafalques, and as often happens when you read a China Mieville novel and wonder what the hell words like “concatenate” or “inveigle” or “puissant” mean (I’m not explaining it) I got to wondering. See, a catafalque is a decorated wooden framework supporting the coffin of a distinguished person during a funeral or while lying in state. With the Entrati naming scheme being what it is, this just… made sense.

(In hindsight, this would have made it funny if I made it an adaptation of the Trumna, but it’s too late and I like the word ‘catafalque’)

Entrati weapons are… extremely hard to draw. If any of you ask me to make one, I will ask for payment, because seriously, it’s hard to get these right. There’s a reason I copypaste in so many parts.

This is pretty cool, it would be funny to stack as much fire rate and multishot as you could on it, via mods and warframe abilities to see how fast you could get it to vomit the entire magazine out.

I'm also a sucker for weapons that shoot explosive rounds.

    Tenno 'Charbon Prime' Revolver

“This revolver fires hollowpoint rounds tipped with void crystals. Upon impact, the crystal fragments are flung outward, ripping through vulnerable flesh. Upon headshots, however, the fragments change trajectory and arc back to the original point of impact, lacerating the skull. On headshot kills, however, fragments home in on nearby enemies. Strangely, the combined mass of fragments far exceeds the mass before the original shattering.

Hold down the trigger to increase its punch-through.”

    --Codex

    tenno__charbon__revolver_by_fluffywolf36

    Lore

This was one of the strangest commissions I made.”
    –Haruka Lorne

Haruka Lorne-built revolver firing crystal-tipped ammunition. Unlike other Tenno firearms, the ammo is surprisingly complex.

The Charbon Prime fires hollowpoint rounds with poor penetration. The hollows are then filled with a void-resonant crystal which shatters on impact, flinging outwards three improbably sharp shards that seem to seek the hollows in nearby enemies armor, causing massive internal bleeding. Strangely, the combined mass of the shards seems to exceed the mass of the crystal kept in the hollow.

If you were to add punch-through to this, it’d just shatter on walls instead of enemies. Similar to the Kuva Drakgoon, it’s incapable of having object punch-through.

To exploit this, Haruka Lorne added a charge mechanism that increases the velocity of its bullets, which hurls them through enemies, leaving them shattering against hard surfaces such as walls, vehicles, and heavy armor.

On headshots, things become more interesting. The projectiles travel a short distance from the point of impact… and promptly turn back towards the point of impact, dealing damage to the head again. If the enemy dies from the original headshot, the crystal fragments will seek out a nearby enemy. How or why this happens is unknown.

This process is totally unaffected by punch-through if you are to add it. You can totally just shoot someone in the head, fire out homing projectiles from said head, overpenetrate another enemy, and cause a shotgun-like effect as the round shatters against a wall. On that note, it’s possible to shoot around a corner and fire off a shotgun-like spray around a corner.

The Charbon Prime is, not to put too fine a point on it, excellent against Infested, even moreso than the other revolvers of Haruka Lorne. It can deal scratch damage to those Infested in a short radius of the original target, headshots aren’t required for optimal damage, and it has really good slash.

It’s not exclusively good against Infested, however. Obviously, it’s great against Grineer and Corpus. It’s just that against Infested, it’s an excellent mid-road between precision and power.

    STAT NOTES:
There’s a cosmetic effect on headshots of the fragments spraying out and arcing back towards the head. In terms of gameplay, it’s just expressed as bonus headshot damage. Actually statting those projectiles was too much work, and it would run the risk of every headshot possibly being able to deal like 12 status effects and crit 12 times. I don’t think that’s a good idea. I’ll go into that in Artist Notes.

    Artist Notes

So, I have… a number of weapons that are dependent on headshots for crowd control. There’s the Makina, Vernal, and Athenaeum, which do radial damage on headshots (and are, quite frankly, a nightmare to balance). There’s also the Jubal and Adjudicas, which have headshot ricochets like a Jakobs except they can be pushed to ridiculous extents. There’s also the Oribi (that’s old lol) that just has the Jakobs ricochet combined with the Peacekeeper from Apex, and also the Un Lobito (GUITAR CHORD) revolver, which does heat damage explosions on headshot kills.

So eventually I asked myself: “How do I make the opposite?”

And this was the answer - something that does more crowd control on body shots, but not headshots. To compensate, it has great headshot damage. I balanced this against the Estampida pistol (which is 4 years old. Man, that art needs a remaster) so it does less damage, especially on headshots. The homing on headshot kills is just because… at that point? Why not.

Trying to create this gimmick was actually surprisingly difficult. Originally, I planned on making each fragment individually do damage, and that was… that was too much work. There’s three reasons for this.

First, it means I’m not giving it the ability to do up to 12 status effects on one headshot. Assuming a riven isn’t in play.  I’ve never balanced a game in my life, but that sounds like a nightmare.

Secondly, it means I’m not being forced to twist the stats into a pretzel by giving it less than 80 damage. Thirdly, it means more immediate headshot damage - Warframe exists in a space where dead is the best CC, and an extra second or so to kill enemies might make this feel a bit… off.

The gimmick for the Charbon Prime sound pretty fun. I'd be interested to know who commissioned it from Haruka.

Edit: On that line of thought was Haruka Lorne the tenno version of an online artist but with guns instead of art(though one could argue Harukas weapons could be considered works of art)?

I've considered it, but it feels... a little overwhelming to add it. This is partly because some of the guns I've made (like the Haoma, Fedorova, Naga) were meant as sort of middle-of-the-road guns, intentionally a little underwhelming by WF standards. And partly because I have a lot of guns, and I don't know how to justify adding it.

I'd be interested in adding it for a melee weapon, thought I don't quite have as firm a grasp on Incarnon altfire modes as I do with Entrati altfires.

All that said, I do like this system! It calls to mind using attachments in Aliens Fireteam, and I also like it because... let me put it this way. I know what your crit build looks like for that favorite assault rifle you own, @Neo3602

Well, maybe. Mostly. I'll be at least 50-62.5% accurate, cause this game has too many damn mandatory mods. Which is why I like the evolving weapon mechanic - it adds a way for a gun to feel a little more unique even with mods.

    ohhhhhh that sounds baller

Also, while you're here - any thoughts on some of the lore I hammered out? It didn't actually take very long, but I feel like it's some of my best writing here.

I agree about the modding system with there being so many mandatory mods builds get kind of samey. Rivens can make things more interesting but not always. I think that incarnon style nodes for new/old weapons could make things more interesting.

    More Weapon News

    Found This Thing:

This was actually an earlier version of the Grozza from awhile ago. IDK what I'll do with it now, but i think it's worth reusing if I'm in the mood for another Grineer rifle or SMG.

Really like way the magazine curves around the handle. Along with the three barrels and an underslung(?) thing of some sort. In short it has a lot going on and I like that.

Have you though of using something similar to the Incarnon weapons for future weapons?

Not necessarily a weapon with multiple forms but with different options you can choose from to change it's performance.  IMO something similar to the nodes that incranon weapons have could be a way to add meaningful attachments to weapons that could change a weapons performance without using mod slots.

I really hope DE decides to make weapons with incranon style nodes where you can choose an altfire for it like they showed in the mockup of the system they shoed us a while back.

Since the thread's felt a little listless, I decided I'd work on this one gas damage themed frame. I had some lore written on her awhile back, and it might be fun to do that.

Then again. I could just write up some more Gagarin lore. For once, I don't have as much urge to push it to the side for the sake of a new pistol.

Solaris United / Level Dawn "Gravepuncher" Volt Rifle

“Level Dawn-modified Tombfinger-based kitgun. Instead of projectiles that explode on impact, the Gravepuncher hurls ball lightning through targets, electrocuting anything in a short range of whatever it hits. Tap altfire so it explodes on contact with anything!
    --Codex

    Special Traits:
Does guaranteed electric procs on direct hits.

    solaris_level_dawn__gravepuncher__volt_r

    LORE

A custom Kitgun build from Level Dawn, an anti-Corpus organization based in the Jovians. It's often nicknamed 'The Volter' by some of its users.

Unlike its counterpart, the Zenban, which borders on being a semiautomatic assault rifle on account of its large mag, it has no stealth whatsoever. Thankfully, the Level Dawn saboteurs and agitators who utilize it rarely bring it out in circumstances where stealth is required.

In primary fire, it hurls a ball of lightning with virtually unlimited enemy punch-through that explodes on walls and hard surfaces, dealing a guaranteed electrical proc on whatever it hits. Secondary fire is closer to the tombfinger kitguns from which it was designed - it fires slower, less-stable ball lightning that explodes on impact with anything it hits…. And also deals a guaranteed electric proc on impact. This last one is especially damaging for crowd control - because not only does it have an explosive radius, but it also electrocutes anything within said radius.

High-velocity, armor-piercing mode actually has better zoom, while explosive mode has much more typical zoom for a non-scoped weapon.

It’s typically used for sniping, antimateriel work, and strategic anti-Proxy fighting in a role somewhere between rocket launcher and sniper rifle. It has considerable overlap with the role of the Zenban, which flits between sniper and battle rifle.

It’s not actually as large as it looks in the pictures (as one can see by the mockup of a Tenno holding one) but it is pretty large by the standards of Solaris kitguns. Solaris kitguns are often built from easily-disguised components and pieces of power tools. The result is that they’re often concealable, easy to strip, and highly portable.

The Gravepuncher…. Is not. As Rude Zuud puts it:

“Eyeball this murderizer, outworlder! Right from the Red Eye itself. Those Level Dawn coves took apart my irons and sent this thing back to me, I was right pissed, but we took it out in the range - turns out it’s great against the taxmen. Anything it hits gets electrocuted. Not so good for stealth, but lekker for any time you don’t need to go unseen.”

The grip is easily the size of another firearm, it boasts a barrel almost as long as a Prova, and its discharges are enormous, glowing spheres of ball lightning that make your position extremely clear.

This is emblematic of the biggest difference between Solaris United and Level Dawn. SU has to stay concealed and use subtlety, in addition to typically being in close quarters - LD do not. Level Dawn engages in far more planetside runs than Solaris United, who are more often found in spaceships and the catacombs of Venus. Unlike Solaris United, Level Dawn also have Jovian rigs of their own, sometimes purchased legally and owned as worker co-ops.

And in addition, they no longer have anything near the Solari’s faith in Granum or Anyo’s Temple of Profit - they despise the Corpus prosperity gospel, and wish to destroy it with immense abhorrence. The most extreme of their number have a somewhat strained relationship with the Solaris, being openly contemptuous for what they see as sucking up to the system.

But, Solaris U is Level Dawn’s greatest ally in their fight against the Corpus from within - an ally they desperately need, given that Corpus propaganda has reached a fever pitch. Even now, the Corpus portray themselves as the true heirs to the Orokin, beset by Sentients, a barely sentient horde of decaying clones, and Tenno “barbarians” on all sides. That if they fell, they would drag the Origin System into a new dark age…. Which is interesting, given that most of those who survived the Orokin era or learned history from outside the Corpus or Grineer perspective consider the current era to be a Dark Age. In addition, they’re touting the current post-Narmer era as the Fifth Great Corpus Expansion. And you wouldn’t want to go against that, would you?

    Artist Notes

First of all: IT’S MY BIRTHDAY, YAY

Secondly: This was a bit less planned than normal.

This was originally just a mismash of the battle pass Prowler SMG, the Lorentz Driver, and kitgun parts. This was always intended to fire lightning, for…. Some reason. I cannot say why. I think I had the Arclite’s guaranteed electric procs in mind along with a provision for what happens if you add punch-through.

Normally I’d have it shoot radiation, but I felt (for some reason) as if I’d already made enough status-focused AoE semiautos, so I made this crit (with decent status. Just in case). Altfire was also an accident, created just in case the players wanted to use it like a normal AoE weapon. Ultimately, it's less important that you damage enemies with explosive ammo

The blue and pink colors are Level Dawn’s signature colors - I wanted something that felt close to Solaris United’s blue and orange, but just different enough.

    Happy Birthday!

Cool looking weapon, I'm assuming due to the fact that the penetrator mode is used for sniping that it has a fast projectile speed for a non-hitscan weapon?
