  1. You're supposed to wield a Katana with two hands.

Or you can have a katana in your main hand and a wakazashi in your off hand. Or a katana in each hand.  Or an O-Katana, or Nodachi.  Or we can just throw realism out the window because this is a crazy space game about space ninjas who break the laws of physics and stuff.

Also DE has shown they don't give a damn about realistic dual wield weapons anyways with their "use crappy dagger thing in main and and proper sword in offhand" foolishness for no reason whatsoever so screw realism and rules.  Give me 2 full size Nikanas.

  2. I don't play League, which is what I'm assuming you're talking about, with "*think Darius ult*". Post a vid or gif to explain yourself.

The rest of what you're saying sounds OP. Instead of massive amounts of damage, I'd like to see at least maybe a knockdown on enemies if you land directly on them. Or perhaps an autofinisher with it's own unique animation per weapon type. Think, Far Cry 3 or Assassin's Creed, with their aerial take downs. Stab the enemy in the chest then get back to running and jumping. Of course, with something like the Galatine or Hate, that'd be a bit weird.

All this post sounds good. I'd love it if my Blind let me do finishers. It'd actually feel right, instead of slicing my tanky enemy's leg while he's rubbing his eyes.

This is what I meant by "Darius Ult"

Basically after you jump, you slam down hard and do TONS OF DAMAGE to the poor sob you hit.  Perhaps make this have it's special finisher with the enemy getting cut vertically in half while nearby enemies are knocked off balance and open to other melee finishers for a few seconds.

  3. TBH I would be fine with a damage nerf in exchange for increased speed.  Right now it's just stupid how slow it is.  When you fight with swords, you don't want to do much spinning as you expose your back and other "blind" parts of your body to counterattack, and in the times when you do spin you gotta be FAST.  It makes no sense to just slowly spin around like a lazy dancer when enemies are all around you trying to kill you.

Also it goes against the name as it was named after the spinning dervishes who are dancers who spin around FAST.  Like really really fast.  Not incredibly slowly while you open yourself to getting stabbed in the back a few dozen times while your back is exposed to the enemy due to your painfully slow spinning.

I don't know why, but in my opinion there is nothing wrong whit the "Hate"

EDIT: This is just my build that I use when I actually play whit the Hate

Saying it's fine because you have an effective build with 4 forma doesn't count.  You can make anything great with 4 forma.  Hell, I could put 4 forma on Lato, Skana, and Mk-1 Braton and kick &#! but that doesn't mean you should do it.

Hate isn't terrible but it was hit pretty hard when charge attacks were removed in melee disappointment 2.0 as it was a charge attack weapon.  It lost a lot of its power and is outperformed by both Reaper Prime and Ether Reaper

  5. A properly built Valkyr can facetank Stalker. Still best shoot him and not melee.

That makes sense as Valkyr is nearly invincible when she activates her crazy b.itch mode, but even Stalker can dispell that still instagib with his Dread, so that still leads to the question, "How does the lifestrike help?"

I've meleed Stalker a few times and that was only because I wasn't his main target when he popped in and was thus more focused on attacking a squad mate so I was able to get up to him and wail away.

  6. Log on, check out all the new stuff.  See that the new frame which I wasn't interested in anyways really only has about 2 cool skills and it's stuck behind 2 or 3 layers of grindwalls, and requires argon and oxium to build.  Since I don't care about this frame anyways it doesn't bother me so I move on.

I check on Sword and Board which I really am looking forward to.  After checking it out, I see that it is clan research and costs more argon and oxium to build.  I then check on the stance and I see that it is another rare stance from some rare enemy.(Maybe an eximus this time) and that it only has one true combo besides the E spam and you can't even do a simple shield bash with it.

After I facepalm at that and mutter my disappointment I check out the ship stuff.  I don't know what to expect as the ships do seem kind of cool but it seems we only get to use a small area of a pretty large ship, so maybe we will get more rooms added later on.  Hopefully there are cool things you can buy with credits as it would be nice to find something besides transmutation to spend my nearly 5mil credits on.

And then I go get the overhyped kubrows which I never really cared much about to begin with.  Train one up to 30, and then go back to using my Carrier while my Kubrow hangs out in the ship so long as he doesn't make any messes.  If he starts making messes then he goes out the airlock.(Not really, I love dogs.)

After that I'll probably be burned out again for a while and go check out League of Legends, only to realize that League is no longer fun due to Rito selling out and caring only about the big time e$ports and parading these high school kids about and going on about how amazing they are just because they're good at a video game, and also the games are no longer fun anymore because everyone and their mom is getting hit by chat restrictions so there is no more friendly banter, trash talk, or joking as the game is now League of Carebears.

After this, I will throw my arms up in derision, snort in disapproval and disappointment, and then go work out or watch The Borgias on Netflix while thinking about how amazing The Witcher 3 is going to be and wondering when the hell GRRM is going to finish Winds of Winter.   After realizing both things aren't until 2015 which is also the most likely year we will get U15 here seeing how each update gets hit with longer and longer delays.  Upon realizing this I'll pour myself a glass of wine, enjoy it, and then check out this thing I hear about every now and then called "outside".

  7. "When the game does come out in the next decade"

I'm sorry but are you saying that warframe will be going on up until 2024?

Of course it will be, but it will be Warframe 2 or 3 and it will be played using the Nervgear.

I'd be one of the first people to play it so long as the Nervgear is thoroughly tested for safety and that it can't do something crazy like say, get hacked so you're stuck in a game until the final boss is defeated and if you die in the game then the nervgear fries your brain and you die in real life.

Gotta make sure safety department does their job on that.

  8. theres a way to force combos without executing them on a keyboard...

a secret ill take to the grave

Wow that was very helpful.  Thank you for letting us know there is a "secret" to help out with the combos and then go on to say you'll never tell anyone.  I'm sure many people on both the internet and in real life ask you for help and advice when they really need it.

You guys have to realize this is melee 2.0 v1 . There'll be more changes to it in the future, so give DE your feedback constructively (like OP did) and I'm sure in the future there'll be another revamp of it!

    Cheers!

The problem is that honestly and brutally speaking, DE "gone and f.ucked it up".  We were promised this awesome system that would make melee powerful, fun, and relevant, vs just shooting everything with our guns, and instead we get these lame "stances" that have to be farmed for and many times they are extremely rare drops from extremely rare enemies and then they may only have one or two combos (I'm looking at you Iron Phoenix and Crimson Dervish, frekking basic sword stances, yet they're rare with only one or two combos and they iron phoenix one is quite boring).  And then when you use them, your stamina gets completely drained because "swinging a weapon around to deal less damage than just shooting everyone makes you tired" and that goes double for the heavy weapons and dual weapons because they drain more stamina.

The combos are a pain to pull off because the method of "pause", "hold", and directional keys such as "down" are downright terrible and clunky.  And once again, by the time you do that fancy combo right, all the bad guys are dead because your team mate just shot them all in the head with his Boltor Prime.

Oh and while you were running up to fight them all with your sword you got in the same area code as a energy eximus and now have a disrupted HUD and no energy because "f.uck you, that's why".

Oh look Stalker, G3, Zanuka,  are dropping in, let's fight them with our fancy combos and see how that goes!   Hahaha, good luck with that buddy.

But hey maybe we can try them on these cool new and reworked bosses, oh wait, we can't do that either because these new bosses all have invincible shields that only drop for a few seconds and then you can only hurt them by shooting a tiny little weak spot that you don't even have a chance of getting close to if you try to use melee.  Yeah I'll stick with my Boltor Prime and use melee as mastery fodder until it can be done right.

The Sword Alone?, it's more like The Sword is Forever Alone,  in the garbage pile because it's useless.

  9. No they dont. Rhino is more Berserker game play then Excal and has Iron Skin. Frost`s Snow Globe would get too strong if his armor went up more and hes not ment to be a front line combatent.

Actually I think that other guy was mistaken as last time I checked Rhino and Frost both have 190 armor, which was the highest until Valkyr came along with her god like lolololol nothing can hurt me 400 armor.

Excal should be more of a bruiser type fighter, he can get in, deal some damage, be able to take a few hits, and then disengage if he has too.

Frost is more of an "area defense" type frame in that if you need to defend a pod or other objective, then he's your guy and he's got the defense to do it.

If you need a tank that can just Leroy Jenkins in with good CC and durability then Rhino should be choice.

However, for better or for worse, Warframe isn't exactly the type of game which has "classes" so especially depending on how you mod, this all goes right out the window.

  10. Why not, instead of the increased health tankiness, modifying his shield recovery rate and downtime?

If his shield downtime and recovery rate are modified, you can use the invincibility period of Slash Dash, and Radial Blind to become more of a close-in-hit-and-run melee fighter. Changing his stamina recovery rate would be preferred over an increased stamina cap, though.

The one major change to Slash Dash - Make it scale off of the combo counter, as well as provide a bleed proc. It used to be one of the best first powers in the game. Not the best of the best but really good. Why? Ignored armor, had a wide slash, and dealt consistent damage.

Radial Blind - Make it combo with super jump via expanded range and ignoring cover (While super jump is active). Make it so that he has a custom energy blade that he pulls out when he casts it, and have it shatter when the cast finishes.

Super jump - Allow super jump to be used while airborne. When wall-running, using super jump should catapult the player further, creating a knockdown effect around him. Super jump should also bolster the jump attack's properties, by expanding its range and knockdown by 100%. It should also reliably trigger heavy impact because of these changes. Power range should affect the knockdown radius.

Radial Javelin - Enable it to ragdoll enemies regardless of their health. Increase its casting speed. Pin them to walls for a set duration. This would make it an effective crowd control.

Those are also good ideas, though I don't think the better shield recovery and downtime is the way to go.  I can see what you're getting at with the plan to make Excalibur a hit and run type fighter but I don't think that should be his style.  He's "The Swordsman" and is supposed to be meant to jump into the fray and not have to rely on "cheap tricks" like blind to be able to win fights in melee.  He should be able to rely on his toughness, strength, and skills which is why I was hoping for some slight buffs to his defenses and stamina.   Really I want him to be able to melee his way through the action.  He should even have a chance meleeing bosses like Stalker, and G3.  Right now the frames I've seen that happen on are Valkyr with lifesteal, crazy b.itch mode, and her insane LOLOLOLOLUCANTHURTME 400 armor, and Loki and Ash with cloak and even that doesn't work against Stalker who can just wave his arms around and cancel out any buff or warframe power.

I can see what you're getting at and I understand the reasoning, but I personally feel that a sneaky, distraction, guerilla style fighting isn't what Excalibur is meant for.

I do like your suggestions for super jump and radial javelin though.

Honestly thought you were gona have a bash that "Excal is boring and needs to be more flashy" like many have before.

but I must say that these little tweaks would definitely improve one of the most "All Rounded" Frames in the game.

    +1

    Thank you for your support.

  11. While I would love to see a more interactive Bladestorm, if you want to use Hysteria, go play a Valkyr instead of Ash.

I don't like to play as females,(nothing personal, just too immersion breaking for me) so I don't play as Valkyr.    And unless you redo the combat to make it more like Ninja Gaiden and the "ultimates" where Ryu runs around super fast killing everything on the screen, then bladestorm will never be "more interactive".

I would be happy if they changed the camera so it would be more zoomed out so you can actually see stuff and not cause all the bugs it does, but still believe that in the long run the best thing would be to replace it, or even better yet add in additional "extra skills" that we can swap in and out with out builds to make more customization and individuality.  IE : Your Ash has the bladestorm, my Ash has the megabuff for the final skill.

  12. *rolls eyes*

    Oh, boy, here we g--

    ...

That's actually pretty good. It's nice to see a suggested change to Super Jump that doesn't screw over the people who use it as it currently is (non-offensive mobility that can't possibly give away your position by stray AoE effects) while opening up even more opportunities with the ability.

I am in full support of this suggestion.

    What I DON'T agree with:

    - Base stat improvements. Excalibur's base stats are nowhere near low; they're perfectly average. Boosting them unnecessarily is just power creep at work.

    - That said, I'd like to see Stamina be improved (especially considering that Excalibur is the poster boy for flawlessly utilizing both guns and melee in combat seamlessly). I mean, come on-- the worst base stamina in the game? Hydroid having nearly double Excalibur's base stamina is not okay for me.

(To clarify: Excal has 80 base stamina; the other frames have 100. Hydroid and Valkyr both have a whopping 150.)

    - Radial Blind opening up finishers. That would completely take away Excal's melee viability (along with that of all his teammates) and nerf the ability into oblivion. The only way I will ever accept this change is if Finishers can be bound to a separate key with the same update.

I'm still mad at DE for what they did to Teleport. No more teleporting across the map and then massacring the whole group in a matter of seconds; now it's teleport across the map -> play a two-second animation that does mediocre damage -> pitifully attempt to chase down the group of enemies that is now completely out of your reach.

With Radial Blind getting finisher prompts, melee play will go from:

Blind -> Kill the whole 10-enemy group in three seconds

    to

Blind -> Kill 1 enemy every three seconds for the entire duration of the damn ability

While it's understandable that Radial Blind could use a light tap of the nerf hammer, removing melee viability is not the way to go.

I'm not calling for insane buffs, just some increase to his defenses so he can actually get in there and melee stuff at high levels.  His defense is just "meh" and he has the lowest stamina in the game which totally goes against him being "The Swordsman" especially with how much stamina is drained when you actually try to use melee vs just shooting everything with Boltor Prime.

I just want him to get some tankiness so he can better survive closer encounters or redo his "passive" from that better chances to get that RNG counter finisher thing to something like, he'll automatically deflect projectiles at him if you're looking at them.  The best example would be in the Jedi Knight and Jedi Academy games where once you leveled your saber defense, you would automatically deflect and block most attacks directed at you, so long as you were facing them.

I meant for the radial blind thing to be a buff so he can actually use his fancy finishers.  Valkyr has a frekkin 400 HP and her Warcry opens up enemies to finishers, why can't Excal even get something in the same League?  With this Finishers would have to be set to a different key, have their damage boosted up(If I impale someone on my sword and they're hanging in the air with my sword completely though them, they should be dead regardless of their level) while at the same time allowing you to just melee spam if that's what you want.

    And then the stamina buffs.

But really what I want for Excalibur is to be able to draw my melee weapon at higher level missions and be able to jump in there knowing I can take some hits, dish it out, and pull off fancy melee attacks like Excalibur was meant to without having to rely on Radial Blind.  Besides to be honest Radial Blind sounds like a cheap trick trickster type move that would fit Loki more than a frame like Excalibur that should engage and fight enemies "more honorably"  But that's just my opinion

  13. Maybe the Tenno Council didn't have enough resources so they grabbed a faceplate off a Grineer and slapped it on there.

(Assuming this is made by them).

Or it was a Frame that became infested and combined with a grineer.

I'm just digging for ideas here.

If  by the Tenno council you mean the one made with feed back from us Founders, then No, we had nothing to do its creation.   Unless the other founders have been having secret meetings with the devs and I just wasn't given the memo.

  14. What a dumb question.

Nuclear Explosions for the win. Even if Tennos are resistent to radiation, no one can survive that 32.000k degrees explosion.

They would just go back to their fancy new liset ships and enjoy popcorn while watching the show.  We only blow ourselves up.

So um yeah, considering the Tenno are specially designed, created, and trained killing machines that went into and came back from hell itself and are equipped with the latest killing technology, and most people can barely run more than 20 meters without passing out we'd be kind of screwed.

Unless we humans have our own crazy plan of sending people into the void and seeing if they can get the crazy powers and technology.  And even that would be a long shot.
