She didn't know what was more surprising, the sudden wail of outrage, or the even moreso iron-grip clasp that Kate now held Lusith in. A brow perked as Lusith blinked twice, trying to think of what to make of the situation.

Stressed Tenno? Understandable. Sudden tight hugging? Not usually something that happens to the Valkyr. One of the closer people to the Valkyr being battered and emotionally unstable? That's... Oddly not new. The hug... What to do about the hug... Humm... Ah! Her arms slowly wrapped tight around Kate, returning the embrace comfortingly as hands held her close.

"Relax. Please, I am here.. It is alright, you are not bothering me, either. Why don't we go to somewhere more private and you can talk to me all you would like to? Would you want that, Kate? I am more than welcome to let you vent your mood to me."

Lusith's voice was quiet and soft, sounding more endearing than its normal tone.

"No." The word came suddenly and without warning, Kate quickly but gently pushing the embrace away. "N-No, I can't. You're... you're a friend, Lus, shouldn't vent things out on you. This is just... an overreaction, see? Nothin' to be worried about."

Her mouth widened into a large, fake grin. Her voice cracked as she repeated. "Nothin' to be worried about."

Maina was willing to accept Abra's advice to not seek out the medical wing right now with a small nod. Then she moved her hands away from her mouth, one lowering, the other stroking her hair, like an habitual gesture. Although she wanted to speak, finding words for what sprang up inside her heart was not that easy. When Abra looked back to her, she still had not uttered a single word.

When he approached her in his most caring manner, the little Banshee did not hesitate to take up what she interpreted as a wordless offer: She softly leaned against him, her hands resting on his chest, not really hugging him, but close to him nevertheless, resting her cheek against his warframe.

"I know... I know I didn't. Mother aids my every step, and I trust her to not mislead me. It's just... it will take so long for her to come to terms with this. And she will be so weak in the meantime... vulnerable. I fear what she might face in the crew that once fought aside her..." Maina looked up to Abra from below, her eyes still glistening, but also very direct.
"You won't abandon her, will you? I won't forgive anyone who does."
Although not threatening, by Maina's standards these words were suprisingly clear, like a promise, or an oath. Something that she not only believed in - that was true for almost everything she said or did - but she actually intended to see through to the end. A personal purpose, instead of spontaneously following her supposedly-divine inspirations. Something this Tenno might risk a lot for.

She was surprisingly small, just like Her. Even in this not-quite-hug, his larger form protectively covered Maina, who just barely reached his chest in height.

Stop. Thinking like that is a disservice to Her... to Sophia.

The Banshee talked more, and he couldn't help but admire that spirit. This was a kind soul, not meant for war. Perhaps Trinity would have been a better fit.

"That is a noble thought, Maina." To place the focus on others, not oneself, was a difficult milestone for many. Abra was not proud enough to claim he was past it -his thoughts could still be selfish, even if his actions were rarely so. The danger in selflessness, however, was to forget one's own value and sacrifice oneself for any cause...

That dutiful feeling, one that could only be described as "I must protect", passed down through all who wore Oberon, the fearsome Paladin and kindhearted Druid. He would protect Maina from the horrors they would certainly see on their journey, and ensure her kindness survived.

"You won't abandon her, will you?"

He embraced her properly, more like a father than a lover. His right hand rested on the space between her shoulderblades, while his left prosthetic cradled her head. "Never. How could I, Maina?"

jokes asede, this one is pretty well done!

    I say crier?

Which HS track would fit Warframe though? I'd say aLIEz, but only because it's the most recent one I heard.

I see you actually credited me....nice? I thought about writing up a post about this myself when I first came up with it. But then I just started seeing the holes in it and...yeah lost interest.

    Heretic.

The holes aren't so terribly bad. Justifies more things than it puts into question.

  4. Spoilers for Natah/Second Dream quests

I know what you may be thinking: "Achaix, you silly goose. Warframes are suits that regulate and focus the raw power of Tenno!"

That's not what what I'm saying, but now you may think: "Achaix, you dumb goat. Warframe are constructs built at least partially with Technocyte and a mandatory Orokin cell/Argon crystal, but other than that they're just objects!"

And that is closer to what I propose, although I definitely object to the "just objects" part. @Lady_Viper actually suggested this to me a while back, I'm just posting it here.

Let's review what we know of the Tenno. The Zariman 10-0 was an Orokin ship, loaded up with supplies and families, supposed to be the first to colonize the Tau system because Origin was seriously screwed and the old Empire was slowly starting to crumble even then. Something went wrong with their Void tech, and the ship was seemingly lost forever to the Void. Fastforward a few [unspecified unit of time], the ship is found, and only the children seem to have survived.

This seemed rather iffy to me. Was the Void feeling sympathetic towards the rebellious kids and decided to destroy their parents while giving them hax powers? Unlikely. So what's the deal?

In the Second Dream's final section, the Stalker invades the Tenno's Orbiter and almost gets to kill the Operator. As he chokes the life out of the child, their Warframe, impaled by War, seems to wake up by itself, despite the Operator also being conscious (previously in the quest, we could see that as soon as the child awoke, the Warframe shut down immediately and could only be reactivated by direct contact). The Warframe then reaches for the sword's crossguard and, after a brief struggle and some really sweet background music, War is broken. Note that before this, the Warframe seemed like a limp doll but, once the Operator was in real physical danger, sprang into action and turned the tables on Hunhow.

What I suggest is that Warframes are the parents of the Operators.

It finally answers the mystery of what the Lotus was really talking about when she mentions Mirage smiling, or Limbo's exploits, or Inaros' vigilanteism. It makes the dialogue of Operators more meaningful - they're not just talking to themselves, they're trying to talk to their mother or father again. The breaking of War is not just defiance, it is a parent's desperate attempt to save their child. Warframe (the game) is pretty big on Family as a theme: Hunhow feels that his daughter has abandoned him. Natah sees the Operators as her children, just as Margulis did. Captain Vor sees his troops as his sons. Hell, Darvo's relationship with daddy Frohd Bek.

Granted, there is plenty to criticize about this theory - how come they can be built so easily, for example. And I admit that's a valid criticism, though we do have to keep in mind that there's a difference between game mechanics and lore.

To finish this post, I'd like to quote the Grineer Lancer Synthesis Imprint:

    Quote

    "MERELY FRAMED"

The rock shakes like never before. Gravel rains in the darkness. I choke on the dust and struggle to find my balance on the shifting ground. The voice booms again. It is in the air. It is in the rock. It is in my head.

    "MERELY SHAPED THEY ARE CALLED"

My ears ring like sirens. Then I hear new smashing, it is coming from down the tunnel. Not rhythmic smashing, not the music, something else and I do not like it. There are other voices too, screaming voices. They make me think of the way we scream when there is an accident, when one of us gets caught in a sorter. There is much screaming. The voice grows louder.

    "THERE WAS NO THEIR MOTHER"

Out of the darkness a new light rounds the distant corner and shines down the tunnel. Our lights do not look like this. It is apart of something big and it moves wildly. Running? Yes, running through our line. Our machines fly up and then slam back down. Miners are smashed and crushed into tiny pieces. I am scared.

I am angry. Why is this happening? Is that an Orokin? No, we serve the Orokin. The Orokin are golden. This is something else. I pick up my shovel.

    "THERE WAS NO THEIR FATHER"

    Ominous. What if...

    Quote

    "MERELY A FRAME"

"MERELY A SHAPE THEY ARE CALLED"

    "THEY ARE NOT THEIR MOTHERS"

    "THEY ARE NOT THEIR FATHERS"

Not their mothers, not their fathers. Not anymore?

    Maina:

There was a visible weight taken off the green Tenno's chest when Abra revealed to her that there had been no losses during combat. She had clenched her hands in front of her body anxiously, and lowered them a little in relief when there was a positive answer from the Oberon. Noone died, and apparently no persons were still in danger of dieing belatedly. For now.

The remarks about the strange and improvised tactics employed in the field left Maina unscathed. To little suprise, this girl was not much of tactician or analytical mind.

"The verse's melody is a mystery to mortals. We might not recognize it, but if we listen to what it tells us, I am sure things will turn out alright in the end, like they were meant to be!" That's all she had to say, nothing really useful when it comes to combat strategy.

About the ones who went in on their own, Maina of course was not one to see them as part of a military formation, but instead tried to defend their individuality:

"They only did what they had to do. Everyone is born for a reason, and maybe their reason was to valiantly brandish their hearts today, in this battle, against a mighty foe. Us seeing no logic in it means nothing, for the future is only to be known by the eternal ones." She claims this to be true with a pure benevolence and wholehearted belief in a truth that offers her the strength to accept what she can not understand, and bear the sight of those she could not help, like Dal.

When Abra disclosed to her Sah'jey's fate, Maina covered her mouth with her hands and still an audible gasp of shock escaped. Her eyes are filled with horror, sympathy, then tears.

"Oh, mother forbid!... The poor girl." In her head, thoughts were racing: Of how that must have hurt, how hard it must be to be in the medbay for so long, with everyone else already running around, and what a cruel mistress a Tenno's pride can be - both Sah'jey's own, and that of those around her, whom she could no longer properly assist in combat. And how much that must hurt her soul in turn even more. That is what brought most tears to her eyes.

From behind her hands, which she still didn't lower, Maina answered breathlessly: "Of course, Abra, of course! I thought of applying to the medical wing from the start, but I don't know as much about medicine as others. But now, I will visit her whenever I can! Is she asleep now, or can I go right to her?!" Her eagerness was not faked, and even more, it was not by any means meant to escape the talk with Abra. But to Maina, there was one thing that mattered above all: Someone needed her help. Help which only she could give, maybe her sole reason for being on board. Never had she had any doubt that this moment would come, and right there, she felt a tingling ripple throughout her heart and every limb that she could only attribute to a supernatural relevation. It compelled her to act.

He wouldn't dream of saying it out loud, but Maina's reaction made his heart melt a little. People such as this were too rare and far in between, too naïve and incredible to last, he thought as he turned to adjust water levels, in response to complaning machinery. However...

"She needs some time alone, to rest and accept what happened." Finished with the adjustment, he turned back. "I think it would be better to wait a whi-"

Finally noticing the Banshee's tears, Abra quickly stepped closer and gently took her by the shoulders, the difference in height giving him an almost paternal aspect. "Maina? Are you alright? If it is about Sah'jey, please, it was not your fault."

"You did not do anything wrong, Maina."

In response, only sobs had been given in reply to the Valkyr's prodding. Lusith had raised her hand to place it on Kate's shoulder...

... But in all honesty given her emotional state it probably wasn't a good idea, so she had pulled her hand back in and rubbed the back of it with her other. Rather, Lusith would try to call out to Kate again in a softer voice, trying to be reassuring in a hope to pull her attention.

"Kate... I'm here for you if you need me.. There is no reason for you to be upset all on your own.." Her voice was endearing and soft.

If anything, Lusith was braced more for emotional, possibly even physical outlash if she does anything to rattle the Mirage in front of her.

"... There's plenty of reason..." Kate growled in return, angry tears clouding her optics. "When everything I touch... gets F*CKED UP!"

She struck the floor with a tightly clenched fist. "Nothing I do would please them, would it? Try to kill a f*cking child of Lephantis? Get hit in the face because their sister was being f*cking stupid! Try to get a comatose short piece of sh!t Nova to do anything at all while her own people die? Get choked for 'challenging her authority' and lose your job! F*CKING MORONS!"

"Why the hell did I even come here? I could be in Origin, doing some actual good rather than this bullsh!t! I didn't sign up for any of this idiotic f*ckery!"

She let loose another furious yell, fed by built-up resentment, then was quiet. Too quiet, glassy eyes reflecting nothing underneath her helmet. After a short while, her hands reached up and slowly embraced Lusith. Though the Mirage still trembled, distraught, she wasn't even close to harming one of the few people who had shown her some kindness in this voyage.

"I'm... I'm sorry, Lus, you shouldn't have had to hear any of that sh¡t. It's just..."

  6. This is what fake prank videos create. A legion of fools who think they'll be cool kids by being downright annoying and believe they shouldn't be punished because "it's just a prank bro".

Argon Scope is a highly valued mod that many use and is very popular. When you type "wts argon scope", people message you and go to a Dojo with the hopes of actually getting the mod. Do you expect anyone to say "lmao yur so funny" when you put an Ammo Drum on the table?

You definitely deserve being in ignore lists. Banning is a big deal, maybe after 5+ people report you.

Please stop encouraging this downright idiotic behaviour.

  7. You're carrying five kinds of mattresses and hair products. I will concede that shampoo and conditioner are vital for survival, but that straightener is not. You need electricity for that, and it's not like the unknown has electric outlets at strategic locations.

  8. Whenever I'm with pugs and Simaris tells me to go derezz some Lancer, I always type "Please don't kill the Synth". If nobody answers, I rush to scan it before they come across it. If only a few answer, I relax a bit and go after the Synth as an afterthought.

But if people say "k" and, as you're extracting, target the Synth specifically with their powers/weapons (there's nobody else in the room and they're meleeing like they're facing a boss), I am definitely going to get angry. If they say "opps sory" after that, I drag the mission out and seriously consider letting them die when they go down.

Sure, it's not the greatest worry, but it's very frustrating to be "k"d - people answering so you shut up and then go and ravish the Synth. Thankfully, most squads have decent people in them and we help each other out at capturing the Synth.

I would like to know who made the rules for Draco?  I have gone into Draco with Max level weapons and a Rank 0 frame.  I rarely go down because my weapons are pretty OP.  If I do go down and no one wants to pick me up that's OK with me. When I do go into Draco with a Rank 0 frame I do leave twice the first round so I can put a mod or two on the frame. After that I continue to Draco to finish ranking up.  The funny thing is.... when I go to Draco to finish ranking I have to revive those that have a Maxed Frame.  I see no rules or regulations here for Draco.  If I see a Rank 0 frame going down I have the courtesy to help if I can. Using comment sense would be nice but hey that's just the way it is.... Like I said I see no rules or regulations for Draco.

Using "comment sense", you may see that I never said there were any rules. My suggestion is exactly that, a suggestion. I'd appreciate it if you didn't put words into my mouth.

If you don't need to get revived, great! But if you go with a level 0 frame without mods, stay still in one place and don't do anything remotely useful, don't expect me to revive you more than twice.

  10. I literally saw a level 0 Oberon there the other day. He went down more often than a worker in a questionable establishment. I was running Obie myself, and the discovery made me a bit sad because it was clear that this guy thought Oberon was mastery fodder.

I mean, I guess it's okay to bring a level 0 weapon if you're in a hurry, but a frame? The thing that keeps you alive, level 0? At least go to Apollodorus first, get it to level 10, and then Draco.
