  1. For those saying support the devs: The point about actually wanting to vs being forced (Forced isn't the right word; coerced or herded would fit better) and the fact they ask for egregious prices. $10 for a weapon that I'll have mastered in less than 3 days? 20 bucks for a Warframe that will probably be mothballed in the same 3 days as I move on to a new/better warframe? That's insane and it IS NOT a micro transaction or reasonable.

  2. The forums usually aren't too bad, but the recent patch saw some changes that infuriated players across the board, so it's become a pool of festering. On Monday, DE will (hopefully) address the situation.

Personally, I think this is the start of the Beta process that I've been seeing in other games.

At some point, in beta, games that need to make extra cash will do stuff that essentially sheds off part of the player base until a point where they don't need to do it anymore. *Disclaimer: I'm yet to see any beta games make it to said point yet*

  3. Saying that Rhino is replaced by Vauban just doesn't stand up...Vauban is the squishiest warframe in the game and he has a feeble shield cap. Vauban does have a higher power supply to cover this deficit and that is the only way he is arguably better, but as a tank, he isn't...but he is close. The problem is that Rhino's armor is virtually useless since everyone relies on shields because they regenerate.

The above brings up the issue of Armor not effect shields (Which it should so that armor isn't only useful for saving your life...it should be useful through the whole process) Possibly, the new mod Diamond Skin fixes this, but that remains to be seen and armor shouldn't need a mod to be useful.

However, saying that Rhino's abilities do need a rework is totally true. His 3 and 4 were pretty much the same thing. His 1 is a gimped excalibur's 1 and his 2 was the only redeeming quality. Nerfing his second ability would've been fine if not for his pathetic other abilities.

  4. The problem with Rhino is made evident from the nerf and release of Vauban: his powers suck. His 3rd and 4th abilities are essentially the same thing and now that his most useful ability is nerfed and his 3rd and 4th abilities get a copy cat (Vauban), Rhino can seem a bit weaker. Rhino needs, at the very least, for one of his 3rd or 4th abilities to be changed to something more useful.

An idea: Rhino charge state for X amount of seconds (Say 10). Faster speed, stronger melee, health regenerates at the end of the ten seconds.

  5. Can't really understand how 80% is not more than enough to tank well... Rhino has a huge pool of shields, vit & high armor. It was god-mode before, and it still is as strong. A 10 A.R. like Ember isn't much of comparison to Rhino...

I do agree on one thing, Vauban's ability makes Rhino's ultimate quite less useful.

Either way, thank you for so many fixes & updates!

The bigger slap in the face is not making Trinity not* invincible with it.

  6. Uhhh

Steam and Raptr both have usage statistics and both of them are reflecting rampant growth; DE has commented they are consistently seeing new peak users during prime times... We most certianly do have hard numbers to go on not just conjecture... the ones making conjecture are the ones suggesting this game is dying; because all you have to do is look at the various overlay stats (steam / raptr / xfire etc) and you can see the use rates growing.

actually, xfire is the only place I am seeing a down-trend in use; but it doesn't even have 1/10th of the amount of users playing than Steam does.

I didn't know this; thanks for informing me.

  7. Poorest way to who exactly?

I betcha a bunch of folks are going to be super eager this weekend waiting for alerts and the ones that want it ASAP are going to get it with plat.

The only people really complaining are the people that wanted NAOH and dont want to wait for it.

Most people I see complaining look at Vauban as a small part of a larger issue (or several larger issues, rather).

I do, however, see lots of people who respond to the complaint threads and write them off as impatient and entitled. Doing this does not help anyone and ignores large issues that will become fatal if they are ignored.

  8. I love how people keep pretending the game isn't undergoing explosive growth...

We have no idea the rate of growth of the game. We can speculate, but the closest we have to hard numbers is the number of people who tune in to the live stream and I would not rely on them for displaying growth.

We don't know how much the game costs, how much they are making, how much more they need.

We don't know if they actually are in dire need of money or just want more money for progress either and not knowing this is a major factor in the frustration we see in the forums.

  9. I regret buying their founder's package if only I knew they'd go heavy down this crappy alert RNG cheap and lazy item distribution method.

Playerbase drop reasons : 1. no endgame, 2. alert system

It was a good ride...for the first month I was here....

No reason to crucify them yet. It remains to be seen how they will react to the forum frustration or how they plan to respond to Vauban after U8 comes.

  10. Damn, how much our whole society, regardless of where you are from, feels entitled and is dissapointed or even angry when instant gratification can't be met.

Patience and forbearance are qualities that seem to be lacking with at least a part of the gaming community.

Feeling you have worked toward something and finally getting what you want are, well, quite beatiful emotions to be honest. Try it out, and even if it might take time: patience. The moment you'll get it will be all the sweeter.

You are not working towards getting the Vaudun if you get it by alerts; you are on at the right time. THat is all, you have accomplished nothing. I felt accomplished when I got my Frost from Hek (Think it was him anyway) after killing him the times it required. I spent hours doing that. I do not have to spend hours getting Vaudun; I just have to be on for about 20 minutes (The maximum time to run through a level with my Ash) at any given point every day of the week.

I am not being entitled, I'm saying that this removes the enjoyment of acquisition from the game the same as buying it with platinum does.

    "Waaaaah! Alert rewards suck!"

"Bah! What are DE doing!?!? New Frame is an Alert Reward!?!?"

    Imagine this from DE's perspective.

First of all, I have not seen any posts that sound remotely like that. Your word choice is an attempt to degrade the calmly written summation of fears of the players who spoke them. As I said before, I am not angry, I'm worried.

Second of all, from DE's perspective: they are frustrated because they want to develop a great game, but can't generate the add revenue they need to do it and when they try to increase their sales, the community gets furious at them for doing it.

Their are two options at this point: find new ways to generate revenue or continue to push away supporters who don't like these kind of tactics in hope that the ones who don't mind and continue to play will be enough in the long run to support the game until, if they don't get addicted to the money like a lot of developers, they can support the game based on having a large enough player base. The ladder is obviously what they are doing, but this is what pretty much every F2P game is doing and the problem with it is the callous way that it sheds off players for sake of the end-result. It may be the only way, but I am yet to see any F2P developers actually try anything else.

  11.

People tend to forget that this is Open Beta.

They're just experimenting at this point. Banshee was an experiment to add Blueprints into Defence, Spy, Raid and Rescue missions. It was on the Rare loot pool, and after enough feedback, it was brought down to Uncommon. Now its not that hard to get Banshee parts as it used to.

Now Mr. Vauban here will be added into Alerts, into the uncommon pool with certain BPs and Artifacts.

    Give them a shot, will you? If it doesn't work out, they'll fix it. Heck;

GIVE THEM A CHANCE. They've yet to fail us, unlike Red5 with goddamn Firefall. Even Rebecca's gonna try to see how it feels to get it from an F2P Player's perspective over the weekend at her own time

"If it doesn't work out, they'll fix it." ? So the Glaive and Banshee are working perfectly?

And if they are going to keep it ? Alert only, at the very least they could atleast lower the prices to a reasonable level. 10 bucks for a Warframe? That is how much the Psycho is in Borderlands 2 and I'd probably get more enjoyment using some of his psychotic (tee hee) attacks over the course of 30 or so hours I'd play him. Vaudan would have to be pretty damn amazing to be worth ten bucks for something I will master in probably 10 hours and more htan likely shelf because it wont stand up to other warframes in the current semi-end game (Defense missions)

    Edit

And I know they need support and all of that, but doing stuff like this is disheartening. I'm not raging or anything (Even though their are some people I want to punch through the internet), but if this is the most effective way they can make money, I'd rather go play another game.

I hear developers always talk about how they need money and that is how they justify doing things that anger the community, but I never see developers trying different things like lowering prices a bit to increase sales or adding incentives to paying like cosmetics. Currently, a camo is 5 bucks. This seems kind of high for a cosmetic item, but whatever. Or a monthly subscription option for those who want to support the game that would make hte content available. Their are loads of options that aren't as infuriating as making stuff paid access only (or essentially close to it)

  12. Sorry, sorry, I could have worded that better.  However, if they make it a drop from Defense missions, that's no better than what they do with Banshee parts, which people also complained about.  I don't think that there's any one way to please everyone in this game.

I got Banshee from defense missions. Systems, Chasis, and Helm from 2 Wave 5 defense missions to be exact, but thati s beside the point. If I had to play to something like wave 50 for Helm and Chasis then wave 75 for systems, something that would take hours to do. (Wasn't it like 4 hours or more for the Wave 80?), that would seem like a very fair alternative for those willing to grind and those willing to pay for it.

  13. I don't really see what the issue here.  There's honestly no other way for this to work unless they add another boss, and they're not working on that just yet.  So, logically, Alerts and Plat are the only means of obtaining this BP.

Not a whole lot of point whinging about it at the moment.

They could make it a (Realtively) common drop rate from high level defense missions.

As for not whining about it, this is the only time we will get to "whine" about it; the longer something is in a game the harder it is to get rid of or change. What good do you think "whining" about the alert system and repulsive marketing tactics like this will be when the game launches?

  14.

Vauban's naughty bits shouldn't actually be all that hard to get through alerts. Two of his parts SHOULD be roughly on par with Artifacts as far as rarity. The last roughly on par with a skin.

Lol, I like how you are just copy and pasting this now.

Notlol, you didn't read the post (Or atleast you didn't actually respond to it). It isn't about Vauban; it is about the road they are taking Warframe . down. This is now the third unique item that can only be obtained for ten bucks (Half the cost of Torchlight 2) or a completely random system that will probably allow you to get access to it in a few weeks.

  15. Another unique warframe that is pay2play or alert only? The community got so worked up about the Glaive, and then DE does it again. I really like DE and think they've done a great job, but making unique items like this essentially pay2play (I saw essentially because if it is completely random and I can't work towards it, then it might as well be pay2play). Every item like this makes me, and plenty of others, less willing to pay for the game. DE_Steve has even said (If I'm not mistaken) that the reason items are so expensive in the market is because buying them deteriorates from the game experience, but when the only option is to buy it or stay online at all hours of the day hoping that the three separate components all come up while we are online to build the frame, what are we suppose to do?

What's worse, as I right this, I feel it is all for not since the need for this thread itself proves DE isn't listening, or rather, they are listening, and choosing to ignore the player base on a crucial issue.

I've read in a few places that they haven't added the new frames because they don't want to introduce a new system, but two planets currently don't have bosses at all, so that isn't a valid argument until they actually would need to add systems to get the BPs.
