  1. Will their be any incentives to resetting? Also, will we be able to keep our rank when we reset?

A case for why we should be able to keep our rank: Ranking up is a very long and tedious process that has no advantage past Rank 4. Allowing players to keep this Rank would encourage some (myself included) to partake in the reset since it would save a lot of time and make our Beta experience worth while with a lasting effect.

Would this be a nice bonus for the reset?

  3. My PC is up to par for the post processing (FX 4100), so I believe the lag I have is a result of the packet loss I've seen mentioned by DE. (Checked my internet via Speedtest - 3 down, .3 up)

How do I apply the packet fix?

Since the packet fix is disabling security, will that be putting my PC in any sort of danger?

Thanks in advance for your help!

  4. I like all of these ideas.

Personally I would like to see each weapon or weapon class have a specific power mod that lets you spend energy to do something more effectively with that weapon. Such as increase accuracy, reduce recoil, increased rate of fire, fast magazine swap, an auto critical shot, etcetera.

Having the player able to swap out ammunition types would be neat as well, rather than stacking elemental effects onto their gun.

Being in Open Beta, the polish factor will take a little time. Like with the mod sorting update, I think it's moving nicely in that direction.

Great game so far, I'm excited to see where it goes.

That was an idea I forgot to mention.

Why not put them all in one thread, like as a second post, instead of Part 1 and part 2?

Anyways, I support all of this!

I wrote it over the course of two days.

  5. This thread is about small-scale (and some large-scale content) for Warframe.

    The Stalker

The stalker should have some sort of reward for killing him. As it stands, he is only in the game to **** with new players trying to get their first Warframe. With the loss of reward on mission failure, the Stalker can really ruin a game and make the bad memory stand out more because the player didn't lose because of anything he did, but because of some arbitrary random event.

    Infested Maps

They really need some. Currently, they don't feel like much of a faction because they lack any of their own domains. The Corpus have their colony and the Grineer have their mining rock, but the Infested are lacking any sort of home for their own. They've been around long enough to have their own organic space ships or at the very least a surface area full of infested buildings or tunnels.

In-Game Dropped Items, Animations, and Waypoints

The game needs more way points instead of just "Module" and "Waypoint." A "Resource" waypoint is needed, while a waypoint for health and energy would be nice, but aren't as essential as a resource waypoint.

The orange pulses that come from a player after being picked up should be changed to a different color. This is to prevent confusion with a player picking up a mod or leveling up a warframe. This change would not be necessary if fellow player's level ups weren't shown.

The model the game uses for dropped blue prints also needs to be changed so it isn't confused with Affinity. Something like a scroll or just a cube would work fine. A cube also wouldn't require a lot of extra work to the in-game model to fix. Also, making it slightly larger than other droppables (2x or so) so that it isn't over looked would be a helpful advantage.

Game Mode Polish / Alert System

With Endless Defense, when everyone clicks on either "End or Battle On," the game should end or continue there instead of waiting for the timer to run down. It isn't that big of an issue, but it would be something that would make the game seem a bit more polished.

Their are currently a lot of complaints against the current Alert system rightly so, but, having no way of knowing when the new system is going to be added (Rumors, on my part, but I certainly hope they are so), a fix is needed in the mean time for A) Auto-disconnects when trying to join alerts (I know it can happen on any mission, but it is most prevalent during Alerts) and B) Alerts being miss-named at the launch screen (For example, launching an Exterminate Mission and having to do a Capture Mission)

    Sound Files

Certain sound files don't make a lot of since in the game.

    - "The assassination target is here" ... Blasted Mining machines!

    - "We've got trouble; the assassination target is here" is not trouble; it is the objective.

    - "He wont be bothering us anymore" is said when you kill the female boss on Sedna.

    - In general, most talk regarding the player is geared as if their was one person, but this should be changed to fit third person since this is advertised as a co-op game.

    - Actual voice acting for the boss would be nice, even if it is a cold digitally-made sound... now it is just kind of funny to hear

    Mod Ideas

Currently, most of the mods are bland and end in straight damage buffs. For the mod system to stay interesting, more random elements need to atleast be added as an option. The following are a list of ideas in no particular order ranging from stat buffs to unique bonuses.

    -Poison rounds

    -Shield Ignore

    -Mods with negative effects

    -Melee reach mods

    -Shotgun fall off range buffs

    -Rifle accuracy

    -Combo-allowing mods

    -Enemy gun jamming mods

    -Water mods

    -Gun specific mods

    -Reduced ammo cost mods

-"Weakness" mods that increase damage done temporarily.

This concludes Part 2 of Steemship's Idea Compilation thread. Many more will be following with ideas that didn't make it in to the Compilation. A link to Part 1: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/37402-steemships-idea-compilation-part-1/#entry350394

  6. on the passive bonuses, lots of these seem pretty nice, but the Banshee one seems like it was just thrown on, not to mention that its just a much weaker version of her current silence, and has no use once enemies are alerted.

My suggestion would be to give HER the passive enemy radar (take it off of her Sonar or have using sonar boost the range for its duration) or maybe some form of  enemy pinpointing (like how you can see allies through walls but applied to enemies).

Edited to include this for Banshee and change Nyx.

I like these ideas, especially passive bonuses, which seem to be a popular topic. Also, could you expand a bit on the "complex gun mechanics?"

The Complex gun mechanics I was thinking of kind of encroached on the mod system when I was thinking of them at the time and it would be customizeable gun barrels and stuff akin to Blacklight. Now that I think about it, it would really be a bad fit for Warframe.

  7. I had a nice long post compiling the ideas I've had about Warframe in the 140 hours I've played on it so far, but my PC shut down (Forced windows update) and I lost it all. The main thing that will be lost is the explanation that came before the ideas. A lot of the explanation was rather self explantory put in to be thorough. I will be following this post and will answer any questions that are asked regarding why some of the ideas are necessary or I had them.

*The phrase "making the game better" in this post is in regard to things that make the game more polished and unique.*

    Warframe

The game is great, but it is still lacking; it needs something unique and complex that makes it better than other games.

    - A more complex melee system. This could include direction of attacks or different types of attacks such as slash, thurst, and bash. This would face issues implementation and balancing effectiveness as well as changing the whole gameplay mechanic.

    - An expanded gun system featuring complex gun mechanics. This would probably be the weakest option that would require a lot of work to create the specifics. Edit: Instead of guns, make it an editing system for the Warframes themselves. This would include things like different gauntlets, shoes, etc. Still a weak option, but the gun mechanic system, while nice, didn't add a whole lot and it encroached on the mod system. A lot of other games including Blacklight Retribution had already done it.

    - The direction the game is currently heading in and probably one of the better ones is expanded content. The key here is that the content has to be unique; new enemies need to come out and new types of guns need to come out. This can be a very tricky issue, so giving consideration to other easier ways of making the game unique might be good in the mean time if it doesn't detract from content.

    Mod UI

The most recent improvement of the Mod UI was great, but it is lacking a few things. Three things, to be precise.

-Card stacking is something that would make the game feel more polished and less clustered. This feature is pretty essential to the Mod Equipping Screen. Taking it one step further would be going to the Mod Inventory Screen. The duplicate mods and fusion cards would be unstacked during fusion or a Ctrl+Click could unstack the cards.

    - Weapon/Warframe Loadouts. Another asset for a polished game, this would make transitioning between Warframes and weapons a lot smoother of a process. Given how this would have more effect on higher level players, it probably isn't that high of a priority though if one at all.

    - If Weapon Loadouts isn't an option (And even if it is really), the blank slots that mods have to be dropped in to be unequipped should be moved to the front of the cards to make modding a smoother process.

    Gameplay - Cooperative Play

The game is advertised as a cooperative game, but currently, other players aren't necessary except for opening doors and much higher level missions.

    - Combo power attacks (Mag's bullet attraction + Rhino's invincibility, etc) could be rewarded with bonus damage or an extra XP award. The XP reward would be better for teaching newer players trying to level how to play cooperatively.

    - More puzzle platforming. This probably isn't that viable of an option for the direction DE has said they want the game to go in, but it could be an option to consider.

    Gameplay - Replayability

Somehow, I've managed to sync 140 hours in to Warframe, but I'm pretty sure that that time is coming to an end as I've almost got all of the Warframes and interesting weapons. I'm not abandoning the game by any stretch, but I'll probably just monitor the development a bit more.

    - Another system to explore unlocked at higher levels. Kind of like a New Game+, it could be so hard that it requires team mates to play.

    - Better boss fights. I know this is something DE is working on and it is by its very nature hard to do (I have no clue where to start honestly), but it would help with replay-ability if we didn't have to grind such basic bosses.

***One idea for this would be to allow enemy spawns during boss fights so their is more to focus on.

    - A further emphasis on exploration. The game currently advertises as rewards exploration, but currently, deviating from the main direct route offers little reward outsdie of a few containers which may or may not give anything useful. Off-the map hidden areas that randomly generate on maps could help with this. These off the route maps could have a slightly higher chance of dropping rewards and come with tougher enemy spawns while in these off-the-map areas.

    - Another idea I've heard is cosmetic items that display time and experience. THis could be rank unlocks past 4 or cosmetic items.

    Gameplay - Warframe Idiosyncratic

This section is about little quirks that make Warframes more unique than a simple chassis for powers. These could be passive stat buffs or cosmetic appearences like Ash's smoke that could relate to the Warframe's "preference"

Frost : Reduced/No Shield penalty on ice maps. Reduce heavy Weapon penalties. Extra frost damage to enemies.

Ash : I have no ideas for Ash. Extra damage when cloaked (Above the 50% and 100% buffs of Loki)

Loki : Harder to detect visually.

Ember: Reduced/No fire penalty on exploding ships. Extra fire damageto enemies. Cos - Fire aura

Volt : Extra electric damage. Light aura (Not obnoxiously bright, but enough to see around by on Infested maps)

Rhino : Extra armor. Reduced heavy weapon penalty.

Saryn : Reduced posion damage to health. Extra posion damage to enemies.

Trinity : Pick up downed enemies faster. Constant health regeneration.  Health regenerating aura.

Banshee : Reduced sound radius for detection. Reduced weapon sound. Pumpkin Appearifier: Innate enemy radar.

    Excalibur : Extra melee damage.

Nyx : Innate enemy radar to a limited extent. Aware of the way enemies will move? It would be hard to program, however.

Mag : Magnetism type thing for dropped items. Repelling dead bodies away from her.

One more Warframe idea: A weapon bonus based on the weapon in the Warframe's picture.

    Gameplay - Stealth

With the addition of certain Warframes, the devs have shown an interest in stealth game play. This would be a great aspect that would extend the replay-ability as well.

    - Energy reward for stealth kills. Currently, steath killing can only easily be done by cloaking, running and stealth killing. Then the player is out of energy and must begin running and gunning. This issue could be solved if some amount of energy was rewarded for a stealth kill.

    - Reduced enemies when they aren't aware of your presence, so it is a bit more practical. The number of enemies could scale with level for more of a challenge.

Additionally, stealth needs a greater reward to address the greater difficulty of doing it. Possibly, an exponential or linear XP growth based on the number of stealth kills. (1 stealth kill = normal XP, 2 stealth kills = 1.5x XP, and so on)

The Crowning Idea - Community Maps

This would create a more dedicated community and gain further support and bring DE closer to the community as well.

This would also allow for the easy production of maps for Warframe. Maps would, of course, be inspected before being added and players could be rewarded for their time with in-game rewards.  I'm not sure, however, if this is feasible with Warframe's map development process.

This concludes Part 1 of my idea compilation thread. Part 2 will come tomorrow and will feature more nittpicky things and small ideas generally regarding possible game content. I will be expanding on this and Part 2 as ideas and issues arise and including user idea posts that I like. :p A link to Part 2: https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/37666-steemships-idea-compilation-part-2/

  8. Yes. That is all.

Although (teehee), I have to disagree with some of the ideas regarding the Hek and modding. I can agree with the limited magazine size because the gun only has four bloody barrels (It'd be like having 2 arrows loaded in to the Paris at once...no Legoless action here), but the gun needs modding to not be out classed by other weapons.

As it currently stands, my hek just got done building when the patch launched. And I simply can not use it now; it's more effective to use my sword.

  9. I stated before: they need time to respond. They're a company, and that means that FIRST they need to get everyone on the same page, NEXT they need to get all of their own, internal views on how to handle it, AFTER THAT they need to decide on the best course of action out of all of those ideas, and FINALLY they can implement a direct response to the problem.

This is absolutely a bland boiler plate response. And that's because... well, most likely? Some of them haven't even been informed something's wrong.

Then it would make since to include a "Further response coming soon" addition to the post so people like myself wouldn't get angry at a PR response. As for your first part, I hadn't considered how long it would take them to response and I do apologize for that.

  10. How do you KNOW FOR A FACT that's why they made the decision? You don't, because you absolutely cannot. To say otherwise is being unreasonable.

This is the very first time the community has reacted like this about a patch. So that is outright false.

You're right, I can't know for certain why they did it, but I do know how a lot of F2P developers get greedy or desperate and start adding stuff to their game that is essentially P2P (I say essentially because of the technicality I mentioned earlier) and I can certainly recognize an incident like this when I see it.

    Edit

And I can see when the forum, in turn, is out raged by this and the developers essentially shrug it off or give a PR answer that doesn't address the issue (or it does, which goes back to my original post how they are going to keep doing this)

  11. Maybe I'm missing something here, but why is this an issue? There are other weapons such as the Dark Sword and Pangolin sword as well as alt helmets that are random rewards that you can ONLY find via specific Alerts and/or buying with Plat, which is entirely optional. Is it just because this was a weapon from another game, and people are sad they can't just buy the blueprint? As far as I'm concerned, this is the same as any other Alert-only item.

None of the other weapons are unique. The Glaive is the only ranged melee weapon in the game.

  12. This is a false dichotomy. They could have done it due to misjudgement of the community outlook on alerts, a last minute decision to make it more fun to obtain, an attempt to fill out a hole in the availability tiers -- there are a NUMBER of good reasons they could have done it, and it's not fair to them to jump to the worst ones possible.

It is perfectly fair when someone wants my money.

  13. As an example, i downvoted this person because his comment was shallow, inflamattory and added nothing to the discussion at hand. And here i am explaining why i downvoted him.

You just sounded like a bigger jack &#! than me. And I'd say my comment added a bit to the discussion. It addressed the fact that they didn't specify they learned not to add Pay 2 Play content, and let's face it: the odds of being on when the glaive alert pops up make it a pay 2 play weapon. Trying to slip it in to the game the way that they did is a shade business that a lot of other bad companies use as a technicality for them not adding a pay 2 play weapon and because of that technicality, people defend them.

They did this because they are in desperate need of money or are getting greedy. Since I don't know how much they make, I'm going to assume it is greed. I've come to expect better of DE and the fact that they did this makes me worried about the longevity of the game; games to tend to go quickly when the developers start to do stuff like this.

Edit: Yes, it was inflammatory and it was very few words, but the message was clear on their part and mine.

  14. The Chronus is the second worst weapon in the game, the worst being the Skana. In general, stay away from long swords, they are inferior to either heavy or duel weapons, mainly because they only hit one target at a time.

  15. Should give full rewards. I've lost well over 100 resources (uncommon and rare) and countless mods to host migration with this recent change. It is something that is starting to make me tired of Warframe.

    Edit

Or do we get the resources? I notice I know have some higher resource levels than I remember.

  16. The Snipe tron may be good for you...it would better support your supporting roll by being able to provide headshots when you aren't healing. The Boltor is also an amazing all around weapon even if you don't like shooting that often. You could put a high fire rate mod in it so it would chew through the clip faster and you could get back to healing sooner.
