At this point its just the platinum sales. I get DE dose need to keep the lights on and these plat sales keep the game free. Still taking some of the RNG out wont kill the whole thing.

There’s a trade off. Astronomical prices pores gas on the jack pot fire. Soon enough the game is known as a casino bound plat fest, not a game to play.

Nother dupe thread on this instead of adding to preexisting ones, not surprised given the "nature" and awareness level reflected in riven whine threads.

Rivens aren't required for any content and have a relatively small impact on the game's damage picture. Don't believe me? Bring a bad ass riven, I'll bring a two forma pixia Titania. Will sort out just how "OP" or "necessary" rivens are after the mission. Same for Excal, Volt or Mag, the STARTER FRAMES.

Rivens aren't "endgame progression." Rivens aren't tiered gear that anything in WF needs to complete. What they are is trinkets for bored vets to play with in the simulacrum.

"Brought my uber riven to a mission... where are the mobs for me to slay with it? Oh... Saryn, Equinox, Mesa, Titania, Volt, Mag, etc. etc. in the team."

Riven whining is a joke and needs to end. If DE can figure out how to make more $$ from rivens, do that. If making plenty of $$ from them now? Working as intended.

It's amazing to me how many people think they are playing a tiered, gear treadmill raid game, WOW, a Korean grinder, based on the EQ model. YOU... ARE... NOT... PLAYING... THAT... GAME!

As much as I hate time-gating, I think it would be very appropriate for riven stat locking. You could have something like a once-per-50-days limit to prevent the possibility of straight grinding for every stat and kicking out perfect rolls in a few days (if you're lucky). Then make the locking cost 50k kuva or more, and add some small kuva scaling in kuva fortress and I think you'd make a lot of players very happy and get of them playing more. In other words, make stat locking a lesser available mechanic to avoid the meta-busting scenario Scott says they'd like to avoid.

I think our goal in requesting stat locking should be in the spirit of wanting to actually play the game, rather than essentially being forced into days of watching trade chat if we want an ideal riven, which means not playing the game and participating in a not-so-great market. Although the market would still be there for those who want to pay to skip the wait and grind.

The issue with rivens and the plat market is not the rivens. The issue is that people try to sell rivens at obscene prices, and some people decide to buy them.

I don't know if people know this, but if everybody just stopped buying rivens being sold at way to high of a price, they would reduce the price.

I for one will never spend over 2k for a riven. Had a guy argue his riven was worth 10k because it had god-tier stats and was never rolled. It was for "a collector". I told him he was crazy and moved on.

Us players are just as guilty for the state of the riven market as DE is for making RNG based.

You could say "Player go insane for the new Meta Arcanes/Primes/Trade-ables, and only certain parts of the Player-Base can farm them efficiently to get and sell them. Is this really the "Game" DE wants to produce?".

That's a pretty weak analogy. All of those items are things you farm, acquire and then finish. There's a clear progression and a well defined end state (i.e. when you acquire the equipment).

Rivens aren't. They're an endless time sink whose only end point is when you get too frustrated by RNG to continue.

Your analogy would be more comparable if say, instead of having 20 armor more than the base version every time you crafted Mesa Prime it'd randomly have somewhere between -5 and +50 armor... and also that you weren't crafting Mesa Prime you were crafting a random prime warframe.
