idea to address knockdowns.

while personally it's never bothered me i though since so many keep complaining about it and refuse point black to use the Numerous mods that address this. i would make a suggestion.

the idea is simple. while being knocked down add  control to the directions you fall as your knocked down if timed correctly i.e just as you're hit you get a special animation  say press on the directional keys/ aim and jump at the same time your warframe will  push themselves across the ground as they fall gaining distance and recovering and have the other option press shift  and wasd to control fall/roll in the direction you indicate. for a shorter distance.

. but you still can't attack during this animation, but it allows you to have some control while being knocked over.

and have a possible third option, but much harder to pull of to press the crouch button split second knock down hits and cancel it out.

special bonus for pulls if you block or melee right as the cord is about to hit have a special deflect animation 

thoughts?

should NOT be a mod first of all...

secondly, another massive issue is being knocked out of the air... this is stupid at the best of times and completely ignorant in that this does not exist across all enemies that have this ability (also the only tenno that has this ability sort of is rhino for some stupid reason) you can jump over the line of "ground stomp" and not be knocked down but other enemies will knock you down whether you are in the air, on the ground, or outside of the range that the graphical effects show.

 

the inconsistencies are the problems here even more than controls on being knocked down, this is NOT about being able to fall just right or move around (sort of) while on the ground, also the time you are knocked down is random between any given creep/NPC that has this ability....

if these issues where fixed/addressed then no one would have any issue about being knocked down in the first place.

The mod should be something you choose to equip due to either not wishing to have to deal with the skill-based counters or to actively utilise the skill based counters. Like Monster Hunter, which is a game that similarly uses knockdowns as a means to limit the player.

This idea is sound on paper until you realise that there currently isn't any good way of actually seeing a knockdown coming. Enemies use abilities with the same frequency regardless of their power. Knockdown abilities are triggered pretty much as soon as the player is in range and most work very fast. Staggers are also treated with less respect than full knockdowns, despite the fact that any stun is a hard-counter to players as the game is presently built off a basis of 'Speed and immense firepower balanced by fragility and theoretically skill'.

Any stagger skill should be treated as something that the player can be fully expected to guard against, with proper telegraphing and tells. These don't exist in Warframe at present.
