Gifts of the Lotus Defense - Defense target instant death.

So me and 3 of my friends went to do all the anniversary alerts, despite us having all of the items, just for fun. It was all quick and easy at first, then we only had the defense one left, and we noticed this mission had Nightwatch enemies in it, so we all got happy about the idea of being able to finish their codex scans. But before we knew it, our target was one shotted and instantly died, without us even getting a "target is down" and/or the option to revive him.. just instantly got the "mission failed" screen.

We were a bit confused, but decided to try again, this time with my Oberon for healing, another friend went with Limbo to banish the target, and the two others went with damage frames. After 2-3 waves, we noticed the defense target could be damaged even though he was banished, no matter how many times we tried to banish him. But despite that, my 82hp/s Oberon heal kept him alive and well. Then suddenly around wave 4 or so, he went down in 2 hits and once again we instantly got the "mission failed" screen, NO option to revive him or anything.

Even in sorties and such you're always able to revive defense targets, I've never seen this happen in the game before so I can only imagine it's a bug.. especially since the alerts are meant to be pretty easy, so everyone can get them, and others I know did it with no problem with low ranked gear and no healing etc. Meanwhile 4 veteran players couldn't keep him alive, so we're pretty sure this can't be intentional. xD

Anyone else had the same issue or is it just us? Or is it actually indended? IF it's meant to be like this, a heads up would've been nice. 😕

Me and 2 of my friends were also having this issue, after a while we figured out that it was actually manics doing one of their teleport and insta kill attacks on him that was doing it. so we adjusted and used a gara wall to keep him trapped in one location, and a largish limbo cataclysm to keep everything at bay and stasised, and oberon for healing and also some hallowed ground to kill stuff. We also figured out that the manics have an invincibility phase, so you actually cant killed them while theyre stasised or in the bubble. So you let them stay frozen, kill everything else. then kill them last, there seemed to be at least one manic for every wave. Side note, to kill the manics you do actually have to drop the cataclysm, or drop stasis and lure the manics outside of the Cata. Hopefully this helps some of you guys.

The first time my buddy and I tried the mission this afternoon, he was insta-gibbed.  I was watching his health-bar and it literally went from full to dead in one hit. No downed state at all. At the time were were running Rhino and Frost, which are our go-to defense frames.

Second time, he ran Gara and I ran Hildryn. He kept his defense shield on the "escortee" and I kept Aegis Storm up to float anyone who came close. The dude kept wanting to run away and attack the manics, but we found if we put up a Mass Vitrify that was just big enough to cover the central area, he couldn't get out and they couldn't get in, yet I could float anyone who came close.

This worked out well until Round #14. One of the manics got "stuck" in an invulnerable state. Apparently they do a sort of "warp" maneuver, and just before they start the animation to warp they go invulnerable (health bar turns gray.) I tried re-floating and slamming him a number of times to shake him loose, but nothing. We couldn't fire on him, and he refused to move. We were close to aborting the mission, but on a lark my buddy decided to Mass Vitrify one last time and glassed the manic. This apparently was enough to rouse him out of his stuck state, and we killed him and were able to finish the final round.

Little buggy, but it was otherwise fun.

much worse is when the mission can't be finished because those stupid maniacs bug out. they get invulnerable right the moment they die and then it's game over (abbort mission).

same crap that ALWAYS happened in the past with such invulnerability units...

I am running into a similar issue with the Defense mission on Mars. The difference is, one of the Nightwave Maniac's won't derender after being killed, which won't allow the next wave to begin. This typically happens between 4, 5 and 6 waves remaining. While running around trying to figure out what was wrong, I found this guy floating in the air above the lift. 

EDIT: Not sure if this would work for everyone, but I was finally able to complete this mission. I done a complete uninstall of the game, removing all files and folders left behind. I then done a fresh install via steam, and instead of having my game set to solo, I set it to Friends Only and then started it solo. Everytime I came across one of the Maniacs, I waited to make sure their Health Bar was visible (showing color) and not greyed out when invunerable before I would try to kill them. Again, I am not sure if this would work for everyone but it worked for me. Couild simply be either luck of the draw or RNGeezus.

Glad to see this issue isn't just in my head. xD Also it seems like it may have been fixed a few days ago?

"Tweaked the following stats for the Nightwatch Powerclaw to fix them doing a one-hit KO to Grineer Defectors

  • Decreased base Melee damage from 75 to 30
  • Decreased Slash Status Effect Chance from 15% to 5%
  • Decreased Critical Chance from 30% Chance (for 3x Crit) to 0 "

Anyone know if this actually fixed it?
