Returning Player, Gone for 1.5 Years, Need Help

I've been away from this game for about a year and a half.  When I last played, I was (and somehow, still am) the leader of a small clan with most research done.  Most of my members have dropped or have been as inactive as I was.  Currently, I am trying to get back into the game, but have a lot to try and work towards.  My main issue includes a severe lack of slots for Frames and Weapons, and a lot of my long-awaited primes having come and gone into the vault.  If anyone is willing to help me out, grinding or otherwise, I would appreciate it.  I'm loving the new updates already, but I feel so confused at the same time.  Side note: how do you switch to your Melee weapon and keep it equipped, manually blocking and everything?  It used to be holding down F until you swapped to it, but now it seems to take a Quick Melee attack to bring it out at all.

Yes, they completely removed the "hold F for melee" thing. Now, if you want to block with melee, just swing your melee and don't press the mouse buttons. Your melee weapon will stay out, and you automatically block bullets without having to hold a block button (using the same mechanic as Excalibur's Exalted Blade)

Thank you!  I miss the old mechanic, but it makes sense.  Just gonna take some getting used to, lol.  Is there still dual-wielding? (Skana and Furis, e.g.)  Also, what do the new Emissive color options do compared to Energy?

Yes, there are still dual swords. I like using the prisma dual cleavers.

emissive: the color of energy ON your warframe

Energy: the color of your warframe's abilities.

Thank you!  And I know there are still dual-wielded versions of the same weapon (my Riven-loaded Akvastos as the main sign), but I remember there was a time where wielding a one-handed melee and a one-handed sidearm could be done at once.  Is that still true?

Not since I started playing. I thought I heard something on a DevStream or here in the forums about them wanting to do such a thing. I didn't realize it actually HAD been a thing and people wanted it BACK. I thought it was a concept of something people wanted that they MIGHT do, if they could figure out how to make it work in melee 3.0 (The new melee system they are developing. Currently we are at, to quote Steve: Melee 2.999997, lol.

It's limited to one-handed secondaries and glaives, but it exists and has a few unique mechanics (a crit throw, and your ground-slam is replaced by...being able to throw the glaive in the air). But it does exist (Update 21.0 has the relevant patch notes, if that matters to you).

It's moderately fun, or at least a change of pace if you normally go with straight gun-play. And you get a fancy reticle I guess. Just try not to blow yourself up. 😉

Actually, there was a devstream where they were talking about Melee 3.0, and they explicitly said they intend to make that work for all one-handed secondaries and melee weapons, not just glaives. It's glaives for now, but expect 3.0 to upgrade it to all one-hand melee.

Thanks so much!  I couldn’t remember how much they had implemented.  Now I need to farm stuff so I can trade for Akvasto Prime (and the 2 Vasto Primes it needs) to make my favorite Secondary shiny, and farm to trade for Hydroid Prime.  I hate that I missed out on them.  Gotta farm so I can get Plat for more stuff, period, lol.

Oof. Hydroid just went into the vault last Saturday too, I think.

If you're farming the new stuff (Wukong/Zhuge/Ninkondi), the new Prime relics will show up in the Plains of Eidolon and Fortuna bounty rewards. If you've progressed enough through the Fortuna content, there's also a set of bounties that drop Radiant relics for them (which can be nice if you're short on traces, but sometimes not good if the part you want is common). (If you haven't, maybe something to play around with if you get burnt out on relics).

I'm not a big trade guy (so I could be totally wrong about this), but I imagine the prices for the new stuff are probably still slightly above market at the moment, so might be worth aiming for those if you want to sell.

And note that the Prime Vault is opening on the 16th (Nyx/Rhino). I mention this because it will dilute certain pools (for obtaining relics you actually want), so just be aware that's on the horizon. Can also be worth stocking up on Nyx/Rhino stuff as an investment, if you want to have some stock to sell further down the line.

Yeah, it broke my heart to see he just got vaulted.  He is my main, lol.  I am hoping that, since Hydroid isn’t super popular (last I checked), the parts and BP may be cheaper than most, lol.  I may just have to farm that stuff, too!
