The Vastata would be a corpus designed shotgun, either a fletchete firing gauss gun or a fletchete firing railgun. The high velocity would give the gun a very tight spread and less damage falloff than other shotguns (so even tighter than the Hek or Sobek), and damage comprable to the Hek as well. It would be single fire, with a slower fire rate than the Hek. In addition, it would have a charge function; you can charge up shots to deal about twice the damage and gain a default puncture of 1-2 meters, balanced by taking about three times as long per shot as firing uncharged shots. Perhaps let the charging be along a scale, with the longer you charge (up to the maximum X2 damage and 1-2 meter puncture), the more damage and puncture you get? The convention appears to be that corpus-derived weapons are names ending in 'a' and about half of them are latin. So in other words, it's a shotgun Lanka with puncture, hitscan and 280 base damage? What? That's crazy. I said comprable. Even if it did have 140 base damage, doubled by the charge, it wouldn't be that OP because it would be much slower than the existing shotguns. I just ballparked some numbers, with some feedback we can fine-tune it to be more balanced. Mabye give it just 100 base damage, with the charge attack doing 1.5x damage and taking twice as long as firing uncharged attacks. Also, it will still have damage falloff and, despite a tighter spread, less than perfect accuracy. The Lanka is a sniper rifle, this is a shotgun. That looks like a neat and similar idea, varying mostly in flavor. Having variable damage falloff and spread based on charge time is a good idea, would be another way to ballance my rail-shotty.
