DE Please Don't Make Sexual Jokes

Children too young for it to be completely inappropritate to expose them to sexual jokes absolutely, under no circumstances, be playing this game about violence, war crimes and abuse of an emotional, psychological and physical nature. Hell, Ballas kissing Lotus without her consent is a form of sexual assault.

However, eventually kids are going to start to develop sexual thoughts, unless they're asexual themselves - in which case they're probably not going to understand it. And these children will need to be exposed to information about those thoughts, as well as the social norms around them. Including making crude jokes sometimes. And to be clear, people at the early end of this age spectrum are also still probably too young to be playing this game that is, again, about violence, war and abuse!

But in any case completely banning any reference to anything vaguely sexual would ultimately be doing more harm than good. People need time and exposure to develop before they're actually mature enough to make decisions regarding such complex topics, and 18 is to be honest just the 'close enough' to an average that America has agreed to.

The game is rated M(17+)/PEGI 18.

If there are younger players than 17/18 playing the game (of which I have no doubt there are), that means they fall into one of two categories:

1. Said players have their parent's permission to play the game, in which case their parent(s) do not mind if their child is exposed to more adult oriented content in the game.

2. Said players do not have their parent's permission, in which case it's ultimately the responsibility of the parent to prevent their child from accessing the game.

In either case, the onus isn't on DE to censor themselves or the game in order to be more acceptable or cater to demographics that fall below the age range specified by the game's ratings (unless DE is attempting to get the rating reduced from M(17+) and PEGI 18 to, say, T(13+)/PEGI 15, which it doesn't seem like they are).

To put it another way, it's like asking a company that produces naughty magazines to remove any lewd, suggestive, pornographic or otherwise adult content from said magazines 'because kids might get their hands on it' ... which I guarantee you, kids do get their hands on that sort of stuff no matter what.

Besides, that joke was so mild it didn't even register on the scoville scale. Literally no one was harmed by it, no child was robbed of their innocence, and if a teenager or kid who saw it wasn't old enough to understand the joke then it probably just went over their head, much like all of the sexual innuendos and puns that (which may come as a surprise) are in a lot of children's TV shows and cartoon movies.
