Hello fellow Tenno!

 

  My wife and I are travelling from the States to be at TennoCon this year and I'm unsure if the venue and the local area will accept US currency, or if we should convert some of our funds to CAD?  First time going to Canada, so we want to be prepared!

Convert and keep the left overs in CAD even after the trip. USD about to tank.

You'll want to have some Canadian cash on hand. Many places do just fine with Mastercard credit cards, but I wasn't able to use my Discover card when I was there in 2018/2019. I'm from the US too. I haven't tried to use US currency.

Some places will take US currency, but the exchange rates are terrible since they are not currency exchange offices. Use an ATM as soon as you get there or go to a currency exchange business. Some bars for example will take your US cash at par, so that’s not good unless you don’t care. Like others have said, MasterCard or Visa.
