Gorgon Wraith... Thoughts?

So.. the reduced reload speed looks really nice. and the accuracy might be noticeable. but is anyone else disappointed with how small the damage/fire rate increase is? The Forums have be asking for a buff to the normal Gorgon to bring it in line with the Supra and the Soma for months now. Wraith weapons normally are a hot spot of initally being released with to much power that's then reduced over a time until their balanced. Now DE releases the Gorgon Wraith with a negligibly higher dps and it feels like this is them saying "No, we're not buffing it." which is kinda depressing because I really like the Gorgon and it's DPS is so much lesser then other similar weapons that it makes it harder to work with at higher levels. . .

what does everyone else think?  Am I overreacting or is anyone else disappointed?

the gorgon was pretty good when i first used it, and since it became more accurate as it spun up then it became pretty good at long range. Its main problem was reload time, and then the soma and supra came out. I'm just glad to see that an ol' fave is getting a touch up.

Personally, I'd rather they make the original Gorgon viable rather than "fix it" by adding an improved Wraith version.

I would strongly agree. Wraiths are nice and all but I worry DE's just going to leave them like this now. we had a hard enough time asking them to buff the original now we need to ask for a buff for them both?

If the damage really is 25 total, it is underwhelmingly weak. It is just another Gorgon with faster firerate and the same damage.

35 or 40 damage with a slightly lower firerate would be cooler.

Gorgon wraith damage should be buffed. It deals almost the same exact damage as Boltor which is kind of dumb.

I mean look at Strun wraith vs Strun comparison. Gorgon Wraith is a disappointing weapon. It should also have a magazine buff to 120.

Even Braton Prime out matches this gun.

25 damage is so weak.

I'll disagree here. The point of the gorgon wraith will not be for damage, but for status procs.

15% status at 13.3 RPS

With both dual status/damage mods:

0.15 + (0.15 * 1.2)  = 0.33

Adding split chamber:

1-0.33 = 0.67

0.67^1.9 = 0.47

1-0.47 = 0.53

Result:

53% status per shot * 13.3 RPS (+ shred/speed trigger)

Unfortunately the number that will be of most importance to a lot of people(Well at least me any ways. Vanilla Gorgon can't hit the broadside of a barn) is the increase in accuracy, which is the least crunchable number.

Ehh I dunno about the Gorgon Wraith right now. I'll stick to my Grakata for proc rates personally. Of course it wouldn't hurt to try the weapon onces it's given out. Who knows maybe it'll use the old Gorgon firing sound.

All in all, the Gorgon Wraith's got some decent buffs - Status and Reload in particular. I wonder if they'll give it a "-" or "v"polarity as well? Remember, the Codex doesn't list the base polarities (if any) that a given weapon might have and Wraith Twin Vipers came with one.

I wish they hadn't nerfed Puncture and Slash damage...but eh...that doesn't matter too much when you're going to be relying on elemental damage anyway. Magnetic and Toxin procs vs Corpus and Heat and Corrosion vs Grineer are going to be far more common now with that 15% status chance.
