Dagger Axe Skins Should Change Damage Type To Primarily Puncture

This would not only give us the opportunity for more puncture melee weapons (which are needed desperately), but it'd also make sense, and give more uniqueness to these skins.

 

That said, it might displease present owners of the skin, and so it could be an opt-in stat adjustment.  Alternatively, it could simply only apply to new versions of the skin.

There are exactly three melee weapons that do a meaningful amount of puncture damage. Fang, Fang Prime and the frankly terrible Jaw Sword. Compare to Slash and Impact weapons. No, we kind of do need more variety in puncture weapons, especially with the melee update about to happen.

Honestly, a lot of the melee weapons don't make sense in their physical distributions.

Bladed weapons that could be Puncture (or at least partially so):

 

* Kama + Dual Kamas

* Reaper Prime

* Hate

* All Ether weapons (Daggers, Sword, Dual, Reaper) could be 50/50 of Puncture and Slash to simulate their old intended Ether-feel. And make Impact on them close to non-existant.

 

After all, the above weapons (ignoring the Ether dagger and swords) are all weapons that use a pointy tip to attack. Which would be more Puncture-focused than Slash.

 

Regarding the more blunt weapons, these could also get a bit more Puncture (Impact still probably the highest):

* Magistar

* Furax

 

They both have spikes / flanged parts, which would probably give partial puncture-ish wounds.

 

Ceramic Dagger being Puncture makes little sense imo. It should be Slash, due to its curved blade. Dark Dagger on the other hand (and thus, in extention, Dark Sword) should be (even if just partially) Puncture-based. I mean, compare the look of those daggers!

EDIT: Heat Dagger could also be more Slash than Puncture, having a curved blade as well.

 

Furthermore, based on the OP's suggestion, I'd actually make a more drastic change too: Make all the current model-reskins into new weapons! That means:

* Brokk (A Heavy Hammer with mainly Impact and a nice chunk of Puncture)

* Manticore (A Heavy Hammer (not Axe, lol!) with very high Impact and Puncture)

* Dual Daggeraxes (Dualwielded Axes with high Slash and Puncture)

* Great Daggeraxe (A Heavy Axe with high Slash and Puncture, could also be a faster than usual Heavy weapon)

 

Meh, so much could/should be fixed in these regards :/

OP is right, we do need more puncture weapons.

 

Indeed.  Daggers aren't really viable; hopefully they'll get buffed when melee 2.0 comes.  But knowing DE, and looking at damage 2.0 (which did nothing to buff older weapons), this won't happen.
