Corpus Frozen World Tileset Expansion: Aquatic Tileset

Introduction
Since Europa has liquid oceans underneath the ice, it’s conceivable that the Corpus could have underwater facilities under the ice for secrecy purposes. What I’m proposing is to have an aquatic tileset where it’s underwater for certain sections. What this entails is that parts of it would be dry in the facilities itself and parts of it would be underwater where the Tenno would be exposed to freezing temperatures in the water where no ranged weapons can be used and the Tenno would be forced to melee combat (Glaive-type weapons would lose the ranged attacks and combos in water) without abilities. To go with this unique environment, I have thought up of 2 new game modes as well as different versions of the original game modes. These game modes are called Mobile Hijack and Precision Extermination.

Mobile Hijack
Tenno would be equipped with a underwater scooter that would be strapped to their wrists when used underwater. It would be held in one hand when out of water like a datamass and weapon restrictions would be in place where only secondary weapons could be used. When in water, movement would be in three dimensions, controls restricted to just the W and shift keys as well as mouse directions. The W key would provide thrust (forward momentum), the shift key would enable a short boost to the scooter and mouse directions would steer the Tenno. This game mode involves chasing after a Corpus submersible about the same size as the Liset (with the same internal layout except Corpus-themed) while underwater.

The flow of the mission would involve the Tenno going through a dry section to get to a terminal to find the location of the submersible as well as an airlock the Tenno could use in the facility in order to capture said submersible for the Red Veil to use for hit-and-run stealth attacks on the Corpus on the Frozen world. Once the console is hacked, an alarm would sound out if the Tenno weren’t already killing the Corpus already. As the alarm rings, a timer would appear, showing how much time the Tenno have to get to the airlock before the submersible gets too far ahead for them to catch up to it using the scooters. Along the way to the airlock, enemy spawns would be increased as well. At the airlock, to enforce teamwork, all Tenno that are not downed must be present before it activates, this means that the Tenno that reach the airlock fastest through rushing will have to wait until either the other Tenno fall or they reach the airlock. During this wait, the timer will continue to tick down.

Once all the Tenno are inside the airlock, the screen would fade to black and they would transition into the unique version of the underwater worldspace where there would be canyons and other geological formations. During this time, as the Tenno are not able to access weapons, coming into contact with any hostile lifeforms (such as the fish seen in the codex) will kill/down the Tenno in 2 hits with the first hit draining shields and the second hit taking out all the health (3 hits for Rhino with Iron Skin). To prevent the Tenno from being killed too easily by being blindsided by hostile lifeforms, the UI would flash the direction of the closest lifeform and sounds would alert the Tenno of the proximity of the lifeform. To successfully hijack the submersible, the Tenno must reach the submersible before the timer runs out and group around it within a 5-metre radius to board it.

Upon reaching the submarine, the screen would fade to black and transition into the submersible’s airlock before the Tenno have to clear the submersible of enemies inside, preferably a team of heavy Corpus units like Technicians and Fusion MOAs. Once the enemies inside are cleared, the Tenno must then hack the submersible’s control panel to redirect it to a base that the Red Veil are capturing.

While the submersible heads to dock at the base, the Tenno inside could see outside of the viewing ports of the submersible and once it docks at the base, there would be another transition where the Tenno would have to end up defending the submersible for a short amount of time before the Red Veil arrives to the airlock and takes over ownership of the submersible. This section would be a timed defence similar to mobile defence where you have to prevent the Corpus from destroying the submersible once the docks dry up. Once the Red Veil reach the submersible, the Tenno would be free to explore the facility free of danger and then extract on the surface at their leisure.

Precision Extermination
In this game mode, the Tenno must kill special Corpus heavy units that are in charge of repairing and maintaining the facility’s integrity. Relatively straightforward in practice, Tenno head into facility and heads to airlock as per normal but this time they would be walking underwater instead of using an underwater scooter. While underwater, no ranged weapons or Warframe abilities can be used, the only offensive power a Tenno has would be the melee weapons that they bring in. Whilst in water, movement speed would be halved as well as melee speed and damage.

The Corpus heavy units would have armor to toughen them up and distinguish them from normal Corpus units in health terms, this means that they would have shields and armor. Amongst the heavy units that must be killed, one of which would be an enhanced “elite” version of the heavy unit called the Foreman (has protoshield, alloy armor and flesh as health-type). In the mission, the Foreman must be killed along with normal versions called Journeyman (shield, ferrite armor and flesh). The Journeyman would be armed with an underwater welding torch that inflicts electrical damage (hyperbaric welding) while the Foreman would be equipped with a welding laser like the Spectra/Flux Rifle.

After killing the Journeymen and the Foreman, the Tenno must head to the airlock of a nearby Red Veil controlled facility to extract. Alternatively, a Red Veil Submarine would extract them to a Red Veil controlled facility where they could then extract on the surface (this gives the players a chance to get to know the people they’re fighting for by allowing them to interact with the Red Veil operatives). Along the way and even while attacking the Foreman and the Journeyman, there would be hostile wildlife encounters and they would be attacking both the Tenno and the Corpus as a neutral entity similar to the Kubrows and Desert Skates.

Sabotage
There would be 2 variants, one would involve destroying submersibles in dry dock while underwater and the other would involve destroying underwater tunnels with glass viewing panels that connect different facilities by taking down the glass windows. Both modes involve defending the objective while a single automated cutter device similar to a sentinel carried like a datamass en route destroys the objective.

Regarding the submersibles, the automated cutter device would be attached to the submersibles and they would cut the submersible down. In order for the sabotage to succeed, the approaching Journeymen must be killed before they reach the submersible as they would try to repair the submersible (extends the time needed for the cutter to destroy the submersible) while the other Corpus attack the Tenno/the cutter. There would be a health gauge for the cutter, if it hits zero the mission would fail.

Regarding the sabotage of the glass viewing panels, the Tenno must use the cutter to break through the glass and flood the tunnels in order to slow down access between facilities. Journeymen would attempt to focus on repairing the glass viewing panels while approaching Foremen would ignore the Tenno and focus on the cutter using their Spectra/Flux rifle-like laser welders. During the sabotage, hostile lifeforms would attack the Tenno and the Corpus periodically and randomly like Kubrows.

Rescue

Works on the principles of Rescue 2.0 but instead of extracting, the Tenno must bring the Red Veil Operative that’s been captured to a dry dock and extract using a submersible to a Red Veil controlled Facility and head to the surface to extract.

Spy

Exactly the same as normal spy with the addition of defending a submersible for extraction at a dry dock to a Red Veil facility and then normal extraction on the surface.

Deception

Exactly the same as normal Deception with the addition of defending a submersible for extraction at a dry dock to a Red Veil facility and then normal extraction on the surface.

Escape

If killed/downed while underwater, the Tenno must fight to escape a facility using a captured submersible in dry dock. It’s similar in nature to the Escape mission after Harvester harvests a Tenno. It goes the same way until all the equipment is retrieved after which the Tenno must fight their way to the submersible and defend themselves while the dry dock fills with water and the submarine begins automated preparation processes before the escape proper. This mission would have patrolling Journeymen and Foremen and stealth is essential in avoiding them. After extraction to Red Veil facility, the Tenno then proceeds to the surface for extraction at their leisure.

Defense

The Tenno defend a group of Red Veil engineers salvaging parts for the facilities that they control. Red Veil Engineers can be revived if they are downed, if they are all downed/dead, the mission would fail.

Survival

The Tenno fight while an operative raids the facility, extraction at a pre-prepared submersible that docked automatically (sent by the Red Veil). After extraction by submersible, the Tenno gain access to a Red Veil facility and can explore it at their leisure (life support meter removed as well as timer).

Capture

The Tenno must prevent the capture target from reaching a submersible, extraction through submersible to a Red Veil facility and extract on the surface.

Mobile Defense

Same as normal Mobile Defense with addition of defending submersible for extraction to Red Veil facility and then normal extraction on surface.

Random Hazard

Some rooms may be flooded and the Tenno would have to be forced into melee to fight wildlife and the Corpus Foremen/Journeymen.

Note: for access to Red Veil facilities: Tenno would not have access to their weapons in these areas (similar to a Dojo).

Firing ranged weapons underwater's inefficient because of the water resistance. Plus, water may cause misfires etc.

This is the future. And a game. Who knows, maybe the Angstrum is actually a torpedo hybrid gun. Didn't read the entire suggestion, but perhaps a base underwater would be better unless you already mentioned that. If you break a window, you have to hack the terminal and fight off sharks.

if someone is holding an electric torch underwater they are bound to die/ kill everything  the moment they activate it

also  this would be a great way to introduce the new corpus tileset when it launches kinda like when we  were finding Salad V

There is something called underwater welding that uses arc welding. It doesn't really electrocute the diver/welder.

The entire facility is partially underwater, thus the airlocks etc. Windows are also really sturdy in order to withstand the depths so it won't crack easily. The problem with using firearms underwater is that it cannot be as efficient as they are out of water so unless the devs are willing to make specialised guns to fire underwater like the Soviets did, it'd probably be more efficient to code a melee combat limitation instead.

How sturdy do you think the windows are on Corpus ships? Probably better than any modern spacecraft. Just saying. If we're going by anything, the windows would just be keeping the water out, with atmospheric pressure keeping the structure from collapsing or something. Sabotage = disabling the pressure core inside to destablize the underwater base.

I only was against the idea of the limitation because it appear that all of the map would be underwater. It was a misunderstanding on my part.

Now that I think about it, there should be a corpus boss for this tileset.

A dedicated and powerful laser cutter's used to cut that sturdy glass as opposed to a gun and even then it takes time for it to cut through so I've already thought that through and integrated it into the idea. Edited by MetroFallout

I'll just quit. This argument doesn't even have anything to do with your idea anyway.

But anyhoo....underwater labratory, where gruesome experiements are carried out on captured warframes?
