You Know What This Game Needs

A autosave feature that will save your game simultaneously on your computer and DE's servers, for those times you lose power/the game crashes/your computer or for when the servers go down/your internet goes down

And when you're able to reconnect the game syncs both saves together (to make sure there was no tampering on the user end)

This would be prefect for those time you finally get the rare mod or that prime part you've been looking for

The autosave feature would work everytime you pick up a mod and/or receive your reward, so it would always be up-to-date

Imagine this: The host is a bit laggy, then this happens and the host now have to submit all data to the server, since he is one with the game data. That would create a nice lag increase till that was over.

Remember the game is P2P, so something like that would only make a bad situation worse.

Too much overhead. If the game updated whenever you picked up anything, the amount of bandwidth the game would take would be crazy-high. Even limiting it to resources, folks like Nekros and carriers would explode the bandwidth requirements.

How about first we actually make the game run well, like when folks with bad connection speeds get picked as host. Seriously, there are a ton of bigger, more necessary fixes at this point.

Also, the system would have to save a user's state at all time, meaning if someone accidentally AFKs in a clan lab and it becomes bugged, and then the user crashed, you'd have to have the server maintain that status for X-amount of time in case the player returned.

Right now, you only get awarded items when you finish a mission, and if you get disconned during a mission, Tenno it up and do another one. Of all my time here, only 1 time did I NOT get stuff at the end of the mission, because of a weird bug when it was saving from the client at the end game. Otherwise, it works great. Stop trying to fix what's not broken.

I think there should and will never be an autosave feature... because of one major reason: Cheating.

Having a savegame file on your harddisk enables people to mess around with the data before it gets synchronized with DE's servers. Even if it is encrypted people will probably find a way to get around that, given they have enough time. That's pretty nasty. Having it only in the RAM defeats the purpose because when you lose power/the game crashes the data is still lost.

well the whole point of it synchronizing is that if it doesn't match what DE has on their server then it's deleted

Well how are DE's servers supposed to know what you have on your computer without an internet connection? Without your computer and the game up and running? How is it to exchange any checksums and stuff without all of that working?

So basically if you lose the connection to the servers and any change is made locally your savegame becomes invalid because of the changes not known to the servers. The checksums wouldn't match anymore and the servers can't decide if you cheated or not because it hasn't seen how your local changes were made.
