Quatrez
So you're saying that Orokin created living frames? Also, why was the Ascaris taking control of the frame if it was living? I agree with that Frame is alive and dude you noe control collar that use to control prisoner ( fictional)
Zantos54
Can we have an actual conversation about this now? Kinda hard to discuss lore when there are a ton of plot holes and most of what we say is our assumptions or theorys

Only thing about them I know for sure is that they are orokin, and that they control warframes. Their looks, origins, reasoning for being in cryopods, or for listening to the lotus is all unknown. -.Will.-
Tenno come from the Void, there are 3 theories: 1. They live there and some returned to "help" Orokin. (doesn't make much sense) 2. Orokin sent humans there and in a few days (?) they managed to turn into Tenno (makes sense, except for the length of time and that other people (the queens) would send people there to get stronger)3. We're a faction of people that maintain "balance" in the universe. Should any one group get too strong, we return and eliminate them. It explain why we're awake now (the queens faction), why we eliminated Orokin and the sentients (both of them were far too strong), the only flaw in this theory I can think of is how they maintained balance before they had the frames, but it's possible that it got founded during the Old War. We never see them referred to as such, and the description of the Orokin (breathless, cold and gold) is decidedly non-human. The wiki says the orokin took the twisted few that returned from the void and built the frames around them. They knew whoever it was coming back well enough to build a frame capable of sustaining them as well as amplifying their abilities. They had to have deep knowledge of their anatomy to do such a thing. Also, since there is no mention of any other races, why would they provide another race with warframes? Of the grineer and corpus, only alad V has made anything close to a warframe. That was ony by using the warframes of fallen tenno. So no other race knows how to create another tenno nor the warframes. Thus its a safe bet they are orokin.
Archangelzz
The Technolyte Virus is in no way connected to warframe. The tenno are inside the suit. The orokin built the suits to act as a catalyst for increasing and controling the tennos powers they gained from the void. Actually that is not entirely true since the creatives of dark sector said Hayden Tenno was the first tenno and his warframe was a direct result of the Technolyte Virus but we also know the orokin were playing with the virus and using it in various ways they made the giant 3 headed infested boss he used to be a bio weapon for the old war. who is to say the virus did not play some part in creating the warframe it even says they built the warframes around the infliction. vaugahn
2. Orokin sent humans there and in a few days (?) they managed to turn into Tenno (makes sense, except for the length of time and that other people (the queens) would send people there to get stronger) So here's my theory, pieced together from what we know: Technocyte is a void-native organism. When the tenno were sent to the void by the Orokin they were afflicted but not infected, and became carriers of sorts. This allows them to interface with the warframes, which are made from technocyte tissue.

Well given that there's a lot of posthumanism in warframe, wouldn't it make sense if the Orokin were some super-evolved offshoot of humanity that ruled over the rest? That would explain what we know about them.

Zantos54
They just need to sit down for a day and fix the lore. It wouldn't even be hard. I know right? But I do not believe they are capable of doing so. The dialoge in the game is so poor at times its laughable. It suggests that maybe they dont have a lore department or anyone capable of writing well. But what if DE has these arguments and they can never decide on a theory? After how many years? Most games already have the theory before even being created. The story is a key part to any game. Edited July 28, 2014 by Zantos54

All we know for certain is that they were soldiers. The Sentients had won. They had turned our weapons, our technology, against us. The more advanced we became, the greater our losses. The war was over unless we found a new way. In our desperation we turned to the Void. The blinding night, the hellspace where our science and reason failed. We took the twisted few that had returned from that place. We built a frame around them, a conduit of their affliction. Gave them the weapons of the old ways. Gun and blade. A new warrior, a new code was born. These rejects, these Tenno, became our saviors. Warrior-Gods cast in steel and fury striking our enemies in a way they could never comprehend. Excalibur was the first.
vaugahn
In ODA, the lotus says that it was a creature created long ago to fight in an ancient war. Possible it was the war the orokin were in. The "Old War" is the war between the Sentients and the Orokin, and we know the infested were weaponized to fight in this war. This is from the Derelict description: "The Derelicts may have been test sites for the original virus, which would explain the extremely developed state of Lephantis, or simply could not escape into the void in time when the Technocyte virus was released against the Sentients."
