Some schemes are designed to work when ignored, and others are based around drawing/misdirecting attention. Right now, it looks like Five Guys (presumably it's only one person, but there could be others participating directly/indirectly) started on the first track, and has now transitioned to the second. People are now speculating and inventing narrative faster than the authors of the plot could possibly write it. It's likely that other parties have now begun turning things toward their own ends, totally independent of what the primary plotters had in mind.
