Banisters And Such Taking Damage?

I keep seeing this, mostly in the void (perhaps only?) but when I use aoe weapons (simulor) I notice dozens of numbers popping up everywhere on railings, banisters and the like.  It looks quite odd and though it has no impact on anything so far as I can tell, so I can't really put this in bugs, it is something that confounds me every time I see it.

 

Probably posts about it elsewhere already, so apologies if this dredges up anything.  I'd post a screenshot but I fail at remembering to get one every time it happens.

Glass guardrail-panels, like in the Void, take damage - breaking the glass. Once.

The guard rails in the Void can be damaged and eventually broken. That's probably what you're seeing.

They regen after some time and can be broken again.

IIRC
There used to be a lot of destructible objects in the maps. Like Light fixtures and electrical panels. I think it was to the benefit of Volt, back where there were only a handful of frames and his Ultimate needed those kinds of things to work.

That kind of stuff was scaled back, tho.
