Wait so who was controlling/operating Mesa

Recommended Posts

During the quest against the infested alad v we are attacked by a not fully infested Mesa who listens to alad v's commands but it doesn't seem like he was controlling her directly, since he was only just giving simple orders.

So I ask who was operating that Mesa frame at that time ?

No Tenno was in control of the frame. Mutalist Alad V controlled it. Simple orders seemed to be enough for the golem/whatever inside the frame.

I don't think that's the case because if you look up infested chroma it says " controlled by an unknown force and sourced from an Arcane Machine."

Maybe there is an ancient infested hive mind that have something to do with the sentients

Warframes by themselves are controlled by the link with their operators. Alad V captured and combined a Mesa warframe with infested tissue, probably breaking said link along the way.

Also, mutalist Alad V can control infested, so he can control whatever he put inside the warframe, as well as using the control collar, which is pretty much it. Remember he can control us with the collar, so making one for that Mesa works just as well.

The fact that it can use warframe abilities yet is still described as hollow, ''without a tenno inside'', is something of a plot hole.

May not be that clear cut. After all, the creature in the Rhino Prime Codex explicitly demonstrated abilities comparable to the Rhino Charge, Iron Skin and Roar abilities we'd normally associate with a controlled Warframe. Could be that whatever a Warframe is, they have this similar primal capability...or, alternatively due to their mechanical nature it could be possible that a sufficient alternative energy source can substitute, but not anywhere near the same potency as if a Tenno was operating them. For all we know Infested flesh could be sensitive to Void energy, which would explain why it's found in Orokin technology, like the Pendula on Luna.

Still, in any event, it's something we need further information on to clarify just exactly what's going on, so it's just a 'possibly this' conjecture.

No, the infested were a Biological (sort of) weapon the Orokin tried using against the Sentients, though the major reason it backfired was because as the technocyte virus grew in mass it developed a form of sentience in the form of a hive mind (And how we control the warframes, through an artificial form of it)

The rhino prime codex explanation is simple; it was a warframe host (the surrogate) being controlled by a tenno. That makes perfect sense.

A warframe alone cannot use those abilities. The host can, if controlled by tenno.

Problem is that the way the narrative of that piece is laid out, the implication is that it wasn't under the control of a Tenno until the end, the whole 'checking hands' thing. Before that point...feral, primal rage. The whole piece is essentially an elaboration of the first 'Transference' incident, looking at it retrospectively. If the creature was already under control, some significant questions to be raised if it was under control from the start, what with the brief exercise in cannibalism half way through. And of course, if under control from the beginning it'd be very easy to just walk in, murder Davis and the Narrator and do...absolutely no damage to anything else in that room and just walk right on out.

It was essentially just a type of Technocyte beast that wasn't attached to a hive so it was going on it's most basic instincts, to feed.

But in a way it was to be the base of the warframes.
