Shadow Stalker, Sentients and their theoretical connection the Umbra Frames?

Recommended Posts

So this is more than likely going to contain spoilers, look none of this stuff up on the wiki unless you want some (except Excalibur Umbra, not much on that yet) and with that out of the way, we begin! So Stalker appears to be a slightly reformed, differently colored (and helmeted) Excalibur warframe, who did something somehow maybe to get more powers. Or perhaps we are all capable of what he does within our singular frame (e.g Banshee could use Ash skills, Ash using Hydroid skills) in the same sense that he uses Absorb, Slash dash, Pull, etc. but later in the Second Dream he's adorned in robes and dressed in armor by the Sentient Hunhow (Hunhow'd he do that? you may be asking #sorrynotsorry)  the same robes which Excalibur Umbra wears. Is there a correlation between the Sentients and the Umbra warframes? Is there some dark secret here? Up until the second dream we haven't really seen peaceful Sentient and Warframes actually helping each other OUTSIDE of the good Tenno. Hunhow upgraded Stalker so maybe Lotus has to upgrade us? Or a new resource in the Excalibur Umbra quest will be required to "upgrade" Excalibur? This is more of a theory/I want to know what you all think but it seems interesting.

Obligatory "inb4 merge w/ megathread" comment.

As far as we know, Umbra is not at all tied to the Sentients (outside of a coincidental in-game model for the Stalker). A better set of questions to ask would be "How can Hunhow and the Stalker coexist in that fashion? Does the Stalker use void energy for powers as the Tenno do, or is it something else? Is the Stalker a true Warframe if he does not use void energy?". Stalker had a loincloth prior to his meeting with Hunhow, by the way. The only things added to him during the Second Dream trailer were the Pakal Armor and War.

If the Gauvan Umbra Sekhara is anything to go by, Excalibur Umbra is connected to a "shadowy order of Tenno", and the description "From the shadow of the long night emerges a new Excalibur." may also play a role. Or both of these descriptions are flashy placeholders, designed to trip up dataminers and translators of Chinaframe / Star Armor.

From what we can assume so far, Umbra has to do with the operators more so than the frame judging by the dialog of Teshin in the war within. Simply "upgrading" the frame wouldnt make as much sense considering the Umbra system is a new mechanic, not just a stat upgrade.

To expand on your comment though, Shadow Stalker uses the base Umbra body, but none of the added blings or robes as him. The robes shadow stalker uses is actually the torso attachment on Oberon, also.

Apparently Hunhow did give him a loincloth.

Stalker wears the loincloth when walking up to the War "pedestal" in the Second Dream trailer. While it doesn't appear here, neither did Hunhow give it to him. I'll edit my post accordingly.

Notice the "tuning fork" bits. We can assume so there may be relations between Umbra and Sentients.

Except that those gold crescent shapes on Excalibur umbra are quite common on Chinese stuff, such as weapons, and umbra was the China frame.

And to make a note we're not getting that exact frame, the golden parts were added on to give it a Chinese feeling theme.

So you can likely cut off the arm parts and that sameri style U on the forehead and expect something closer to our Prime without the face key but the other accessories. (There would be hell if DE cut out the scarf and loincloth)

except you can see those crescent shapes on Lua and on the Void relic station on your ship, it's Orokin architecture, not Chinese

notice how the question was "will Umbra have gold or not?", and the answer was "It will"

No one said it wouldn't. Steve also made a post last year saying it will be 95% the same.

So we can guess that it will loose the Chinese themed parts.

there are no Chinese theme parts on Umbra, as I said before those crescents are seen on other Orokin architecture

also Steve said he was 94% sure that Umbra and Umbra Prime were 100% the same
