currently, as depicted in Dev Workshop? whatever has Crits and Status, while being Slash weighted.
exactly the same as it is now. those are the Weapons that will Kill everything indiscriminately not caring for what it is.

whether that's what we'll actually get, who knows.

Every weapon fine before the change will be fine after, you can ignore the silly comment about switching to elemental weapons if you were not using them previously.

They are simply changing the phys procs to make them more useful, ignore the whiners and naysayers, they are always the same when existing mechanics are changed. And in the grand scheme of things assuming they get the final balance across IPS right, it is likely more weapons will see wider use post changes, not less.

pox and other pure elemental weaps

We will be getting the elemental status changes when they get back, if we take the current as still in flux, we can't really pull too much from it. If we figure that the result is going to be similar or the same; then weapons that rely on high slash status will suffer except in the most extreme end like weapons in the vein of Galatine prime, Tigris prime, and Atterax for example as slash status damage will be taking a big hit. Impact can be both good and bad in that regard with high impact being useful on stuff like a Gorgon if it went to full knockdown on status while rag-doll on a Rubico would likely help enemies who are in your sniper sights. Puncture would likely continue to be less than useful as is.

It could be inferred going along the existing elemental statuses that similar 'tweaking' would be done to try to make them more interesting without being powerful while corrosive could become temporary on enemies as it is on us players. Course, this just guess work and we really have to see what DE is willing to present to make informed decisions while on the other-hand, being prepared for some painful bruises that might come our load-outs' way.

Here's the thing:weapons themselves aren't changing. Everything that was good before is still going to be good. The biggest problem people are having is with the change to Slash, but when you step back a bit, it's not as big a deal as people are making it out to be.

At it's core, it comes down to this: a weapon that was dealing a lot of damage with Slash Procs was doing so because it had high Slash Damage in the first place. The loss of damage from excluding Impact and Puncture damage numbers in the calculation is actually pretty minimal. For example, Galatine Prime with Primed Pressure Point currently gets a grand total of 8 extra damage to it's Slash Procs from it's Impact and Puncture damage. There's no way that Galatine Prime is going to become a bottom-tier weapon because it lost 8 damage on it's Slash Procs.

Honestly, the thing that gets hurt the most by the change to Slash is the Forced Proc. There are certain ways to get Slash procs on weapons that would normally not be able to get them. The most obvious is Hunter Munitions, but some Stance mods can also force a Slash Proc when used with a non-Slash weapon (though I personally couldn't tell you which ones). These are great because they allow weapons that would normally not be able to get Slash Procs to do so, and the damage being based on total damage means those Procs can actually deal solid damage. If the currently proposed chages go through, these die; these mods are generally used because the weapon doesn't have enough Slash damage to be considered a Slash weapon on it's own, so chances are the Slash damage of these weapons is either low or non-existent. With the proposed changes, these mods can still cause Slash Procs, but the damage those procs do will also be either low or non-existent.

What it comes down to is this: if it's good now, it's going to be good after the change, though the damage of the Slash Procs might drop some. However, if it relies on Hunter Munitions or one of the appropriate Stance mods (and hopefully someone can provide a list of which ones) to cause it's Slash Procs, it's going to need some readjustment.

Yes and no. Right now, you can force a slash proc on anything with high damage and it will destroy. The change will keep this from being viable. The biggest change is that right now when u proc slash, it will do additional damage based on your total damage. After the change, the slash proc will only do additional damage based on your slash damage. So if u have zero to lil slash damage, their will be no point in forcing slash procs. Hunter munitions is gonna see the biggest nerf from this. So right now baza is awesome for me, after the nerf I'm better off running soma, because baza has lil slash where soma has high slash. This is the first step in damage 2.5. we don't have number details on %'s yet or the other changes. we'll have to see.
