Idea for warframe for starting players

Lets give players the choice of any of the vanilla warframes as a starting frame

i.e. Ash, Ember, Excalibur, Loki, Mag, Rhino, Trinity, and Volt (the OG frames)

Then someone will choose Loki and rant about how hard it is to play warframe.

I don't think we should have Ash, Ember, Trinity, or Loki

We should focus more on Warframes with simple mechanics and good survivalbility without abilities, not just the vanilla, though some warframes still need to be kept out, such as Inaros.

Loki used to be a starter frame, and there's a reason now why he's not, and why Rhino is a frame you have to farm.

The current three starters each offer the player a different playstyle, though due to Excal's radial blind and exulted blade, he winds up being a superior choice for certain missions (avoiding spoilers here on that.)

Rhino is a farmed frame so that the player will want to farm and build him, thereby teaching them the concept of how to get most of the other frames.

I'm all for loki being a starter again, but i'd prefer if they put in proper tutorials for each of your powers, since I didn't know anything when I picked him

I think the starters currently are fine, though I'd argue mag is slightly more technical than a starter should be. I'd replace her with frost then we're all good

Long ago, back when Ash's abilities were Slashing damage, I might've agreed for him.  But since he was reworked to have finishing damage (then later the Bladestorm rework) he's built for high end content. Almost anything in the star chart level range isn't even worth the effort for him, which is likely why he was changed to be obtained from Manics rather than a dedicated planet boss.

Actually she's the "third" starter with practically a warning above her ability details

Plus her powers introduce ability combos for new effects

Also if a player is restarting/changing platform why force them through the painful experience of the "baby frames" (as i call them) like excal designed to teach the (assumed new) player the mechanics

I think the choice of "generic all rounder" "semi tanky rangeish guy" and "basically a mage chick" is fine as is 

If anything id say make the warning a little clearer

Ah things have changed since I remember them then, since when i started Loki was the advanced one and mag was the middle. Assumed theyd just swapped loki for volt.

The order is excal volt then mag (id played some games with similar character difficultly choices before so i knew roughly what i was looking at) excal being the easiest naturally volt being medium (though i looked at him when i was starting and he seemed kinda weird (but his passive kinda snaps it all into place)) working as an elamental (specifically electric) specialist (like artax but with electric and as a warframe)

tbh i think they should swap excal for frost and swap mag for garuda.

 

Excal is quite powerful to just be handing out, but he also requires a ton of investment to reach his full potential considering formas for exalted weapons now and new players dont have that. Frost provides new players with an option for defence type missions in addition to providing good innate survivability and cc.

Volt is fine as is since he has good aoe damage as well as offensive and defensive utility.

Mag simply requires too much modding to even be passable since her primary cc is so weak. Even with significant modding her survivability isnt super great, plus shes terrible against infested. Exchanging her for garuda would provide new players with a healing option, plus she'll also come with some self survivability and an energy regen mechanic which would be a nice option as many new players can face significant struggles concerning energy economy before acquiring flow, streamline, and dash/pizzas.  Plus there'd at least be one female starter.

Good, put Trinity as starter frame so instead of killing the enemies you mysteriously put them hanging with green color 
without knowing what it does ? (Well of Life) since with every other frames number 1 skill is kind of help you do the killing.

I have seen Trinity Prime on Void survival doing just that


The free twitch drop is still going on so I seen a lot of Trinity users who clearly hasn't play a lot of other games
and kind of suffering because not only your weapons will be freaking weak given low mastery rank access, but lacking the mods for a proper Trinity build
can deem more of a liability than asset to the team.
