"Redirect 50 energy to shields with every kill", what does this mean?

I got a Vidar Shield Array with this ability: "Redirect 50 energy to shields with every kill."

However, I have no idea what that means, as there are multiple types of Energy in the game (Warframe Energy, Flux Energy, etc), and considering that for either of those types of energy, 50 energy seems far more valuable than 50 shields...

Anyone know what this actually does?

I'm willing to bet it's flux energy, or just gives you 50 shield energy per kill

Every kill (with RJ turrets) regens your shield by 50......

Does it take Energy from somewhere to do it?  The ability mentions that Energy is "redirected", and typically Warframe ability explanations are literal (if ambiguous).
