The artist says in his competition submission that it's supposed to be fought with alongside it's scabbard. The Skana doesn't have a scabbard and thereby no such animations for one. It'd be better to compare it to a more expensive two handed sword. The Zweihander for example. The Zweihander was an example of german expertise, crafted with multiple materials, forge-welded. There needs to be an exclusive skana weapon with a charge build. That also has a exclusive animation to it. Like a Quick Sheathe draw, Like in Rouroni Kenshin -- Batoujitsu, the Art of slaying by the Draw of a blade. The Blade should also have a Charge meter for the longer you hold it down the more slashes you would do. Have a Slashing animation so fast you only see your warframe unsheath and sheath his/her skana back into it's sheathe. Leaving an after image of Rapid slashes onto the enemy. Charging the Skana will begin to drain stamina but will make the attack massively strong hitting severe amounts of times! -- at the risk of having to stay still. Hell, Let's make it so it you have to actually build for Stamina if you deserve, the more stamina you have the more enemies get caught. And a tenno with a Fully built stamina build for his/her warframe can even transcend so much apparent that at a gauge, his Quick draw of the blade would even pull enemies towards him/her. HOLY S#&$ i just made myself jizz. For example, skana is a SWORD. I like a lot that this weapon was selected. And I think the attack should be charged as "Slash Dash" excalibur, but ending well: Hopefully this weapon is chosen! Both badass. Stop cherry-picking comparisons that reek of the same bullS#&$ that created History's Deadliest Warrior. It's all theorycrafting, and I hate using theory at that - it implies that it carries any weight. Really hoping to see this sword on the list of finalists when Januray 6th rolls around. Might have been what they intended but its not what i'm asking for. I think I kinda see what you are going for. An actual Katana styled sword. Same length and tactical use as a real world version. I don't know if you want the application to be a dual wield or a single hand, though? I make this mention as you are including the sheath in the art work which, to me, would me one of two things. Either the sword is one-hand use and has a decorative sheath or you are looking to have the sword function as a a dual wield weapon utilizing the sheath as a (like a sword and dagger, but more like a sword and short bo) weapon for blocking and bashing. That is a samurai fighting style, which would be awesome and it fits with another players idea for an enemy, samurai-tenno faction and a samurai warframe. A cool idea for the foundry, upgrading/enhancing the sword. There are different style swords made for either purely slashing (sgc/ko katana, flatter/wider /shorter blade but longer handle for close quarters destruction), some for impaling (O-katana, which is the longer sword I think you are thinking of. Hard to draw from the waist, a more back mounted sword) and the standard style Katana which does both slashing/impaling decently well. The Zweihander is anti-everything, being able to fight man-to-man thanks to it's long handle and balanced weight, making it alot faster than it looks. Like a traditional samurai would have used. I know they have three, but they really only used the shortsword, wakasahi *sp?* and the Katana. that would be pretty awsome. HRD654 Posted January 4, 2014 Share Posted January 4, 2014 (edited) This is pretty much exactly what I was imagining for the new melee weapons. The upside of this is that we could have a prime version of it, because we need to clutter up the voids more, amiright. Seriously, this is an awesome piece of work. The only thing I would add is that it should have a charge mode that returns the sword to the scabbard to charge it for an even more powerful attack, the downside being you would have to stand in place in order to do the charge, leaving you open.
