Infested Bow Concept (Now With Statistics)

One evening I had nothing to do and I thought that the game lacks another bow, Infested Bow. Infested bow is good idea but what damage it should have. We already have bows with impact, puncture and slash damage types. All have high critical chance and damage. But infected weapons always have elemental damage : poison or corrosion.

The idea is to make a bow with a unique way of dealing damage - arrows will inflict only minor damage (10-15 puncture or slash damage). After arrow hits the target,it will "come to life" turning into a small centipede. It will aim to seek the nearest target (even if it is the player), rush on a victim and explode in toxic or gas cloud with a small area of effect.

Livetime of centipede is 2-3 sec (And 1 second to get out of the wall or something else).
If the Arrow hit the enemy centipede just explode and release toxic cloud
Centipede have speed fast as Loki with Volt buff.
Cloud Deals 25 Toxin damage per second, for 5 seconds.
 
Thunderbolt mod will add Blast explosion and kill centipede(with releasing toxin cloud)
 
I think that the toxin would be better. It can be combined into other types of damage for each factions.

I really like the art and the visual concept:

- The sinew of the draw string

- The organic appearance, of where bones and muscles attach

 

Only things I would change visually:

- Remove "Y" symmetry as much as possible, like push it 

- Emphasis more of the bone structure internally

 

The mechanics on the other hand are something to leave desired:

- If it shot gas it would be very similar to the Torid

- Would the worm arrows be a visualization?

- What other ideas could the worm arrows produce? (ie: what other terrible things could needle worm projectiles do to foes?)

 

Overall: Fantastic Concept

I, for one, support that idea.

Not just another bow, but a minion-launcher of sorts!

Have them be short-lived and latch onto a single target, dealing continous damage... and if the victim dies from the bites it explodes into a gas cloud or maybe even gets turned infested? :O

If the arrows vanquish a target quickly enough, they scurrow away and seek the next one!

Of course there would have to be a limit to deployed arrows...

Maybe they only latch onto targets and damage them, but once the player right clicks they burrow into the target for high damage and if that kills them it explodes into a gas cloud or more small critters, or even an infested, friendly mob!

try removing the centipede.

slight impact damage, then gas or viral damage as the majority.

great design too.

Whyyyyyy. The Centipede is the most creative part about it.

The Centipede is cool, but spawning minions like that seems a little un-Warfrme (Moa's don't count, supplies are limited).

 

Perhaps they should just wriggle on and deal damage over time to any enemies they hit? Or perhaps have some kind of weak homing design?
