Torid Needs A Buff To Be On Par With The Penta.

The Torid and the Penta seems to be classified as grenade launchers on the wiki but the penta is vastly superior and has a keybind to make it explode whenever you want, not sooner or later. Torid doesn't have that and it also has a very low fire rate and reload speed.

On top of that, it`s a research weapon which means that it should even be better than the penta.

Please buff, it looks magnificient.

Also, damage is just fine, kills Ceres Grineer almost instantly (With mods).

Remote detonation on Torid might actually be fun, perhaps even something along the lines of special weapon mods that has been spoken of for Penta (like sticky or timed grenades, for example).

Actually I have a question if that's okay. Wasn't the Torid considered 'overpowered' at some point and was very popular? Was it because in was great against infested which aren't common anymore or was there some kind of nerf?

It was only ever considered 'good' (never overpowered) when proc rates were 100% and there were the three traditional elemental mods. You could throw on freeze element and create an entire field of slow effect, which made is inherently viable against any encroaching enemies (namely in defense). It was really only that slow effect that allowed torid to really do much of any damage against enemies forces. Its damage was also universal by default, much like Acrid was overpowered in that its stackable DoT would cause the same amount of damage to everything. Obviously everything has changed now with Damage 2.0, not just with the proc rates, but damage types and the lack of a universal damage type that harmed all enemies equally.

Well the thing is that the torid doesn't do self damage, which is why it's weaker then the penta which does do self damage.

Yes it was overpowered at one point and it also used to deal self damage but when they nerfted it (or at least some point around then) they also removed the self damage

Ah okay thank you. I just checked the proc chance of the torid in the wiki and it says it's only 10%. So yeah the really hurts it seeing how you described it as a CC or utility tool and it isn't as effective (affective?) as it used to be.

Vortex > forma intensive torid with gas damage

The clouds have a small chance of trigering gas, but it's s small chance for every could for every tick for every enemy, in short it will trigger alot.

If you want a viable Derelict defense startegy, this is one way of doing it, damage is low, but there are so many ticks that nothing survives, by having all the enemies clustered you also give yourself an oportunity to hit with the actual projectile that should do 1000 damage.

Advantages:

 - everything dies

 - no need to move alot

 - ammo efficient

Disadvantages:

 - Requires a vauban

 - requires a vortex build (max duration, low cost)

 - Effects may drop fps heavily

Yes, once upon a time, the Torid was considered one of the top tier weapons in the game. The down fall of it has to do with things like damage 2.0 (no more freezing stun cloud), infested being moved off the star chat, and the introduction of better AOE weapons (PENTA!).

It wasn't even that.

The primary thing is that its damage type (under damage 1.0) didn't care about armor - it's the same reason that weapons like the Flux and Acrid were top of the line in their day, along with Kunai/Hikou/Despair. Poison damage was one of the few types that was never reduced regardless of what it was shooting at, it didn't matter if it was Infested or Grineer - considering that by the time an enemy was level 130-odd (under Damage 1.0 standards) armor reduced the damage they took by up to 97% in some cases, well...

Nah it doesn't need to be on par with the penta, but IT is a area denial type weapon. I however would like the following to be tweak and buffed:

-a higher proc chance or atleast innate toxic damage.

-bigger cloud, currently it too small *most likely to create less lag

-possible secondary fire where you can launch your whole mag into that firing zone.

Am actually fine with the damage like you said.
