I Second Mass Effect 3.  Team play pretty close to perfection there.

EDIT: I'll second Borderlands 1 & 2 as well, pretty entertaining stuff if you share that sense of humor : )

I still have to finish Outlast and the Walking Dead , then Betrayer (  really good games if you are looking into the mystery-spooky kind of quest game)

Oh wait you said Co-Op, hmm Borderlands 1 and 2 then , and Team Fortress , both are enjoyable with friends and random people

Payday: The Heist. You either stay together or die alone, especially on the hardest difficulties.

I haven't played Payday 2 because my laptop can't run it as well as I want it to, but I'm sure the cooperative element is still there.

Man, I remember Alien Swarm.  That was a fun game, loved playing it with a couple friends and sometimes pubs.  Great co-op fun.  Nowadays (or at least, last I checked) you have to bring friends if you want to play co-op.  Community's deader than dead.

Saints Row 2-4 are almost extremely fun with a friend.  Played that with my ex for thousands of hours, across all three games.

Because screaming at your friend over who gets what gun that's dropped due to a shared loot system is the definition of co-op fun.

Funny.... I've never screamed at any of my friends over a dropped gun, nor have they ever screamed at me over a dropped gun.

I never screamed at anyone, but in a group of 4 the hardcore become ravenous beasts. I was always left with the scraps considering I was more apathetic than anything else.

either way, a shared loot system in a co-op game... stupid.

And regardless... it was boring. So boring.

No More Room in Hell, F2P zombie FPS/melee, hardcore and very difficult. Death is slow and painful.

Magicite, rogue-like 2D platformer. very difficult. Full team-cooperation is required, nobody can be left behind.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Phantoms, F2P squad-based TPS of near future.

Quan Qiu Shi Ming (many names for local versions; Mercenary Online, M.A.R.S., BlackFire), F2P Chinese TPS built on Gears of War (UE2) engine, PVE horde modes.

Fun Co-op games?

Warhammer 40k Dawn of war II retribution

Typing of the dead: Overkill

The Darkness II (does that count? it has a co-op campaign separate from the actual campaign)

Torchlight II

Pikmin II

Warhammer 40K Space Marine

Risk of Rain

This is where things get a tad iffy, are games where you can choose to be allies count?

If so:

Civilization 5

The Stomping Land

Mario Kart Double Dash (2 people in one car? True teamwork!)
