I think go with the impact mod, since you can't increase the status chance more than 100%.

I believe OP is talking about mods such as North Wind, and not Vicious Frost. With that being said I think you should test it out yourself, and see which goes better, depending on the enemy I think either could be better.

Heya,

Status in the UI can't go more than 100% but you can still increase status chance to increase the amount of status effects with the boar P for example, you will get more status procs for a single shot (works with multishot, or multiple pellets like shotguns, very well).

Increasing damage will change the chance of a single damage type will proc.

For example :

- 85 impact

- 20 puncture

- 20 slash

- 250 corrosive

----> you'll get more corrosive procs than impact

if you choose to boost impact ...

- 350 impact

- 20 puncture

- 20 slash

- 250 corrosive

----> you'll get roughly same amount of impact procs and corrosive one. If you look for corrosive procs, you'd better have a high amount of corrosive than any other stat.

Yes and No.

You can go over the 100% status chance but it isn't going to increase it over 100%. There's a hard cap just like with efficiency. You can go over 175% efficiently but, you aren't gaining anything from it.

When it comes to figuring out what statuses have a higher chance to proc is based off of the damage associated with each damage type. Physical damage types are weighed 4x higher than elemental damage regardless even though the elemental damage may be higher. So, physical damage will proc more often than elemental.

Status with multishot is different than status per bullet. While status per bullet cannot be increased past 100%, status with multishot will often show 100% when the status per bullet is less than that.

To be sure you've actually capped status/bullet or pellet, remove the multishot mods. This is your *true* status/projectile. In all likelyhood you aren't actually at 100% status yet and need another 60%/60%.

Shotguns are difficult because they have 'innate' multishot, so even when the status is showing 100% without Hell's Chamber it can actually still be improved upon per-pellet. However you will be going from a proc or two per shot to more than that; some status effects have no benefit from being stacked, like Viral, Rad, any of the non-slash DoTs. So there's not really any point in having multiple procs per shot.

The big exception is Corrosive against armored enemies; multiple corrosive procs remove more and more armor. So you want as many as possible, and when Corrosive is equipped you want as high a status as you can get.

If you have capped status at 100% per projectile, such as is possible on the Vaykor Marelok, then you can influence *which* proc occurs by adding more of that damage type to the weapon.

For example :

- 85 impact

- 20 puncture

- 20 slash

- 250 corrosive

----> you'll get more corrosive procs than impact

Except procs are calculated like this:

Hypothetical base damage :
- 85 impact
- 20 puncture
- 20 slash
- 250 corrosive

Status chance weight:

- 340 impact (45% chance)

- 80 puncture (11% chance)
- 80 slash (11% chance)
- 250 corrosive (33% chance)
