"Kitten, it is cute of you to worry about how this could strain my budget, but don't worry, after this night we'll have enough cash to buy what's left of this country." Shikari smirked, displaying complete trust in those who stand before her.

"Guns are in the safe under the carpet. They're mostly small ones. There's even a Derringer, perfect for our queen here. But..." she looked back at Jean "You're going to need clothes. I've got something fitting in the second closet somewhere among the dresses, a real killer suit. Don't worry, I won't peak~"

The selection of weapons would warry from pairs of pistols, revolvers, a submachine gun, to even the small, two barreled Derringer model she mentioned, a rather expensive one by the looks of it. With prepared gear, stylish disguises, and full bellies, the squad of four superhuman women are ready to head into town.

- 30 min later -
When Shikari described the Index as a casino church palace, there certainly is more casino, or used to be. The large building stood out a lot compared to most buildings in town, despite shining much less than in its glory days as to not attract unwanted attention from outside. Though if there would be reports of infected hammering on the walls, the cause would be this place. Lights in every window, noise of people and music at the entrance, though it's just a fraction of what it once was. She found it funny that this would be among the first buildings restored and back in bussiness. It certainly was more lively than the almost empty streets this late, which was more of a good thing, as their attire could make them bright "mug me" signs.

A good distance from the entrance, Shikari stopped them.
"Alright, this is as close as I can get you all. Let's get over the plan again. Get inside, play the honour game with the WIPs, win, and while you're at it, get Davis to... open up a bit. Talk about the future, bait him to tell you what his beloved daddy is planning. Anything else is improvisation. Got it?"

Annika's face was set in a mask of 'holier than thou'. It wasn't too hard to pull off, being similar to the mask she put on when a man gave her too much attention and she wasn't interested in him.

Inwardly, she was frowning. She wasn't terribly religious, but it felt wrong seeing a church being dressed up as a casino.

"Got it," she murmured, then grinned slightly. "Oh this is going to be fun." She smoothed her face back down to its mask, before flicking her eyes over to Jean and Tara. "I'm probably going to spend the night treating you very coldly so... apologies now."

When the other two women were ready, she would start walking towards the entrance

"Don't worry, I won't hold it against you. But I might consider holding you against me in that dress!" said Tara, making a mocking, trilling, purring noise before chuckling to herself.

Equipment-wise,  Tara took the pair of Stechkin APS pistols and the derringer for herself and she taught Jean how to use the PP-19 Bizon that was in the stash. Once that was done, they were ready for whatever's coming their way.

The rifle felt heavy and clunky. Unnatural. She remembered the tutoring "uncle David" had given her, several years ago. The most important thing hadn't been any practice. It had been a small, yet vital speech.

"Remember, little dove. These things are made to kill. And people know it. If you bear one, you put a target on yourself.

That is why you must never, ever point a gun at someone without being ready to shoot, without being ready to take a life. Else, you might as well aim it at your own head."

Jean shuddered at the memory.

'I'm sorry, uncle. How many times have I done it wrong, so far ? '

Yet, she had taken the rifle with her. Accepted the risk. Because the life of the others were worth more than her own conflicts.

She had also taken enough knives to be a working armory.

She shrugged at Annika.

"Fine by me. Good luck with those sharks, alright ? "

Annika let a smirk slide across her face at Tara's comment, before setting her face into its mask once more as she looked at Jean. "I don't think I'll need luck, not with this lot," she said, then glanced back at Tara. "Keep that derringer handy okay? If things go sour I'm going to need it."

She glanced around one more time, checked she still had the wallet on her, then took a breath and head towards the entrance. Her steps were measured, purposeful, like she owned the place. Her gaze was levelled square at the entrance, as if those around her were beneath her notice. She added a slight sway to her hips as she walked, one that wasn't normally there. Her blonde hair was loose around her shoulders, almost shinning in the light.

A bullet seemed to pierce right throught the left bloating head, stopping it in it's tracks. It stood completely still for several seconds, before a black bubble started blowing out of the bullet hole. As it grew larger, it seemed like something was growing inside, pushing against the walls.

Hayden was emptying his magazine into the thing, but he wasn't just holding the trigger and spraying. He was looking for some weak spot. All of those creatures had one, like a flank in the enemie's defenses, a dent in the armour, a necessary flaw... which led his bullets to imbed themselves in the bodies of the right head. Eventually, some of the bodies would die, like a human would, their arms falling limp. The ones remaining still focused fire on Dimitri though.

The sight of the black bubble was disturbing, and the growth of it didn't seem any better. She shortly glanced over to the head Hayden and Dmitri were fighting, but turned her attention back to the bloating head. She aimed at the bubble and fired another shot at it. She hadn't noticed that her grip on the gun had steadied. Nor that she was feeling some of her fear leave her, although if that was of her own or from Zek was hard to say.

Edge would notice an increase in force he has to fight, though it wasn't the constant wave of infected getting thicker, but the soldiers redirecting their fire to areas uncovered by the beast. It was visible they did not care for it. After all, it's just a shadow of a mindless beast, thinking it can become war.

Besides, it'll deliver the message no matter what happens in this realm.

"Tch..." Even with an endless supply of matter to maintain his strength, it remains an Onslaught to the demon knight and no one can fight endlessly. In due time his mind would start to be affected by fatigue an his movement, even without physical fatigue, would become if not slower or weaker, less precise and effective.
Knowing that he also couldn't do much against it, locked in this endless flow of claws and fangs falling upon him to try and kill him, he has no breathing room and can't count on the defenders help, as shown by the shift of their attacks to not support him further.

"That old coot either wants me dead or is very trusting in my destructive abilities..." His thoughts wander a second as he sees a barrage of arrows slaughter a group of infecteds. A claw coming to his face snaps him out as he crushes it. "If only I could find a way out of this mess..." His arm pulses, tendrils shooting to multiple infecteds and devouring them. "Even with this I can't cut a way into this tide of monsters. At least I can experiment with ideas."

The arm shifts producing the blade he considers his body, "Why not see if I can find a better idea than just a big blade..." an infested leaps out of the crowd ready to get a slice at him Edge does not try to avoid, a simple step and the claws slash empty air. He winds up, hilt of the blade next to his chest, he thrusts, the blade changes, it opens up and forms a gaping maw ripping the beast apart as it closes onto it. "Too big, that'll be to heavy, but smaller it'll lack range..." The maw shrinks, another thrust, multiple infecteds are teared off.

And the fight goes on, it feels to him that every emotion he feels in this realm is somehow new, the desire for slaughter, he knew it yet it was different, the doubts felt overwhelming when they were minor and now... Curiosity, impossible to satisfy, every idea springing more possibilities, he wante to test everything find the perfect weapon, the one that would fit his partner perfectly, instead of just being an incomplete sketch combining in anarchy multiple ideas.

The reflection had enough, charging at the real Mimas.
"Prey... is... mine! Not yours!"

"You are fake." The Beast sidesteps the charging illusion. "Not... danger." it smacks its opponent's back, sending it to the ground. "Not... Strong." Another strike sending it flying away, it comes back flailing, its arms trying to grab Mimas or jab at him. "Not... Fighting..." He dodges the four arms his opponents tail slightly scratching his side before jamming one powerful strike into the illusion's solar plexus.

"Just weak." The tail pierces the skull of the fake. "Mimas alone will have the Prey." The illusion shatters as the colossus continues to move forward tracking his prey without even knowing where to go. How did Mimas not enrage, why it stayed so calm before the fake, it was not considering the questions at all, yet they were there tucking at its thoughts, but it preferred to continue to press on.

As the trio of one woman who had more than killer looks and her two killer body guards - plus, a little, inconspicuous cat - approached the entrance, eyes have slowly made their way towards their direction. Civilians, guards, drunks on the sidewalk who had spent too much of their hard earnings behind the walls they're leaning against, the new arrival seemed pretty interesting. Though, not for long, as their either had a half empty bottle or other things more interesting to turn to. Except for the 2 guards at the entrance, once the trio got close enough.

These guards weren't the usual grunts in armour who patrolled the streets, but men in black business suits, which practically yelled security anyway. They stopped the women at the entrance. "Excuse me madames, welcome to the Index. We'll let you inside, if you could just give us a moment of your time while we have a look at your arm band govenors."

At least these men seemed polite. So near to the entrance, the faint music from the inside was audible through the wooden double doors.

Spoiler

((Ignore the fire sounds. The water sounds are not rain.))

---  The Dark Sector ---
The bullet pierced straight through the inky bubble, and as it popped, it's inside had revealed to hold a Chroma. Sereena would notice it's skin to have a darker shade, with a black liquid dripping off it's limbs, but before it touched the ground it vanished from sight in it's fall. She'd also notice the eye's of the bloater head faintly glowing white, as it stared directly at her.

Dimitri would suceed in hitting some of the bodies, though they didn't seem to be any less alive until hit in the head, which he managed once. Two of the bodies holding it's neck up were neutralized, while the remaining three fired blindly at Dimitri, not slowed down by the need to reload, trigger squeezed constantly.

Hayden helped Dimitri's assault, while the middle head seemed to have recovered, and was preparing another swing of it's massive cleaver.

--- Mindscape ---
In the ongoing onslaught, change seemed little until now. In the high, icy ceiling, holes had appeared, the size of lakes as beams of bright light shone through them. The infected staggered, and soon enough some started retreating, others getting more agressive. From the walls, and archer shouted to his comrades "The demon's awakening! Retreat!"

With a lack of arrows, howlers hammered on the ice gate, met with no resistance.

--
This time, Mimas would see something that wasn't exactly a memory. He saw the sound bender, Sereena, in what seemed like the Banshee warframe, a revolver in her hand. Unlike the illusions, she felt physical, real, and the closer he got, he felt too. He could faintly smell the prey's scent on her, it had to be her. No illusion was this solid before.

"Awakening ? What are they all talking about ? those monsters are starting to run away." As he notices and questions the change in the fight Edge takes a small time to breath into the situation before running straight at the door to defend it.

"You bunch of idiots ! Why the hell did you abandoned it's protection ?!" He yells as he slashes a beast in two with the last form he gave to the blade, a scissor like weapon with a red twitching on it sides the blades jagged on the top and slim inside the maw, he also added a bony extendable chain to it as he noticed the desire to throw the original blade had crossed his partner's mind a few times, this way he would even be able to control it from afar.

He fights the howlers to try and pry them off the door, cutting and tearing them with new blade in his left hand, hammering and crushing with his right hand.

"Prey's scent ! She leads to him !" The Beast curls up. "Catch her !" He leaps with all his might to the frail woman dead set on getting his hands on her, convinced it would attract the one he seeks.

He feels himself pouncing yet it is different, stronger a ll around him feels feels different, he also is smaller than he imagines yet strong enough to get to the girl with this one leap.

Sereena would hear some muffled sounds before a Chroma, strangely less armored than the others, it's dark skin identical to the one she saw falling earlier, appears in mid air before her clearly trying to tackle her straight to the ground.

She tried to sidestep the Chroma's tackle, but was too slow. She was knocked back against the ground. She tried to push the creature off her, but wasn't quite strong enough for such. In the back of her mind she was begging Zek to use some odd infected trick he might posses. She got the help she wanted, although not quite in the form she hoped for. A loud high-pitched screech came from the quiver. It wasn't quite what Zek hoped to do, but the best option in their current position.

The creature snout grimaces discovering an array of disarranged teeth.

"Loud..." One hand comes to her neck not trying to choke her but still having a firm grip. "Bleed..." The other hand extends high its three fangs opened up and ready to fall onto the Sound bender's stomach. "Make the Prey come out... Have Him come !" It howls as its claws fall intending on piercing through the girl to get to the source, the thing latched onto her back he had seen in one of his prey's memories

Annika drew to a halt in front of the doormen, her expression cool, with a touch of disdain. Her gaze slid between them, thinking like lightning. She knew from possessing that solider in Vazorro some people knew of her capabilities, and believed they could block her. While she was unsure if that was true, it meant they might be able to recognise someone touching their mind. Another Tenno certainly could.

To this end, she reached out with her mind, very carefully brushing it to see whether she could influence them.

If she was able to influence them:

Annika raised her hand, and made a small sideways motion with it, pressing in with her mind as she did so. "You don't need to see our governors." Her eyes did not light up, since she wasn't drawing much power.

What? How else was she going to do it?

If she was unable to influence them:

Annika's eyes narrowed slightly but she complied, raising her left wrist, though her body language screamed 'get on with it you insignificant wastes of my air'. She was careful to keep the sleeve down, covering as much of her arm as possible. It was cold, so it could easily be seen as trying to minimise her exposed flesh.

Dmitri blinked as he heard Seerena shout something but she was interrupted, he then shouted to Hayden "Hayden! Rifle!" as he tossed his AKS for Hayden to use as well as a two clips of Ammo for Hayden whilst he decided to engage the Chroma, grabbing it by the back them slamming the monster's back onto his knee then slamming his fist into it's skull before throwing it towards Lephantis like a Javelin aimed for a large dartboard.

He then shouted "STAND STILL!" as he slammed his foot into the ground, sending a shock-wave around him, gravity beginning to become weaker and weaker and time seemingly slowing down around him and his comrades!

Hayden caught the rifle, but slung it onto his back, using his own rifle to fire at the damned creature. And eventually, The soldiers holding it's neck together fell limp, and so did the whole neck. The tendrill fell forward with a screech, but that's when a virbration equivalent to an small scale earthqake rattled through the ground.

The chroma fell limp on the pile of flesh that was Lephantis' body, but it was absorbed, it's lifeless skin becoming part of the larger being. But when Dimitri stomped, the ground around him cracked, and time seemed to become a blur as dust and stones slowly rose from the ground. In fact, time had nothing to do with this, but everything surrounding the Rhino would feel the shackles of gravity fall off, leaving them suspended just above the ground, yet he stood firm like a statue bolted down. This seemed to affect Lephantis as well, as the bloater head started to violently vomit black sludge around, and the recently fallen head slowly rose from the ground. Only the mastermind Mezmer seemed to be unaffected by the lack of gravity, and prepared it's blade to come down on Dimitri and Sereena both.

Hayden, seeing Dixon leave the ground, made a dash to finish the bleeding beast, but he too was free of yet another shackle as his feet stopped touching the ground. Seeing there's no way he could stop, he held his rifle in one hand, the Glaive extending from the right, and jagged it into the creature's limp neck, holding on for dear life.

--- Mindscape ---
Mimas would see his vision of the Tenno fade as infested flesh grew over his eyes, before the body that felt so real wasn't his anymore. The white void seemed empty again, and only the voice returned "Try harder next time, or the prey will be gone. This is real."

--
The world of Edge seemed to be ending, as not only pieces of the ceiling came crashing down, but also massive holes appeared in the ground. A crack was making it's way to the gate, making way to a large canyon of a bottomless empty void. He now had to dodge the floor cracking under his feet, and the little infected yet, to stand his ground. The castle on the other hand, seemed unaffected so far.

--- The Capital ---
Influence was a valuable resource, though in this case, Annika would not have enough. The guards weren't impenetrable fortresses or expecting to repell a mental attack, but the enferon in the air would excert too much energy to change their minds, and most likely draw attention.

One of them looked at the arm band, and a few glaces later her let her hand go and moved onto Jean, while the other one checked Tara. They looked at eachother, nodded, and then stepped out of the women's way. "Thank you for your time. Please have your safeties on, and have a pleasant evening." one of them said, seemingly unaffected by the Ice Queen's body language.

--- The Index ---
A step through the door, and the Tenno were hit by music, atmosphere, pleasant lighting, and the stench of enferon. In fact, the first sight they were greeted with was one of a fountain, spewing almost pure enferon. If they were just to get close, they would have an urge to throw their guts in for good luck. Though the rest of the place thankfully wasn't migraine inducing.

Slot machines, card game tables, plastic cups full of coins and poker chips, all an everyday casino needed was on display and in good condition. Everything seemed too normal for the wasteland just outside, but aside from the ocasional scratch marks or dark spots, one could forget about the world here. People were going left a right, some dressed fairly well, but most no different from your standard survivor these days.

Right at the entrance was the bank, the place Shikari told them the coupon would be needed, and chips could be bought if they felt bored.

Annika managed to keep her face straight as she entered, even though she wanted to grimace at the enefron in the air. She took in the sights, soldier instinct and training locating guards, potential cover, door ways and windows, all in two sweeps of the room, only her sapphire eyes moving. Rather than dawdle near the fountain, she moved swiftly, but unhurriedly, further in, a guesture ordering Jean and Tara to follow as if they were actually her bodyguards, and not her partners in crime on this heist of theirs.

'Let's get this show on the road,' she mentally said to the other two. Then her demeanour shifted slightly as she silently scanned the minds around her, hearing all their thoughts and wishes, listening to some of the poker games. Before she was an ice queen.

Now?

She was a predator... one surrounded by her prey.

For her part in this, Tara put on the face of an inscrutable bodyguard. Calm, cool, unflappable. She was to do her job outstandingly and nothing more. Her weapons were in her holsters and her arms were crossed for the most part. Close to where her pistols were but also far enough to look less immediately threatening and ready for trouble.

'Let's not get too crazy now.' she thought, transferring her thoughts to Annika.

The Beast roars, upset at such an easy defeat, how could it be so easily bested while he had "Her", of all people, in his grasp, the only one that would had lead his Prey to him.

"Can't things stop getting worse by every second by or am I asking for too much !?"
He jumps, leaps, and runs, escaping pits and avoiding falling parts of the ceiling still heading toward the castle that still seems unharmed by the catastrophe unfolding around him. Infecteds are now the last of his priorities, slicing through the ones on his way he tries as much as he can to remain composed and make it so that he would be able to enter the castle and protect himself.

Annika mentally waved her off, even as she closed in on the bank where she could exchange the coupon she had been given by Shikari. They needed to get into the VIP poker games, and she needed to exchange at least some of the money she had for chips. She pulled out the leather wallet and changed 275,000 rubies for chips, as well as handing over the VIP coupon. She held a bit of the money back in case they needed it to pay for food and drinks.

"Good evening and welcome to the Index. How can I help you?" asked a woman behind the bank's grating, writing something down on paper. Once the VIP coupon was presented to her by Annika, she seemed surprised, shocked even, looking straight at the appearantly very whealthy woman "Oh, I didn't expect to have the honour of meeting one of our VIP guests... You are just on time miss. A member of our staff will be with you shortly." she said as she waved someone over from behind the counter "A-and the game's bet is 200,000 rubles." while her first sentence seemed rather professional, it slowly crubled away as she began to studder. It seems not many people had the liberty of being rich these days.

Seeing there's no way he could stop, he held his rifle in one hand, the Glaive extending from the right, and jagged it into the creature's limp neck, holding on for dear life.

Dmitri quickly shoved Seerena away from the blade and quickly jumped out of the way of Lephantis' blade, once the blade crashed into the ground , Dmitri took the advantage by unleashing his Bladed knuckles to cut the blade off Lephantis' arms.

He also pulled his Sawn off shotgun out and fired it at at Lephantis' many heads once more.

--- The Index ---
"Good evening and welcome to the Index.

"Hence why I'm giving you 250,000," Annika said dryly, eyes narrowing slightly in a 'you are wasting my time' fashion. "I wouldn't have brought less than the sum required. It would be foolish to say the least."

Seerena had very little time to recover from the chroma being tossed away and getting up. Only a few seconds later she would be shoved aside by Dmitri, barely keeping balance. Thankfully, she did manage to keep her feet on the ground and not float about. She scrambled over to her right, where she earlier dropped her revolver when tackled by the chroma. As soon as she got her hand on it she fired at the Lephantis' arms to help Dmitri disarm it.

As gravity seemed to re-establish itself, Hayden, still clinging onto the right head for dear life, had used his weight to drag the Glaive's blade along the monsters neck, bringing it to the ground with him.
"You're just guilty as me." were the last thing the screeching head of Dixon would hear before a blade cracked it's skull in two, silencing it.

Dimitri and Sereena would, after multiple bullets and many impacts, sever the massive blade from the wielder, sending the head of Mezmer screeching and trashing around. Meanwhile, the left head had stopped bloating, and was growing yet another bubble of black sludge.

--- Mindscape ---
Suddenly, the floor beneath Edge dissapeared, and he, along with the kingdom of ice, fell down the white abyss. Little did he know, he was about to wake up.

Mimas would be able to peer into the real world again, the voice but a whisper now "Do not dissapoint us again, or you will perish."

Sereena took a few steps away from the trashing head. In the corner of her eye she noted the bubble of black sludge. "Don't let it repeat what it did earlier!" Zek chimmed inside her mind.

"Dmitri! Chroma incoming!" She quickly shouted to the Rhino as she shot a bullet at the bubble. Now to not get nearly murdered and it should be good.

Dmitri quickly grabbed the blade by the cut off stump, growling as he began to lift it as best as his strength allowed him before starting to spin around like he was about to throw a shotput...except that shotput was a large scythe like blade and Dmitri was aiming it right at Lephantis's sycthe head to cut it off!

Suddenly, the floor beneath Edge dissapeared, and he, along with the kingdom of ice, fell down the white abyss. Little did he know, he was about to wake up.

He grunts, opening his eyes to meet only white light and a disturbing detail, he feels a lot, a lot more than he should if things had returned to normal.

Worse he feels like he is covered by something while another thing I'd tickling at his right arm.

"If that is another joke of the old coot !" He says as he gets up taking away the white blanket that covered his vision, what he discovers is a lot more puzzling than what he expected.

A man, the mad scientist, arms high up in the air with tools in his hands and a close to terrified look in his face, is seated right next to him. "Probably the source of those tickles." A rapid thought crosses his mind, as he realizes that he is not in his body but in his hosts place, Where is he? Not his type to die, neither to let anyone grab control over himself."

He turns his face to Alad, disdain in his green shining eyes. "Hey, crazy man. Tell me what you did to this body, and do not forget any details..." The opening in the arm closes as the hand spikes, taking a more claw-like appearance. " so I won't have to explain to the kid why I had to rip the answers out of you." the claws slide on each other, the cristalline resonance is clear, any detail was vital, both for the scientist survival and to the monster's eyes.

The beast does not say a word, he sees her, again, accompanied by others, he does not care for them, all he wants is her.

Snatch her and the pray will show up, kill her and he will fight to kill.

Sereena's bullet would be on point and tear the black bubble, having another beast fall to the ground though this one is different.

What falls to the ground has four arms, and it's skin is armored this time, compared to the first Chroma it's clear that this one will not fall in one attack.

He stomps the ground with his arms, now he is what he knows, he can move as he wishes in the way he wants. Catch the girl, throw the others away, those are his intentions.

He roars and hurls himself to the girl and the massive man.

Sereena would hear Zek speak in a rather colourful language in the back of her head. He was less than pleased at this four armed monstrosity. She raised her arm to fire a few shots at it, but in her hurry with much less accuracy than before. One thing she barely registered was that Zek was forcing her infected arm into a clenched fist for his own trick, although he wasn't entire certain on the repecussions of it.

"Rhino! The Chroma got a lotta bigger!" Zek shouted at the massiva man.
