New Teplo Syandana has REALLY muddy textures!

In its current iteration, the Teplo Syandana is really beautiful, but some of the textures are MUCH, MUCH muddier than they are supposed to be!

Could you please up the Resolution on them just a little bit? Please, DE? Pretty please with a cherry on top?

Must be compression issues.

Again, it seriously surprises (or shouldn't?) me how these issues get past the QA team when it comes to A&A. It's not as if they're hard to notice. I doubt Vauban Prime's syandana has been fixed either... Despite it being bugged since release.

Its physics are bugged. Right side tends to float up and bulge out like it has its own gravity while left side does not do the same. Very awkward movement as such. Equinox had some intense twitching physics bugs for a few months too. It seems those issues are harder to fix for DE than this here texture issue though.

Wow, thanks for the warning.

I really wanted to buy this Syandana and all the Mirage stuff, but I only had enough money on Steam that I'd have to drop one. Thanks for making the decision easier.

Eh, no doubt they'll be fixed. Looks badass apart from that... Minus the seemingly paper thin floaty pieces.

What is with these Tennogen syandanas though? Most of them have paper thin wavy bits, so from the side they go practically invisible as they have little-to-no thickness at all. It's terribad.

Yep, as below :/

It also seems to get sucked into the hips of some Warframe's.

I think it's the physics -- I've noticed my Mortos Binds behave similarly, and if they spin enough they loose one of the 3 dimensions effectively.

Weird stuff, I know.

Maybe but even in the preview for said syandanas on Steam they're thin too. Something tells me it's intentional but an unfortunate oversight. I'd really wish it would be sorted out though because it doesn't look right and makes me feel as if I'm running around with tracing paper on my back.

Honestly, on this one it seems at least intentional that those parts are paper thin. They might actually be paper, the whole Syandana's theme is remembering fallen Tenno.

So I'll properly love it when the textures get fixed.

Hmm good point. Thought it was more like cloth.

It's done mostly to stay within the engine's limits. Making the cloth thicker might need some areas to sacrifice detail to stay under the polygon limit.

But then we've got other syandanas (both DE & TG) which are also slightly thick with high quality and decent detail.

I say 'mostly' and 'might'. The Teplo is around 7.1k triangles (the limit is 7.5k), 400 wouldn't be enough to properly make the cloth thick.

Well, everyone, a mod moved this thread to the BUGS subforum, and I quite frankly do not know why. This low quality texture isn't a bug, it's a design issue.

Think in this case it's a bug because it's not meant to be poor in quality.

I hope so. I asked Taylor ('cause he's an awesome guy to my experience) if he can tell me if this is considered a bug now or some mod just moved it without much consideration. Currently waiting for an answer. c:

Could be for tracking purposes, as the bug sections are monitored more closely.

Forwarding over from Reddit:

Hey guys!

Thanks for addressing this, I'll be working on trying to fix this. I'll see if I can increase the resolution on the UV map some more.  It's really hard to gauge what it'll look like in the game after it gets compressed down to 1k. Not sure on when it would be implemented into the game though.

Welp, I'm embarassed now. ;~;

Sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy for that one!

And trunks said it right, no denying the 'awesome' part for you at least!

Updates to the thread though!

  • It's stayin' in the Bug forum because it's unintended, which is as much of a confirmation as we could ever have wished.

  • Someone already posted something from the creator, FrellingHazmot by now, and there's another update from him on the Warframe Subreddit:
Quote

It will probably take a couple weeks for it to get fixed and updated into the game. I'm still waiting for a response from DE so you'll just have to hang tight.

In conclusion, good news all around!
