can someone explain the Glaxion inconsistencies

So a clanmate got a Glaxion Riven Mod (no this thread is not about Riven Mods) and it got us talking about the Glaxion.
I remember building it, maxing it, and selling it.

I thought it was fun to use, but that's pretty much it, so I sold it to make space for more mastery fodder :P.

But I feel like rebuilding it and giving it a second chance, if not for end-game, at least for Sh*tz and Gigglez.

I checked the codex entry and asked my clanmate.. "250 base damage is not bad right?"
and he wondered. "250? I'm pretty sure it only does about 10/sec"

 

so here is the codex entry, note that is says 250:

so is there anyone who can explain to me which is which?
is it 10? is it 250? is it neither

It's the same damage value.

1st pic:

250 (Cold Dam) x 60 (secs) x 1.0 (fire rate = round/sec)= 15,000 DPS DPM

2nd pic:

12.5 (Cold Dam) x 60 (secs) x 20 (rounds/sec) = 15,000 DPS DPM

addition: The only difference is that it drain your ammo MUCH faster.

wouldnt 250 * 60 seconds be 15.000 DPM?

Yes, you're right. It is damage per minute.

The key point to note for the Glaxion is that it's a status cold weapon which translate to hidden DPS killing effectiveness.

Combine Cold + Toxin = Viral with high status which translate to guarantee Half health ---> half time to kill ---> effectively 2x DPS

Be advised that the Glaxion is and has been bugged for over a year. The beam fired by the weapon doesn't actually hit the center of the crosshair, making it difficult to aim with precision. Many players have reported this bug (myself included) but has not been fixed.

It's a UI bug for I think all Beam weapons, outside of having them actually equipped in the Arsenal,
they have their Fire Rate set to 1 and their base damage adjusted accordingly to maintain the same DPS.

definitively bugged

my arsenal says that glaxion has 250 cold damage with 1.0 fire rate

but when i equip it, shows it have 12.5 cold with 20.0 fire rate

 

maybe they tried to buff glaxion by reducing it's ammo consumption, but forgot to change the weapon stats?

wouldn't aiming center mass solve this?
unless you're going for Headshots ofcourse

If you use it against level 20 enemies then yes, probably. But the Glaxion is not a particularly strong weapon so you'll eventually want to hit weakspots if you expect to kill anything and save ammunition. The bug makes that task harder or almost impossible depending on how far away your target is. The beam isn't simply misaligned, it literally dances around the center point following an unpredictable circular pattern. That doesn't mean the weapon is completely broken but I find it incredibly annoying to use.
