What if we had a sniper which had pitiful damage and with most normal crit chance mods can only reach around 25%. But it had a ridiculously high multiplier so that when it does crit it does immense damage and when it doesn't it has almost no effect.

Then you'd have a weapon nobody uses because literally every other choice is... ya know... reliable.

similar put it would be single shot and the multiplier would be high enough that if you did crit, you would one-shot very high-level targets ( the crit chance could definitely vary from 25 I just threw hat out there)

Don't forget that Riven mods are a thing now, so you have to account for someone slapping an absurd crit chance mod on there.

That is an excellent point and insta killing everything with half of your shots would be OP but rivens on weapons like the soma can also be super OP

oh, so a gun that fires rng bullets that only do damage when they feel like it? yeah, I feel like this wouldn't work when I could just use literally any other rifle and  get consistent damage

 The majority of the guns in this game can be outclassed in every way by the top few weapons

this is true, however, a gun that deals damage based on rng would never sit well with the community

Isn't that the whole principle of critical damage

That goes against the concept of Snipers, doesn't it. I wouldn't use it personally-Snipers don't have enough ammo or fire-rate to make use of that gimmick.

yes, however you're weapon idea is for a gun that is all but useless in terms of regular damage except when it crits, and it has a low crit chance. so you can't even build it for crit, and you can't rely on it for decent damage normally making it worthless as a weapon, you'd probably get better use by beating the enemy with it

Sure give me a weapon that has a massive crit modifier and next to no crit chance. I'll just put on my arcane avenger set and/or cat if I ever want to use it. Nukor is the perfect example.
