Abbados222
I know this isn't any of my business but after seeing a friend of mine completely changing due to addiction I thought I should point it out. Many people of the community love warframe and spend much time playing this game. However, some people take it to the extreme. Yesterday I talked to my good friend and I realized that he is completely addicted to this game. Playing it 8 hours a day 7 times a week not doing anything else. His life is a mess and he doesn't have a social life anymore because he cut out everyone of his friends (except me). He doesnt go out anymore and well he doesnt care about anything anymore. He just lives for the game. I tried to help him and in the process I took the pc from him. He screamed at me and tried to hit me. I never saw him like this. I talked to him and told him that he is addicted and that he should stop. He didn't want to hear it and said that he is fine like always (although he tried to hit me) This isn't the games fault but all I want to say to you guys is that warframe is just a game. I want to warn you. There is absolutely no reason to waste your life away on a game. I know not everyone plays this game religiously 9 hours or more daily 7 days a week and it is okay to play the game once in while. What is not okay is, when people sacrifice their own social and professional lives just to play this game. Thinking that nothing matters anymore. Just ask yourself this, if you are one of those people who play this game way to much and excessively: At the end of the day what did you accomplish by playing a game 8 hours a day 7 times a week? Did it improve your live in any way? Did you learn something new that could help you in real life? Did it help you achieve your dream? All I want to say is, think about your own lives once in a while. Turn the game off once in a while. Read a book or go out. Have fun with friends. Do something good for yourself. I went with my friend to a relative of mine who is a psychiatrist. Although he didn't want to (who wants to anyway) I still convinced him. I hope he can help him somehow. If the friend is in the condition he says they should seek medical attention asap. Videogame/lottery/gambling addiction is a serious matter. Very serious. And because of that it should be treated to avoid unfortunate incidents from happening.

It's not always strictly about mental illness, being mentaly disturbed, troubled, addicted, basically any anomalies, they could help

Yes, but extreme cases can be a problem, hence why he should seek medical attention from a specialist. I have seen things like that happen around me when it comes to videogame/gambling addiction. It could go very very wrong very very fast.

Pretty sure you meant "your friend should see one" instead. :) Edited February 8, 2017 by Azrael

Dark5eiD
No offense, but, if you were to play this game 8-9 hrs a day you would be done all of the content and twidling your thumbs in a few weeks or a month waiting for new quest, weapons, frames or weekend events. what the hell is he doing ? scowering trade tab for 7 hrs a day ? Airwolfen
8hrs each day is not excessively much at least. its not like my 8 hours at work take up my whole day so that line I would not call a good representation of when someone is addicted. Just saying.
ultragen
Being frustrated when not playing and getting angry when you are restricted from playing is textbook for addiction. There are even specialized clinics in my country for this kinds of addictions that provide support both to the "addicted" and their families on how to support them. I almost got divorced back in my Lineage 2 days. And that was when I realized that a game is a game and we should treat it like a game and since then, family comes first... If you enjoy a game, by all means play the heck out of it, but not in the expense of your own life... There is no "undo" or "respawn" there... Well, not everyone played as efficient as possible, with meta setup, boosters. It can also be RNG not on your side. Chatting, trading, farming, fashion-framing and min-maxing also takes time. @Abbados222 I hope that the Hema research cost is a wakeup call for your friend and everyone else, as it did for me. That people shouldn't spend too much time in Warframe. Take some breaks away from the game. It shouldn't take up most of your life..
