Well, he doesn't use it as a weapon in the first place, it's a void magic thurible which he uses to... void magic himself some buffs.

 

That said, when I originally saw it I was hoping it would be a thurible themed flail mace.

Thurible: A symbolic incense burner that is swung from side to side rhythmically during rituals to purify the air before the practitioner. It represents the Flail, which in religious circles was quite often used for 'purifying' the practitioner's own body by self-harming, literally beating yourself to cause pain so that you were punishing yourself for your own sins and could therefore become more pure.

Harrow, the monastic, the ritualist. Has a thurible. It's not meant as a weapon, it's a tool for his powers.
