How Come The More I Read, The More I Hate?

I'm not an old player. I'm not a new one also. I'm only 650+ hours into the game and have been a member for four months (July). I admit I'm not perfect, I spammed nova molecular prime more than once, I trash talk trash talkers, and I even have a warning point.

 

But the thing is, the more I get involved with this game, I find myself not only losing interest, but disliking DE in general. Ha, Rebecca will probably give me another warning point and lock this thread, just like what they do with any thread that threatens to ruin DE's image with the truth.

 

I joined in U8. Yep, double checked it, I joined July 5, 2013 so it was Update 8.3 at the time. Now I don't have any experience in coding, or game design or whatnot, but I had experience in gaming. Being born in the early 80's, I've been playing games ever since some of the people here were still egg cells.

 

My initial reaction was like that a kid with wide-eyes opened while looking at the biggest Christmas toy gift ever. An MMORPG that was a third person shooter with parkour and modifications. I had just finished Tombraider 2013 at the time and the novelty of customization was still fresh in my mind. After installation, I sat down, played, and the next thing I knew, it was already noon, the next day.

 

But even in that short span of four months, having had interactions with players, gaining friends, posting in the forums, inviting real-life friends to play even before the "Recruit Ninja" thingy, I find myself regressing. My only achievement that I can brag about is that I have never failed to login daily for the four months that I've been a member. FOUR MONTHS OF DAILY LOGINS. I can't remember how many times I've sold Banshee, Glaive and Gorgon BP's. But still, every login, everyday, was more tedious and forced. Ha, for today, I just logged in for my rewards, looked at any possible changes in the market, checked my foundry, then logged back out.

 

I've lost friends. My fellow newbies have quit. My mentors, the people who were kind enough to tank the newbie me have quit. People who I've spent hours with chatting and going to the void have quit. In real life, in my circle of friends, I'm the only one left playing WF as my real-life friends have also quit. I am now alone in the game. Hell, I could probably replace that over-sized loot bag since I'm so alone.

 

A moderator has quit (https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/110391-1500-hours-10-months-an-belated-open-letter-of-resignation/), because DE itself would not listen to an employee. My real-life friends have quit, since players never get any attention at all, even if you're in DC. We're paying customers, and yet the simplest tickets take 3-5 days for a reply, much less resolution. My in-game friends have quit, due to the same reasons, and the fact that upon reaching rank 7-8 gives you nothing much to look for afterwards. It's just a cosmetic number on your profile pic that only newbies look up to.

 

And the frustrations. They said Frost Prime was going to be exclusive, well it's in my inventory now! They said snipertron was obsolete and removed it from the game, but now I've even forma-ed the Vandal version. They said they were finally going to replace that farting golem, and what did we get? A new boss that needed grinding for nav coordinates, to grind for Golem nav coordiantes, to access the new boss and grind for the new frame. A frame, that IMO, would faint from a finger flick from Rhino.

And now, after having said all that, I simply go back to lurk in my little corner and continue my fan-fiction novel (https://forums.warframe.com/index.php?/topic/127071-light-novel-warframe-origins-the-orokin-cycle-weekly-updates-chapters-1-6-is-up-cycle-finale-ch7-is-underway/) for the sake of my small remaining number of friends. I expect another warning point for telling the truth, that's how it rolls here anyways. If you guys find that I don't reply to any of your comments, you already know what's up.

 

As a parting sentiment, I love Lotus, I personally have a whole fanfic novel about her, but it seems I'll be missing her.

You are currently over emotional, and you're clearly baiting DE. Getting locked and banned proves nothing.

More in depth response:

-People get bored of things. The fact that your friends left has nothing to do with DE.

-Cedric got too invested and couldn't be impartial. That's why he left.

-Frost Prime: True, but a ferociously bad idea I'm glad they reversed. If it had been the whole frame it could have made sense, but not the blueprint alone. You did technically get an exclusive head start.

-Snipertron: It was given as a last chance because the community asked and DE listened.

-The Jupiter Golem is being replaced by Alad V. You don't pay attention well do you?

-Super easy to farm navs. Seriously, try looking at it from a newby point of view. By the time they are ready to face Lephantis they have hundreds of the things.

-So what if Nekros isn't a tank? He's fun. You're just looking for whine material.

-First, DE is Canadian and not subject to American fraud laws, and second you have literally no case.

Community mods are people from the community. They don't get paid, and they do things out of their free time.

You moan about support, yet what other game has a team that dedicated?

The level of interaction of the Devs with the community is above and beyond what I have experienced in any other game. We get weekly updates, each making the game better, and adding more. 

Sure there have been things that haven't been as good as they could have been, but that is what beta is about, trying crazy stuff and seeing if it works or not.

 

And all of this from a F2P game. You can get EVERY non-cosmetic-only item in this game without coughing up a single cent. 

 

I could rant on for days about how you are wrong but I honestly can't be bothered. Cry more and don't let the door hit you on your way out.

My mistake, Ced was not paid. And that makes it worse. A volunteer helps out the company and that's what you do the person. You work him to the bone for free, but you don't listen. Yes, he volunteered, but at least have the decency to listen to the guy, and not tell him "you don't have the experience".

Everything you are saying has been said many times already, and more eloquently. As such, not many people are going to pay much attention to your steam blowing.

Well DE simply has no vision for how they wanna ensure interesting late game content... so despite saying they don't want to rely on RNG and Grind they simply turn those 2 things up again and again and call it a day.

And especially what you said about friends quitting: Thats the biggest problem DE will have to deal with if more and more people quit because they get sick of the game only being a glorified RNG that DE tries to dress up differently but change nothing underneath the hood, the more likely it is that people in that same circle of friends will quit. I'm pretty much in the same boat, my good gaming buddy i started WF with quit a while ago and my best buddies I met in the game have also quit WF...

So basically I'm just still messing around a little but will go into hibernation soon too and maybe check back for big updates and events to see if DE finally managed to make WF more than a glorified slot machine.

To be fair in the recruiting chat as well as in terms of drop chances, the Orokin Derelict content is very easy to access

Otherwise, daring a moderator is unwise, even in ArenaNet forums they can close your thread within a day.

And to say we don't get any attention at all as well isn't necessarily true because they sort of listen to our brainstorming ideas (I guess)

BUT I do think enough people have complained about the speed of customer service for me to believe it needs to be more efficient

I kinda agree on Nekros, It was a lot of buildup with not much reward. And I agree you have every right to vent. But it's Open Beta. Beta. Its not done. They are still working through glitches, bugs, adding new content, They stress quite often in the live streams that this stuff is a test. Be calm and wait it out. I've been playing this game since April. And I can say that I still have stuff to do, and probably will for quite some time. Sure the game is not perfect. Its still in beta. So just relax man. One last thing, 650 hours is 27 and a half days. solid. not just days, nights to. So you have literally played for almost a month solid. No wonder your getting bored. Find some over game to play every once in a while or any game will get boring.

But they lied about drop rates, and they hid all the evidence. They don't communicate with playerbase about major changes they are going to implement, armor changes is the first time. Stamina nerf came out of nowhere and nobody was complaining about it. They are very detached from playerbase and have no idea what we need in this game.

So you are going to sue because items that you used to hold dear are now obsolete/non-exclusive from what they were before?  That seems kinda silly.  Also, friends in online games come and go, that's part of the MMO genre.  The moderator quitting?  Sh** happens, and I'm sure he's over it so you should be too.  I'd consider going back to solo gaming if you can't handle any of these facts because these things are true in nearly all MMOs.

Really all I can take away from your post is that you're dissatisfied with the way DE has operated over the past few months. Sure, there were lots of mixed messages. The game is still going through radical design changes. Am I myself disappointed with some of what they've done? You bet. But that doesn't mean I haven't enjoyed the game. How many hours have you put in? If it's over 200, I'd say you got a lot out of the game, and that you clearly enjoyed it... otherwise why would you have played it so much?

 

Trust me when I say that DE appreciates your feedback.

No where else to go but between those two games. Maybe your just into overly complicated nonsensical games like WoW where its mostly. If Steve has wrong information about HIS game things are much more worse than I thought. Also the void drop rate debacle, they said they CHECKED it before it was datamined. I don't know what it looks like in code but how does 12.67% gets mixed with 0.67%. It's either lying or gross incompetence.

What other team? How about Path of Exile? How about Kojima productions? How about Projekt Red? I've been playing since the 80's and I know my teams.

 

Level of interaction? How about they replace twitch with something like omegle or skype? How do we even know that those questions they ask are from real players? And besides, how do they filter questions?

 

Being "BETA" is just a marketing scheme. Read up. "Beta" yet hauling in moolah from players? Product testing should be a cost, not a profit center.

 

You know well as much as I do that not all non-cosmetic-only item in this game can be acquired without paying up. Just look at your badge.

to be fair, had the data miners not found the data and shared it, DE would not have done anything and we would likely still have abysmally low rates even now.

 

the difference between what they actually put out and what they said they put out was way too different to be a mistake.

It may be "his" game but nobody can know every line of code in the game. Datamining is a bigger, harder deal than you seem to think it is. It took all the dedicated dataminers on Reddit to find the incorrect entry. Typos happen. It was a new guy apparently. *Shrugs*

I guess I'm more willing to accept things as a mistake then some, but I've never been much of a conspiracy theorist.
