SECURATYYY
We really need more shield mods. Specifically a damage reduction mod, but more would be nice.
(PSN)griddler420
The difference between DE saying they’d like to implement a plethora of snazzy ideas and then going on to release half baked, broken and totally disconnected systems along side each other is why we don’t have most things showcased over the last few years. They can’t pull it off. But hey the people love watching a devstream with countless anime references.....
trst
I don't see a way Shield gating could be added that wouldn't be overpowered, detrimental to several frames/builds, or worthless. There are few things that can genuinely one-shot us all of which are somewhat infrequent and only exist in certain missions. And in the case of some frames/builds these sources are often some of the only things that are threatening to them. A sufficiently useful shield gating system could just make these enemies near pointless and certain frames more unkillable. Any frame or build that relies on taking damage would have to eat through their gating every time which could not only slow things down but lead to more issues should it prevent important abilities from coming up in time. Like being unable to get the energy for a defensive ability in time leading to a defense objective dying. Then if it was added as a modding option it would have to compete with ability mods and defensive ones like Adaptation or Quick Thinking. Which if it isn't as or more powerful then these mods then they just rot like so many other mods that aren't worth slotting. Personally I don't think we need shield gating but just more modding options for shields in general that either make shields themselves more powerful or that incentivize keeping your shields up. Something like dodge equal to remaining shields, bonus stats while shields are up/full, or something like damage resist on shields relative to remaining energy. As it stands all we really have is Adaptation which interacts with health and thus armor anyways, making Adaptation + HP better than with shields. Assuming proper mods are used only Grenades, Bombards, Ancients, sniper units (including Nullifiers), and any enemy of sufficiently high level can truly one-shot (not counting bosses). Unless I'm forgetting something here all other cases people might call a "one-shot" are actually several hits landing at once. Which make gating pointless if it isn't literally like Hildryn's but her type of gating on all frames, passive or moddable, would be overpowered or detrimental to builds. You can use invisible frames but till level 300 inaros should survive... Edited December 6, 2019 by bibmobello
