MerelyARumor
The first Prime was Excalibur Prime, so no, Primes didn't use to show that you knew how to play the game. so they showed that u have alot of money to waste lol Edited May 30, 2014 by MerelyARumor
Arxiun
I like them because they're a way of showing that you have hit the "endgame". Also, they are a nice collector's item, and may (crossing fingers) get a slight buff like Rhino Prime in the future.
(PSN)nDVSTRY-
I'm attatched to my rhino prime with his gold toy winder on his back and phanny packs on his his hips. did i forget that he's packin something long for nova and ember?
Wiegraf
They're trophies, in a way. Something to show off. They're functionally the same (except for an energy fill in the Void and different base polarities) as their base version so really, they come down to the same as owning a gold-trimmed statuette that you can wear. TennoSimons
Excalibur and Rhino Prime have better stats than their counter parts. Ember Prime is fscking beautiful. I don't think that Excalibur Prime does have better stats... at least not anymore. I believe that the wiki used to state that Excalibur Prime had faster shield regen rates, but it doesn't say that anymore. If anyone can confirm whether Excal Prime has (or ever had, at some point) better stats than Vanilla Excalibr, please let me know about it! OniDax
I like my Excalibur Prime because it's gold laced. And I think it looks better than the regular one. I've got all the Primes and I think they all look better than the regular counterparts. So there. That's my obsession with them.

Legion-Shields
It's not exactly like there a big improvement over the originals, other than rhion Prime they offer nothing but a fancy looking skin which should just be available in the market You are already aware of the differences between primes and their stock counterparts, so why did you bother asking? (PSN)luminousvoid26
I'm the opposite. I loathe the prime variants. I find gold gaudy and thoroughly unattractive on several levels. I got a 'Calibur Prime I have to FORCE myself to level from time to time and can only deal with it for an hour, tops before I swap out. Now were there options for the primes to alter that gold color to silver, chrome, platinum or onyx, i'd be all over them. They just don't go with my chosen color scheme of Black & Red. I do wish we could change the gold at least to something like you are saying.

ASilverblade
There are a few reasons but they all come down to one thing; Preference. Whether you like the design, the gold colour, or even (if you're into the lore) the fact you own something made from and based on Orokin design. I suppose all three fit under one category: Bling.
