What Is Endgame?

Well, as described, the controlling clan gets to select enemies involved in their tower defenses, so it's most-likely that there will be many powerful and crazy hires done on their behalf. Therefore, if you want insanely powerful enemies from the moment you set foot in a mission, finding the clan that's poured the most into their tower defense will be the way to go.

Where did you see/hear this?

I've heard that there could be allies like G3 based on a clans Faction standing, but not that the clan is selecting/contributing resources into defense. Very different.

Player-created defenses would be great, but that seems like wishful over-reading.

Endgame is what you do when you are finished with whatever progression a game has. With RPGs its pretty simple, what is there to do when you hit the level cap? With this game its a little more complex because your progression is separate for weapons, mods, warframes and mastery rank. It seems like the original intent was for there to be so many things you can upgrade and progress, with a steady enough flow of new content, that you never actually hit this cap. It doesn't really work because it relies on the assumption that people will be interested in every single upgradable item in the game, and underestimates the speed at which veteran players are able to unlock/upgrade everything.

If you aren't a completionist, the game basically ends when you max your favorite equipment, because at that point you become so powerful that you faceroll everything in the game, and there is no challenge left. What worries me is that people seem to think Endgame is some kind of gimmick that tricks you into playing the same content over and over again. Yeah, a big part of Endgame is to provide motivation to keep playing, but it also has to bring something new or more challenging to the table. Hence the "end" part. If there is nothing to challenge you once you max all your stuff, there is no endgame.

Badlands are currently tied to planets on the Solar map it seems, which is worrisome because that prevents them from being real endgame. If you can faceroll Pluto like its nothing, you will also faceroll Badlands Pluto like its nothing. So it doesn't really provide anything to do for "high level" players, just adds more motivation to run the same missions that you ran to get you to where you are. Imagine if WoW Endgame was "ok now go back and repeat quests you've already completed." That's what Badlands is in terms of Endgame. Its a great social feature but doesn't address the problem at all. Focus will be the same. It makes getting mastery rank up more interesting, but without harder content to play once you have it maxed and are EVEN MORE powerful, its pointless in terms of Endgame. Unless Proxy wars will be completely unplayable without maxed, potato'd, and forma'd weapons, warframes, and mods it will fail as sufficient Endgame as well.

TLDR: If you can do it before you max, potato and forma your gear than it cannot be Endgame.

Im not a fan of the term "endgame" because it is defined as features that create infinite replayability and therefore an end, which is something that cannot be done.  "Endgame" systems are are simply added dynamics that increase a games depth.  These systems can never create an end, but only add and strengthen the core.  These systems increase the lifetime of a game but no matter how interesting they are they will wear thin eventually.  Once you have added an "endgame" system you will have to add another and another if you want to keep your game healthy.  To call any system endgame is misleading because it will never be the end all.

reaching "endgame" takes ages.

You have large number of frames to level, even greater number of weapons to obtain and level up. Grind.

The end game is having fun killing, shooting and wiping hordes of enemies.

You make it sound more like another "plz add more pvp" thread - but in a disguise.
