So how impossible does map generation have to get before your immersion breaks?

Little to no tilesets are meant to connect to others... You'll find this in mostly any map that takes place in the exterior, Corpus outpost being the best example.

It's random with few connectors so, you can't expect it to be perfect from every aspect.

Y'know that one Corpus ship tile that has double doors on both ends and double stairs that dip down and meet each other in the middle? I had one run where I ran through that same tile back-to-back four times.

Some of the Logic for Exteriors are a bit wonky. 

Been trying to get the Kuria and I was doing the Grineer settlement ones.  took me 10 missions to get 8-4, then 5 missions in a row with that tile.  and 10 more missions to get 9-1, and it appeared twice in a single mission.  But yea some of the logic when it deals with Exteriors are rather suspect.

I have a new appreciation for rare tiles that i took for granted.

surprised nobody has mentioned Amnesia yet...

it is a bit faulty, and some new rooms would be nice. personally I'd like to see idle enemies actually doing stuff other than patrolling. conversing, fixing machines, using consoles etc. it would make it feel less like a combat training scenario and more like we're infiltrating an actual compound populated by real AI, not mindless drones.

Ive had that happen to me alot of times, especially corpus tileset.

 

Though I've had it once in the void i had to take 3 elevators in a row. Enter elevator, goes down, see an elevator as i exit elevator, enter new elevator, goes down again, see another elevator.

I started questioning myself at that point was i just in an endless loop.

You mean the Amnesia survival horror series?

If so, then those rooms are supposed to be illogical, because it's a survival horror game. It's explicitly supernatural
