Volt Rework Concept

Passive: Shock Resonance Volt restores 3 energy and 10 Shield on basic attacks.

#1 Shock Charge:

Volt zap targets with electricity chaining to nearby targets. Volt can charge this ability to increase its damage but channel that shock in a single beam of electricity damage increased by 115% - 180% based on charge.

#2 Magnifier Shield:

Volt places a shield in target area as usual. Shooting the charged Shock Beam through the shield disperses the ray making it hit a wider radius.

#3 Zap Boost

Volt detonates dealing minor damage and knocking nearby enemies off their feet (heavy targets have a 40% Knockdown chance). After the blast Volt is energized with increased movement speed and attack rate. Running through Magnifier Shield under the effects of Zap Boost occurs this small blast but does not extend Zap Boots's duration. Volt can charge Shock Charge while moving and under the influence of Zap Boost.

#4 Thunder Coat

Volt Covers himself with electricity, Gaining 30/35/40% Reduced Damage and 50/75/100% Power Strength lasting 15 seconds. During this time thunder blasts emit from Volt's armor on cast and every third second after dealing 50% of Shock Charge's full damage charge. Cost: 150 Energy.

I know... I'm just hoping that these subtle changes they have in mind or not final because it's crap. He deserves so much more than that.

I disagree.

Also you can't use the megathread tag, and there's nothing pc or other platform specific.

That's cool.

Volt has always been a solid frame with exception of his 4 imo. It seems like they are addressing most of his sore spots to me but differing opinions will vary.

I guess we'll all have better insights after we get to play with the changes they implemented.

You don't know they are crap yet, wait for it to actually be released before you start the complaint threads.

And yet here we are on several threads pleading DE to rethink their rework proposition.

Loved the passive idea. Might need a little tweak, but it is indded quite good along with speed and melees.

And there are also people who likes the rework, Volt is so versatile that many people played him differently. No matter what the changes, it won't pleases everyone.

Rather premature, at this point, in my opinion.

You can't give relevant feedback on the re-work until you've actually played it as some of the stuff shown were WIPs.

...Go figure.

Oh boy! ohboy!

Speed getting a Gate instance to support other frames! New Shields! Riot Shield! Updated Overload!

No, really... all I see is...

A undenyable buff that guarantees other frames an option to stay ahead of Volt.
A limited Shield Count (A nerf to Volt's late gameplay survivability)
A gimmick that kills Zenurik.
More power requirements for ult, which will render it as useless as it was before.

agree with everything here except for the last. less power requirements that rely on enemies being bunched up which will ultimately give volt faction in balence. bad idea for a supposed starter frame......

the only way i see right now of fixing volt is

  1. this read this idea

Okay, bad idea time:

What if lightning damage bypasses 1/2 of both shields and armor?

Think about it.  It smacks of a certain realism, what with the way a strong enough charge overcomes resistance.  Toxin bypasses shields totally.  Radiation totally bypasses armor.  This brings an evil to the element that may help it maintain value, even granting something like-but-not scaling.

This could allow a Volt rework to do damage.  When was the last time you thought of Volt as a damage dealer?  Better still, it adds synergies with other damage effects and 'Frames.  If you can weaken things through their defenses...

That sounds like tactical game-play to me, and it brings both schools of thought to a meeting point.

Oh God!  I just realized that this idea would pair beautifully with the concept of shield gating!  We would have relevance to high-shield builds on 'Frames like Volt with gating, and this mitigation bypass could prevent any quibbles about "OP warframe shielding".

2. give volt an increase to sprint speed and have speed make afterimages of volt which enemies target instead of volt

3. drastically increase or remove the shield limit

4.  animation overhaul and lightning strikes from the sky which stun enemies and draws aggro towards them (like make them move to stunned enemies).

anything else feel free to add. ;-)

Whaaaat?

It's amazing. Volt is already really good. He doesn't need to be some kind of lightning god. I like him how he is, and the upcoming rework makes him amazing at his roles. No longer will people complain that Shield is too static, or Speed doesn't do enough, or Overload is borderline useless at high levels. It's perfect.

i'd say near perfect, just add some extra QoL changes.

VOLT GETS A RIOT SHIELD WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?

HYPEHYPEHYPE

I actually only learn about the Riot shield after I made this post. Didn't watch Devstream 73 before this were they talk about it, only 72. I must say I'd be very contented with the Riot Shield mechanic you take so much agro from running its great I also believe his passive is one of the more useful ones depending on how much dmg it is. I'm only concerned with his damage coming from shock now, it's his only direct damaging ability outside his ultimate one (4) and it's damage is sht at higher levels.
