Exalted blade efficiency glitch?!?

Question

By the looks of things the efficiency of exalted blade (energy per second) is affected by duration. The higher your duration the less energy per second is used. This doesn't seem right.

When did they change this and why? Is it even supposed to be like this? 

 

This change or bug. Which ever it maybe meaning that fleeting is of no use on Excalibur if you want to use his exalted blade build since taking away the duration will decrease the efficiency but the increased efficiency that comes with the removed duration on fleeting will overall, make no change to the energy drain.

Just wondering if this is a bug or not since I had no idea this was in the game.

nah it is normal, energy drain abilities are also affected by the duration mods

Yeah, this is true. Something to note though, there's a hard cap on minimum drain, so you won't need much duration along with max efficiency to reach that cap. Most toggled abilities only need around 130% duration along with 175% efficiency to be capped.

it's 100% duration with 175% efficiency

  • Duration Mods now have an effect on toggled Abilities.
    • For example: Mods that added 100% duration will make a 10 Energy drain become a 5 Energy drain.

 

Final cost of a sustained ability per second is

BaseCost * (2-PowerEfficiency) / PowerDuration

...with a minumum bound of BaseCast * 0.25

This change was actually a very game-changing buff for certain builds that focused more on duration builds for abilities that weren't toggleable. Players would tend not to use them because they still drained energy at their normal rate; now you can still have a sort of efficiency build for toggled abilities, giving players more room and freedom to use these abilities that can drain all of your energy if you're not careful.

It makes it very easy to reach the cap on these abilities too now that two different types of mods now work on them.

It's been like that since 17.5... made turning my Ember Prime's World on Fire into a raging inferno much easier, to me.

That said, duration-based abilities would, of course, also take advantage of those mods to become even more handy.
