0 Insizer
What are you looking for in terms of a warframe? Stealth, power, CC, defense? Edit: If you are looking for stealth (and possibly damage?) then go Ivara, she's got stealth in spades. I personally don't like her as I view her kit as 3/4 done and needing some basic QoL changes... but that is my opinion. If you want CC then Hydroid is for you. Every single one of Hydroid's abilities provides some form of crowd control. His augment mods are pretty good as well. He is straightforward and easy to mod as well. Again, I'm highly biased against Ivara so take my words with a grain of salt. Edited September 3, 2016 by Insizer added more input
0 MrM1
I would choose Ivara. She is harder to get but she is a good Stealth and Solo Frame.
0 Dod-Regnbue
They are both entirely Seperate Warframes, that do entirely different things. Having played them both, I prefer Ivara, but that is just me. All i can suggest is watch game play videos on them both and make YOUR choice from there. It may also be worth going onto the Warframe Site and looking at an overview of the frames and their abilities. This will help in giving you a head start on how you wish to mod your frame. Good luck, Tenno. https://warframe.com/game/warframes/ivara#video https://warframe.com/game/warframes/hydroid Edited September 3, 2016 by Dod-Regnbue

0 KirukaChan
I'm going to assume you're fairly new? Go with Ivara. Out of all the Frames in the game, she's one of the best in terms of not needing a whole lot of powerful mods to make her shine. Hydroid, on the other hand (depending on how you'd build him) needs more in terms of rare or high-ranked mods.
0 Xardis
I would go for both, this game is about (in some sense) getting all frames and all weapons (at least the best variants of them). The question you gave us could only be from new player who wants to buy frame for plat - dont, frames are easy to aquire by normal means, their parts drop from bosses, certain enemies, quests, missions and 4 of them can be aquired in Tenno research room in clan Dojo. In time you will have all frames, the only thing you need to play for in plat are slots and maybe reactors for them.
0 VisionAndVoice
Currently I'd say Ivara. As it was already said, these frames occupy two very different niches, and experience from playing them is very different. Hydroid is more of a CC frame, he specialises at area-denying and suppresing groups of enemies. Ivara is stealth/utility frame, and her kit is tailored for slow-paced sneaky playstyle. if you like that you will like her. Not to say that she is useless in open combat - she is tricky to use and some of her options aren't feasible in direct confrontation, but she can be very effective when you figure out what you need to do. With that in mind, thse two aren't comparable as they do two different things Thing is, Hydroid has fallen behind because of the power-creep, while Ivara was made later, with newer state of things in mind. So until they tune him up you should go for her first.
0 robbybe01234
Ivara wins because of internal kit synergy, practical application in combat, higher damage potential (both in single target and groups), stealth potential, and execution of visual theme. On a side note, it is funny your choice is between these two as it is considered by many that Ivara is in the top 5 and Hydroid is in the bottom 5. But if you are looking solely by price, then I'd go Ivara. She is a pain in the *** to get without buying her. Hydriod on the other hand can be farmed from Hek on Earth. So by my logic, being one of a collector, buying Ivara cheaply is better than buying Hydroid cheaply. That said, Ivara is possibly the only frame I've ever regret spending money on, simply because I hate how poorly designed, in my eyes, her kit is. But many like her, and you might as well. 0 LSG501
Don't bother with hydroid if you're buying with plat, you can get him pretty easy in game by defeating his boss vay hek on earth (mr5 needed iirc) Although honestly I wouldn't bother buying any frame with plat except maybe equinox, nekros or mesa due to them being a bit more of a chore to get, Ivara isn't easy due to spy missions but it's easier than some of the others (I don't have her yet either). Make sure you get lots of slots for weapons, kuborw/kavats, sentinels and of course warframes and you'll actually have something to do. Also as a side note, I wouldn't be buying the big bundles either, heads pop up in game, and most of the weapons can be grabbed in game so you could save money by just grabbing the warframe Edited September 3, 2016 by LSG501
0 (XBOX)Twinna25
I wouldn't recommend spending plat on any bundles including items you can get in the game (except maybe hunhows gift due to the cosmetics). Trust me, save plat in the long run by just buying a slot and maybe potatos.

While I agree that her kit is designed to be methodical, she has the capability to blaze through a mission with a fast charge Artemis bow. It's the spectrum of what she is able to do. It's far more than what Hydroid is capable of.

I was thinking the most about his first when I was typing that line, to be honest. Plus, tentacles are not really random, and have far wider range. Puddle is useless though.
