Riven Mods should NOT reduce (crit) damage by over 100 percent

I really like the Riven Mod system, and I think it is darn near perfect right now. It really can make a lot of weapons useful again and since there are so many combinations of buffs and debuffs for so many different weapons, it really is a fun system. When you get a Riven for a weapon, it really does make you want to use it again.

Stat reductions are also alright, as they balance out the amazing buffs you get on the mods, however...

Riven mods should NOT reduce damage and crit damage by over 100%. They should be around half of what it is now, so around maybe 50% (even that's bad), or just removed entirely. They severely hamper the usability of the mods. (Actually crit damage reduction isn't too bad on some weapons, but it shouldn't reduce it to 0 damage)

Otherwise, great job on the War Within Update. I loved the quest and all the things that came with it.

15% crit chance and 2x crit multiplier isn't that bad. Anyway, I know the Harpak isn't the best example, but say if you got that on the Grakata, that would overall reduce the effectivity of the weapon by a lot.

Yeah, I guess 15% isn't that bad. But like you said, it would suck if you got a mod like that for the Grakata

Or maybe you fire 2% of a bullet...either way, sounds horrible D: If you put it on the weapon did it decrease the damage?

Friend got angry with me cause he was all "DE Didn't test this stuff enough or else we wouldn't be getting -100%+ damage on weapons. It's not that hard to code in a -99% cap on riven mods" And I shared this with him.

For other things like crit chance or crit damage or whatever, it doesn't really matter given some weapons aren't crit viable anyway - so a penalty like that on some weapons is actually fine.

That said, for something like damage or multishot, a number large enough to reduce damage to 0 or near 0 should not be a possibility.

when crit damage is reduced that low it does give the weapon a chance to heal enemies rather than deal damage... still not as bad as keyword is chance here but it should not be overlooked.

Riven mods are just bandaids for the damage system... Instead of they revisiting each weapon or "fixing" damage scaling problems which would put too much effort on something that will still be just MR fodder for majority of the community they've introduced RNG stats to the least used weapons... So don't expect that they've even intended to make your non-crit weapon become one maybe they did but this game obviously does not emphasize hybrid builds on weapons... Your weapon is critable or not... Asking for more power creep crit stats is like asking for more stuff just thrown into the game without extensive tests like someone above said.

The riven mods are set to a certain weapon, and have the whole kit list of modifications.  No one bothered to make sure that the Mods used would even match the weapon.  Lazy copy and paste coding, and it is RNG grind at it's finest.

you can easily say that +damage, +crit chance, +status, +Crit damage, +Reload speed and +multi-shot are the only real mods anyone cares about and the rest is useless chaff

Completely agree, things like getting -slash damage on elemental weapons make me question this update even more. Personally I feel TWW is one of DE's worst updates yet, feels rushed yet they spent so much time on it. Average quest + Really short, I would have been fine if it was one or the other, Short and mindblowing + bug free which its not, or a just being a lot longer 1 hour is minuscule considering the year this has taken.
